You may have noticed that Style Among Friends had taken a moment of silence over the past few days. Like many of you, we are still processing the recent events in our country. These articles have helped us and we thought some of you might benefit from them as well. And call a friend this weekend to go for a walk and talk – it will fill your soul and lighten your heart.

What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : Candy (Hulu) is 1980’s perfection – the pants suits, hair styles, big glasses, David Soul records! From the acting and writing, to the production and costumes…everything is flawless. Based on a true story, Jessica Biel fabulously plays Candy Montgomery, an overachieving suburban Texas housewife who suddenly snaps, in a big way! It’s a limited series, with just five one hour episodes — and those five hours do not disappoint!
And, if you need more Candy Montgomery, get a sneak peek at the HBO Max version of this story here, starring Elizabeth Olsen, set to premiere later in 2022.
MEGAN : Just finished season one of The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix). It reminds me of the old school (early 2000s) crime/dramas. Slow start but a twist at the end that totally got me!

Friends Share the Good Stuff
MEGAN : Our stylish friend, Barbara, tried Christa’s perfume recommendation. Thanks Barbara for sharing the good stuff with us. Here’s what she said:
“I can’t say that I loved the sampler. All of the scents were a bit too strong for me. (I really liked a scent from L’Occitane a few years back called Vert which was very light for the summer but they only make it in body wash now.) If I had to chose one in the sampler, Dolce and Gabbana’s light blue was my fav.”

Something Just For Fun
CHRISTA : Host a flower arranging party with your friends! It’s simple, and you’ll have so much fun!
- Each guest brings: a $10-$15 grocery store bouquet of flowers
- You provide: inexpensive vases, ribbon, scissors
- The menu: a small snack or two, bottles of wine and assorted sparkling waters. Keep it simple! I served a macaron assortment in these cute little snack cups.
I grabbed an assortment of ribbon from my gift wrap closet and we used it for bows on our finished arrangements. These blue mason jars were a perfect size for vases and I filled them with some water ahead of time. Also, you’ll need some scissors to trim the flower stems (have a few pair on hand).
As guests arrive, unwrap the flowers. I put them all in a large bucket (nothing fancy!) with some water. When everyone is there (and you’ve had a glass of wine and some time to catch up), start the flower arranging! I recommend setting up a table outside to do this – it gets a little messy.
And here’s a finished arrangement! Everyone had such a great time – we all agreed this should be a weekly event! It’s fun to see everyone’s creativity and style, and because everyone brings something different, your finished arrangement has so much variety.

Something You Need (Trust Us!)
CHRISTA : Machine washable area rugs by Ruggable! If you have kids or pets (or new puppies!), you need these. We clearly love ours since we have three of them. With two dogs and four cats currently residing in our home, these are considered a necessity! And yes, even the 8×10 fits in our top loading (no agitator) washing machine. (Pro tip: Before you purchase a rug, you can order 3-10×10 samples for $15. I recommend you do this because the colors vary from the screen.) Not sure what size rug? Click HERE.
Something On Sale!
As we head into Memorial Day Weekend there are lots of sales online and in store. Megan’s J.Crew Juliette Cardigan is 30% off using code: SUMMER. If you’ve been waiting to snag it, now’s the time!
Christa’s favorite Tovala oven, the answer to all her cooking prayers, is on sale right now for only $49 (with a meal subscription). I’m telling you, ladies, this is a game changer – healthy meals every night without the mess or fuss! If you are an empty nester, have a child just starting our on their own (my son loves this oven), or have older parents needing an easy meal solution, this is it!
And, Meet Josie, Christa’s New Puppy!
We thought everyone could use some cute pet pics this week. Hope these warm your heart. ♥️🐾 Share your pets in the comments or tag us on social media #styleamongfriends.
Josie is a 2-3 month old adorable rescue dog that came to Northern Virginia from Texas. Our uneducated guess is that she’s a Boston Terrier/Rat Terrier mix. We’ll never know! But she is definitely the sweetest little thing and oh so lovable…and who can resist those ears! 🥰♥️🐾
