What We’re Watching

CHRISTA : On a recent trip, I binged season 2 of Dollface (Hulu) on my iPad. It has an average rating by the Rotten Tomatoes critics, but the audience definitely enjoyed it (and so did I). It’s about female friendships and rekindling those friendships after a breakup, starring Kat Dennings, Brenda Song and Shay Mitchell. Sure, sometimes it gets a little carried away and it’s not very deep, but for a light-hearted, humorous weekend binge (or something to watch on your iPad on your next trip), it works and its fun.

MEGAN : Have you heard of Anna Delvey? I had not, watching Inventing Anna (Netflix) was an eye opener. Based on a true story the series is about a 25 year old woman that poses as a German heiress in NYC. Anna creates chaos not paying 50k plus in hotel bills (at ALL the big NYC hotels), applies for millions of dollars in loans from established institutions, dupes a friend out of a 60k vacation and almost gets away with it all. Started a little slow for me but then I was hooked. Limited series, 9 episodes about an hour each.

Random Stuff We’ve Purchased

CHRISTA : It’s March…time to infuse a little spring around your house. A simple vase and some filler is a great way to do this in any room without spending a lot of money. I love the way these eucalyptus stems in a simple vase add some life to my family room and foyer. The vase on the left is not available right now, but the vase on the right is (or try this one). There are also quite a few options on Pottery Barn right now, too – like this or this. For a similar look, just get any vase that’s about 12″ tall to work with these stems and you’re all set. (If the vase is shorter, just bend the ends of the stems.) Easy peasy decorating!

MEGAN : It’s time to get my entertaining supplies organized. I’m hosting a few small get togethers this month and one concept I’m embracing is low (no) contact appetizers. How cool is the little contraption? I’ll post more pics after I actually use it. Planning to fill it with veggies and a little dollop of hummus on top!

WhatWe’re Eating

CHRISTA : I was influenced to try this bread mix from the ladies at the Living in Yellow blog. It’s so yummy, and so easy to make – just add beer! Grab a mix and try it TODAY! We made the cheesy garlic, and as you can see, we inhaled enjoyed it before I could even snap a pic! Plus, fresh baked bread makes the whole house smell so good!

MEGAN : Mrs. Olson’s Turkey Meatloaf, another crowd pleaser at the Thompson house. This recipe also transitions easily to turkey meatballs.

What We’re Shopping For

CHRISTA : Spring coats! I’m on the hunt for a new spring coat. I purchased this green military jacket (available in regular and petite) from WHBM. The raw edges are stylish and the length looks perfect with a pair of jeans and cute t-shirt. I’ll let you know what I think when it arrives. A few other options include this, this and this.

MEGAN : Spring shoes! Sandals, spring clogs, white non athletic sneakers, it’s time to put away your Uggs and snow boots. I’m on the hunt to refresh and update some shoes in my closet. Note to self: also book a pedicure.

Something You Need (Trust Us!)

CHRISTA : If you only buy one cute pair of sandals this spring, buy the Victorie Slide Sandal by SCHUTZ. Trust me. They work with everything from casual summer dresses to jeans and a t-shirt. Not only are they cute and versatile, they are comfortable with just a 2.5″ block heel. What are you waiting for? And apologies if you hear me talk about these again (and again) – they are that good. (Fit tip: They run tts; I’m wearing my usual 8.5.)

MEGAN : Have you heard of LAKE? As in Lake pajamas? I am very particular about my pjs, they must be soft, not too tight, cute enough to wear in front of my family and comfortable. I might have 4 (eeeeek!) pairs now and I got rid of all my other pajamas. Nothing compares to the quality and softness. My first pair looks as good as my newest. Seriously ladies, how much time do you spend in your pjs? Once you try these there is no going back. My mom and my sister in law are converts also. Honestly, I can’t recommend them enough. (I may or may not have the robe too!)

What We’re Wearing

This spring, refresh your workout gear with some new leggings. We recommend the CRZ Yoga brand on Amazon. They are as amazing (if not more) than similar Lululemon pants. They wash great/don’t fade, hold their shape, offer a little compression and stay put through a challenging workout. Best part – you can buy three pair for the price of one from that other store. The Naked Feeling workout leggings have side pockets for your phone and come in a 25″ length (perfect if you’re petite length).

And, Here’s Where We Walked…

A peek along our walk…we took a new route today and ended up going a little out of our way, but the extra steps were a great way to start the day. Where are your walks taking you? Enjoy the view along the way (here’s why)!

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”
