Walk and Talk (and Our Faves Under $50)
It’s “Faves Under $50” week as we walk and talk! Friends share the good stuff, right? So this week we’re sharing our affordable faves with you. We hope you find something new to love! These finds are used on repeat, some for years! And many of these are actually under $25!

Megan’s Faves Under $50
The happiness that I feel when I pull out a new kitchen towel from my overstuffed drawer is palitable. These towels do it all, they dry dishes, they are napkins, a placemat, a hot pad, a mop. And if they get too nasty and the washing machine can’t save them, into the trash they go. Plus they give a strong French bistro vibe.
I’m a sucker for a block print anything, especially table linens. Let’s not talk about how many of these I own.
Oh, Archie, you are my favorite summer flip flop of ALL TIME.
However, these rubber Arizona Birks also have a home in my style rotation. Sometimes you just need something with a little more substance than a flip flop.
Is it becoming obvious that I have a thing for rubber shoes? This is my 3rd summer with these Jeffrey Campbell jellies and I’m still in love. Perfect for a rainy day with a sundress. At 5’1 I love the inch or two that the slight platform gives me.
Fresh Wave Odor Removing Gel is new in my life and I’m questioning how I’ve gone 50 plus years with out it. Currently residing on my shoe shelf, I’ve just placed an order for four more tubs to strategically place in the smelliest spots around my house.
I’m a sucker for a euro sized pillow on the bed and this cutie from Target brings fancy vibes with a not fancy price tag. Love the the light blue and white.
Under $50 beauty round up of my tried and trues…
Kielh’s dry oil is a must in the summer/winter/fall…and, what the heck, spring. I mix it with a dollop of the Trader Joes hyaluronic acid gel cream and it really keeps the skin soft and supple. My go to face sunscreen is this Elta MD, everyday over skincare under makeup. Your future self thanks you. Nuxe oil makes you feel like the best Parisian version of yourself and your aging neck will love it, too. In between mani/pedi appointments? No problem. The Londontown Nail Concealer gives you that salon look at home. Beauty doesn’t have to be expensive, most of my favorite products are under $50.
Ok, I LOVE these reading glasses. They are so amazing I gave one of my pairs to my college roomie in Penn Station as we briefly passed like ships in the night. Full disclosure, my teenage son called me a minion when I wore them. BUT I DON’T CARE!
Old Navy has been crushing it this spring. I’ve been wearing this cotton poplin shirt dress on repeat. With sneakers to a game and with block heeled sandals to dinner. It’s a winner.
We’ve been talking about the basic building blocks of a style uniform around here lately and I failed to mention this one. Target has a gajillion tanks to choose from, but this one is the BEST. You can wear a regular bra, not too snug, enough scoop to elongate your neck and comes in lots of colors. Add to cart.
My Most Worn Item…
This list would not be complete if I did not mention the MOST WORN ITEM in my closet. We’re all friends here right? I’ll be honest, there are a lot of days that I don’t make it out of my workout clothes. These Zella leggings are my tried and true. They take me from a HIIT workout to Target to Starbucks to the side lines to cheer on my lax bro. They are my (daily uniform) hero and maybe my favorite faves under $50.
Christa’s Faves Under $50
Lots of under $50 beauty products this week…
Kristen Ess Volumizing Mousse – I have been using this for years on my fine hair and it works great for a little extra volume without being heavy — #daughterssharethegoodstuff!
Olay Body Wash with Collagen – it’s nothing fancy, but it doesn’t need to be! I buy them in a four pack on Amazon so I never run out. Has a very light scent (which I prefer, I don’t like heavily scented products).
Perfume Samplers – I keep a little dish filled with perfume samples in my closet. It’s a great way to try new scents or perfect for the person who can’t commit to just one!
Essence $5 Mascara – good make-up doesn’t have to be expensive! This is the best 5 bucks you’ll ever spend. All of the essence mascaras are great! Perfect to tuck in with a gift for your BFF.
Photo Finish Primer – a great base before you apply any makeup, this leaves your skin feeling and looking so smooth, and foundation goes on so much better.
eltaMD UV Restore Sunscreen – a daily part of my skincare routine, dermatologist recommended brand, this year I’m trying this anti-aging formula.
Two Faced Eye Palette — my Urban Decay Naked3 mini eyeshadow palette (that I love) is no longer available, so this is my newest find and a perfect replacement.
Walk and Talk, Under $50…
Glamorise Sports Bra – best sports bra I have found for bigger boobies. (Thanks, Terry, for the recommendation!)
lululemon Belt Bag – I use this for all our “walk and talks” because I have to carry an epi pen. It’s just the right size for my essentials and my iPhone fits in it. Cost per use on this is pennies by now! It’s a great weekend bag, concert bag or travel bag, too.
CRZ Yoga Leggings with Pockets – An affordable lululemon dupe, and the pockets are a must! I wear them every dang day, so I know they’re good.
And some tried and true faves…
Yellowbox “Jello” Flip Flops – I buy a new pair every summer, I like them that much!
