WHAT WE’RE WATCHING & LISTENING TO

CHRISTA : Have you seen the preview for Where the Crawdads Sing? I read and loved the book…I’m so happy to see it being made into a movie. It’s coming to theaters in July starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, produced by Reese Witherspoon and new music by Taylor Swift. Mark your calendar!

MEGAN: I’m so excited that CODA (Apple TV) won best picture! (I was sure the award was going to the dogs…IYKYK.) If you haven’t seen it, you must. Marlee Matlin is amazing and obviously Troy Kotsur (best supporting actor WINNER!) is excellent. The movie tells the story of a teenage girl that is the only hearing person in a deaf family. Crowd pleaser for family movie night.

BONUS : In case you haven’t seen this trailer (just released this week), this looks like it will be the most intense finale to this amazing show! If you haven’t started Ozark yet, start watching now because the final season (Season 4 Part 2) isn’t out until April 29. Can’t wait!

RANDOM STUFF WE’VE PURCHASED

CHRISTA : Need a simple, one-and-done summer outfit? Dresses are my favorite summer staple! Megan shared a few cute options in last week’s post and I have another one for you to try. This dress is just what you’ve been looking for – it’s a light weight fabric (perfect for summer) and packs easily in a suitcase. I love mine! The lower priced Amazon fashion brands can definitely be very hit or miss – I return a lot of what I purchase so if I am sharing one, it’s good! This one is a keeper. You can accessorize it with sandals and add in a cute woven bag to complete the look. On cooler evenings just add your trusty jean jacket. One-and-done dressing at its best!

MEGAN : I just randomly purchased a selfie stick. Am I the only one that struggles to get a pic of the whole fam on vacations and holidays? Fingers crossed this solves the issue. I also can’t wait to bust this out on my son’s college tours. Am I becoming that mom? Looks like it…

WHAT MEGAN’S COOKING

MEGAN: I need more brunch in my life. Do you host brunches? If so, I’ve got the coffee cake for you. My dog mom bestie’s husband (are you following?) shared his coffee cake with me last week and I’m still dreaming about it.

3 UNDER $30

CHRISTA : Don’t forget to refresh your workout clothes this spring. Sometimes it just takes some new gear to get you motivated again. Check out the affordable selection by CRZ Yoga on Amazon – high quality, great prices, buy three for the price of one item from those “popular” stores!

  • New workout leggings in fun spring colors. Trust me – these are good! You’ll wonder why you were spending so much on your Lululemon pants!
  • A long sleeve shirt is perfect for chilly spring mornings – these are another great Lululemon dupe at a fraction of the price. Great quality – I’m speaking from experience because I own four of these. Pro tip: when ordering, check the color descriptions – the listing on Amazon has both slim and relaxed fit in the same listing.
  • A loose fit cotton top to throw on over your tank when you’re heading out to a workout class or running errands after a walk (another good find from CRZ Yoga).

MEGAN : Tis the season for pool hair and hats. Baseball hats are sporty and fun but sometimes a girl needs to up her bed head game. These straw hats are making me excited for summer.

  • Love the short brim on this straw fedora. Perfect for those of us with small faces/heads.
  • I’m not sure if this one says “Huckleberry Finn” or “frozen daiquiris by the pool” – but I like it.
  • This Panama hat is giving me a little cowboy/a little gardener, loving the huge brim and that it’s not too fussy. It’s also foldable and packable for those beach vacations! UV UPF 50+

SHOPPING TIPS

CHRISTA : Have you signed up for Shoprunner yet? If you’re an online shopper like we are, then you need this! The benefits of Shoprunner include free 2- day shipping and free returns from participating retailers (and there are a lot of those!). After a free three month trial period, the cost is $79 for an annual membership. BUT…there are many ways to get a free membership! Many credit cards (and PayPal) offer memberships. There is also a “Spend-and-Get” membership if you are a regular online shopper. Just spend a certain amount in a month with your favorite online retailer and you’ll qualify for a free membership for a year; the retailer will offer you this option at checkout. (I have had my membership through WHBM for many years now – here are their Shoprunner FAQs.)

When you’re shopping, just look for the Shoprunner logo and make sure you are signed in to your account at checkout. It’s that easy – the free 2-day shipping will be an option. From the Shoprunner site, you can also shop participating retailer sites, and see current special offers. It’s such an easy way to shop and know you are getting latest offers, too.

WHAT WE’RE PLANNING

MEGAN: We are planning a road trip down south for college tours. I’m looking forward to more civilized temperatures. On long drives we like to listen to books on tape, or nowadays it’s Audible. I just downloaded Facing the Mountain by Daniel James Brown (same author as The Boys in the Boat – one of my all time favs). My husband and son both love WWII stories so I thought this one would make everyone happy. Here is the blurb from Amazon:

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Boys in the Boat, a gripping World War II saga of patriotism and resistance, focusing on four Japanese American men and their families, and the contributions and sacrifices that they made for the sake of the nation.

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

A peek along our walk…we have one word to describe the weather on our walk today…RUDE! Mother Nature should not be giving us temps in the teens when it’s almost April. It was cold and windy and if I didn’t have my walking buddy for accountability I would have totally bailed. Pro tip: Find a walking buddy. Somedays it makes the difference between getting it done or not. The Washington Post and The New York Times both agree!

Walking is always so much better when you go with a friend! We hope you’ll share our blog with your walking bestie. And let us know in the comments what you’re watching, wearing, eating, planning or shopping for.

Christa’s Kirundo dress is definitely ticking all the boxes and more. Did she mention the price? At $35 it’s a steal. And, Megan’s dog-walking bestie’s husband’s (did I get that right?) coffee cake made my pajamas tight just reading it. It’s a retake on the old sour cream coffee cake recipe of Grandma F’s day, and I’m definitely going to make it. BTW, pecans are an even better buy at Costco. Great job, ladies. I’m hooked on this blog!
