WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : In I Love That For You (Showtime/Hulu), Vanessa Bayer stars as a woman who lands her dream job as a host on a home shopping network, only to keep her job under false pretenses. The home shopping satire is hilarious, and the behind the scenes chemistry within this cast is perfect! Also stars Molly Shannon. I hope there’s a season 2 so they can explore more with the other characters.

MEGAN : Purple Hearts on Netflix was a quick and easy watch. Cassie is a struggling singer song writer and marries Luke, a US Marine, out of convenience for health care. Good story and ends just as you would hope. AND the word on the street is that Nicholas Galitzine (Luke) is going to play opposite Anne Hathaway in The Idea of You. Remember that book? The 40-something mom takes her daughter to a concert in Vegas and meets the lead singer of the band (who is based on Harry Styles) and they fall in love. I can’t wait! If you haven’t already, read the book now so you are ready for the movie next summer.

RANDOM STUFF WE LIKE

CHRISTA : I did some more organizing in the kitchen recently and tackled my pantry. My pantry is very small, so keeping it organized is a must to make the most of the space. Some of my favorite organizing products are by mDesign on Amazon, including their assortment of clear bins, spinning turntables, and divided organizers.

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you’re ready to tackle your pantry, check out the items below to make organizing a breeze! Not sure where to begin? Here are a few quick steps to get you started:

  • Start by emptying the entire pantry. Yes, it messy, but you’ll be amazed at what you find. Toss anything expired or old.
  • Consolidate multiple items – why does one box get open before another is finished?
  • Wipe down the shelves. This is a good time to add fresh shelf liner or change out the shelves for a closet system, like Elfa from the Container Store. Remember to use the door for storage, too.
  • Categorize like items together. This will help you see what you have and plan what goes on each shelf. Put the items you use most on the middle shelves at eye level.
  • Contain everything and label, label, label so the rest of the family learns your system! On my deep shelves, these mDesign bins can easily be pulled out making things at the back of the shelf easy to get — nothing gets lost or forgotten. And I’ve linked my fav Etsy labels below – I usually order the 4″ labels in white.
  • Unbox things. I don’t unbox everything, but putting things like cereal and oatmeal in containers helps you see what’s running low when it’s time for groceries.
  • Add a light! I added this motion sensor light and it makes such a difference. The light should last three months before it needs a charge, and comes with a USB charger. Why did I wait ten years for this?

Not only is the pantry organized, but it looks pretty, too, which makes me happy! Happy organizing friends!

WHAT WE’RE SHOPPING FOR

CHRISTA : I WAS shopping for some fall sandals to replace my clear SCHUTZ sandals that I love so much. Well, I THINK I FOUND THEM. Yay!!!! They’re these Splendid Kait Sandals in toffee — a perfect 2.5″ heel height and perfect color for fall with the itty bitty boot cut jeans. Yipee!! Can you tell how happy I am with this fashion find?

WHAT MEGAN’S COOKING

Dieter's PB&J

www.StyleAmongFriends.com

I jokingly call this the dieter's PB&J, but you guys it's so good I kinda don't mind. Perfect light lunch or after school snack for the kids. I got this "recipe" from my friend Nicole. She is an aahhh-mazing cook and a nurse and health coach (focusing on performing arts peeps). She is a great follow for healthy recipes and life style. IG: @nicolejacobsontheatrern and her website is https://theatrern.com.

MEGAN : Another empty! And it’s a forever reorder. WOW Dreamcoat – a raincoat for my hair.

SAVE VS. SPLURGE

MEGAN : Anyone else intrigued by the floral trend? I’m not sure I’m ready to make a full commitment to it ($$$$), but I do want to stick my toe in. Check out this look for less floral top from Gap. It’s giving me all the Veronica Beard feels from our post on fall must haves from Nordstrom.

WHAT WE’RE WEARING

CHRISTA : A new fall sandal needs a fall pedicure! This is my new favorite color (Miami Beet by OPI) that I mentioned in Tuesday’s post about 9 Fall Trends. The color in the pic reads more red, but it’s a nice deep wine/burgundy color, perfect for the season. Pro tip: If you’re local and go to VIP Nails, it’s color 9.

MEGAN : I’m going with lavender this fall (although you know I’m still committed to the Londontown Nail Treatment). Tickle My France-y by OPI, they had me at France-y. The picture doesn’t do the color justice, it’s the perfect taupe with lavender undertones.

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

A peek along our walk…this week we walked to the farmer’s market. The harvest of flowers and veggies was abundant. But our fav find were these locally made soft pretzels. Ahhhh yum. Nordic Knot we will be back for more!

Don’t hate us for mentioning it, but the holidays will be here before you know it. Starting in October, we’ll be sharing some tips and to do’s every week in the walk and talk. We’re here to help you stay on top of your holiday tasks and have a stress-free holiday season. What part of getting ready for the holidays stresses you the most? Let us know what holiday tips, inspiration and links you’d like to see.

On Tuesday we shared lots of fall inspiration from our recent trip to Nordstrom. The store was full of flats in all styles (especially in patterns and textures), florals in fall colors, plaid blazers and lots of rust/mauve/burgundy. What fall trends are you excited to try this fall?

Adding to your pantry organization– I love my spice rack on the pantry door. It’s just the right size for a large spice collection, which I have alphabetized for easy access. #obsessivecompulsive