Pool/Beach Tote – no need to spend a fortune on a pool bag — this bag is the perfect size and under $20 from Amazon!
Layered Initial Necklace – this necklace gets a lot of wear and it’s a steal at only $15! Great gift idea.
Arch Support Slippers — you’ve seen these before, and I can’t recommend them enough, especially if you have any kind of foot pain. They were definitely life changing when I had plantar fasciitis. I wear them all the time around the house and never go barefoot (that’s a pro tip from my podiatrist to help with plantars).
Capri Blue “Volcano” Diffuser — this is by far my favorite home scent. I have candles, the Pura diffuser and these reed diffusers. Here’s another one in a pretty container. Pro tip: every once in a while, flip the sticks to reactivate the scent in your room.
What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : This one has been out since 2020, but if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth watching. The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart (HBOMax) is so well done, and captures what a tremendous influence the brothers had on the music industry and each other. For me, the Bee Gees makes me think of disco and Saturday Night Fever, but they were so much more than that. I think you’ll really enjoy this, not just for the music but for everything you’ll learn about these talented brothers.
And while you’re reading the rest of the post, enjoy some Bee Gees music on Spotfiy.
MEGAN : Calling all my Bridgerton fans! Have you seen Queen Charlotte? New series on Netflix that tells the story of how the AH-MAZING Charlotte became Queen. The back story about King George and her friendship with Lady Danbury both explain the how and why she was able to make such an impact on high society. Cameos by the usual suspects, Lady Bridgerton etc. Excellent casting. And the music, mwwah! Chef’s kiss.
What We’re Shopping For
MEGAN : Remember last years go to necklace from Anthropologie? It looks like a string of candy? Good news it’s still the go to necklace, however, I’ve been noticing that charm necklaces are making an appearance among the cool girl set. I found this darling heart locket pendant that can be attached to the candy necklace. The charm is a collaboration with Every Mother Counts, Clare V. gives 30% of the purchase price back to EMC to support women’s maternity health. Sounds like the perfect Mother’s Day gift to me!
Something We Bought This Week (ON SALE!)
CHRISTA : A crossbody just seems like a perfect summer bag — good when you’re traveling, spending more time outside or going to outdoor concerts. These leather crossbody bags from Michael Kors are one of my favorite styles, and they’re a steal at only $99 (regular $398) — and until May 18, save an extra 25% off with code HELLOSUMMER. Dress them up or down, they come in some fun colors (hello, jasmine yellow!) and they’re a little larger (9.5″ x 6.5″) making them the perfect size to hold all your essentials. At this price, you might need two!
Something Quick to Read
CHRISTA : One Story to Read Today is a newsletter from The Atlantic, featuring one editor recommended must-read article. It’s delivered every weekday to your inbox. To sign up, click here. Most recently, they shared “How Tom Hanks Became Tom Hanks,” a fascinating look at the events in Tom Hanks’s life, before fame, that he thinks made him who he is today.
Random Stuff We Like
CHRISTA : Get ready for your summer travel! I shared my toiletry bags in my “Best of April” top 5 list. These are what I use when I’m packing in a carry-on; having three separate bags makes it much easier to maximize every inch of space in a small suitcase. I use one for makeup, one for liquids and one for other random stuff. And, bonus, they’re only $12 for all three! They’d also be perfect for sunscreen in your pool/beach bag, or use one to organize your travel chargers/cables.
I also love my Kitsch travel containers (3 pack, under $10) for your shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Each holds enough for 4-5 days, they pack easily since they’re flat, and they never leak.
Pro tip: Buy an extra set of your toiletries and makeup (look for travel sizes of your faves and watch for sales). Keep your toiletry bag packed and ready to go to make packing for any trip a breeze.
Something Just For Fun
CHRISTA : I shared these last year, but they’re so fun and worth sharing again for those with Class of 2023 high school and college grads. Show the world (or at least your neighborhood!) how proud you are with this extra large 60″ x 40″ sign on Etsy. The customer service is excellent – they’ll send you a proof usually same day and the sign ships within a few days. Signs can be fully customized with name, year and/or school, plus school colors.
Something New We Found
MEGAN : This Kopari Sun Screen caught my eye as I wandered around Target this week. The smell is DIVINE, it’s a mix of different oils so it’s very moisturizing, no sheen or color. It is a “clean” sunscreen, spf 50 and it smells like my childhood summers. Will be adding this to my faves under $50.
Something to Gift (That They’ll Love!)
MEGAN : My SIL sent me the cutest paper flower bouquet for Mother’s Day. It absolutely made my day and the best part is the flowers don’t need to be watered! These cards would be a perfect birthday, anniversary or just because card to send to someone you love.

Love those Kitsch bags but REALLY need to know where you found the Woolite pouches for travel. I can’t find them anywhere!!!!!
The Woolite pouches were included as a freebie in a grocery order once. I can’t find anywhere either! But, you could fill one of the leakproof Kitsch pouches with your Woolite detergent! 🙂
