One Item, Four Ways – Wood Risers

On Wednesdays, we’re keeping it “among friends” here, sharing all our good fashion, beauty and decor finds with you. Join us every week!

Friends share the good stuff, and this week we’re sharing these cute wood risers we found at Home Goods. We each picked up a two pack for $12.99 and are finding so many ways to use them! With a little creativity, you can use them in any room. Or use them when entertaining to elevate your food and beverage display. Have fun with it! How would you use these in your home?

How Christa Styled It

When Megan showed these wood risers to me, I immediately thought about using them by our pool because the blue beads and white washed wood felt perfect for summer entertaining. I took one of my wood risers outside for girls’ night snacks. How cute! And adding a little height to your serving area always makes the presentation of your food and drinks a little more interesting. (These snack/baking cups are an entertaining staple for me – just fill them with snack mix, nuts, candies, dips, mini cookies, macarons…Home Goods has a huge selection of them, 50 for $4.99.)

I used the second riser in my guest bathroom – it’s a perfect way to display some luxe hand soap and lotion (this scent will transport guests to a beach resort!). And again, having items “displayed” makes your room feel extra thoughtful and pulled together.

And a few more ideas…these would be perfect next to your coffee station to stash all the “extras” like cream, sugar, spoons, etc. You could display cupcakes on them for a party. Add one to your coffee table or bookshelf for a little interest in your decorations there. Or put one on the night stand in your guest room with a couple of bottles of water and a few extra snacks – they’ll love it! Have fun coming up with new ideas!

How Megan Styled It

Christa and I were shopping doing research at Home Goods when I saw a giant display of these wood risers (they come in a two pack). My first thought was, “What in the heck would you do with those?” Instantly, I knew we needed to make it a challenge. First up, I put the riser on my kitchen table with a flower arrangement on them. It created a nice vignette and kept the leaky vase from ruining my table or tablecloth.

Then I had a slew of ideas: to elevate candlesticks, a paper towel “perch” for crab feasts and cookouts or to put a candle on. Pro tip: Sand + Fog Tahitian Vanilla is the best smelling candle ever. Even the teenage boys comment on it!

Beyond that these babies have endless possibilities – to organize nail polish or perfume on a vanity; Purell pump at a buffet table; organize salt and pepper, mustard, mayo, etc. on the table. It would be a really cute with a cake stand on it to display a birthday cake. See? The possibilities are endless.

I have a wood riser that is at the bottom of a Longaberger basket that I could totally repurpose for this. Great idea! Thank you for sharing!
