WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : Is anyone else a fan of The Umbrella Academy (Netflix)? My daughter and I are so excited that Season 3 is out now and we’ve been watching every night. It’s about a group of siblings with extraordinary powers that are reunited to save the world – or is it the world that needs saving from them? Let me know if you’re watching, too!

MEGAN : We did it again, we went TO the movie theater. It was awesome to be out at the movies in person and the popcorn tasted so good. Oh! and we saw the new Elvis movie. The film is a Baz Luhrmann biopic that tells Elvis’s (Austin Butler) story through his relationship with his manager Colonel Parker (Tom Hanks). Austin Butler is amazing as Elvis (he’s a natural blonde!) and he captured the voice perfectly. I only missed the snarl.

THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE – GET READY!

Friends, it’s time to put your wish list together. Grab your diet Coke (or favorite beverage – wine also pairs nicely with online shopping!) and dive into the NSale preview.

A few tips about the wish lists:

  • Check what you already have in your closet to avoid buying duplicates.
  • Create two wish lists – one of your “must have” items that you REALLY, REALLY want, and another “secondary list” of other stuff that you like, too but are maybe more of a “want” than a “need”. On your designated shopping day, add the must haves to your cart first and check out (stuff sells quickly so you’ll want to be efficient). Go back and shop the remaining items in your secondary list.
  • Stock up on stuff you use regularly (hint: panties, bras, leggings, candles, beauty products).
  • Sort your shopping view by “percent off” to have the best deals show up first when shopping.
  • Do some holiday gift shopping or restock your gift closet.
  • Keep out of stock items on your list, leave items there after shopping begins. If an item sells out, chances are it will come back in stock after returns come back to the stores.

Shopping begins July 6 (check your Nordstrom card status for your shopping day), the sale opens to the public July 15. Tell us what made your wish list!

MEGAN’S NORDSTROM SALE WISH LIST

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine

Row one

If I could only purchase one item from this collage it would be the Isabel Marant sunglasses (three). They are calling my name, big time. You can never go wrong with a Clare V bag (one), use it as a clutch or cross body or pouch in a tote – multifunctional. I don’t have a ruana but this one (two) has me intrigued, would I use it on the airplane? In a cold movie theater? My curiosity it peaked.

Row two

I’m a total bag lady. My closet is filled with totes and clutches, wallets and crossbodies, lady bags and shoulder bags. You get the point. This Cult Gaia (four) is like a piece of art, I’ve been eyeing it all summer and the sale might be the sign I was waiting for. Big question: will my phone fit??? The navy blue back pack (five) caught my eye; for the gym? travel? adventures? Who doesn’t love a super chic weekender (six)? This vegan beauty reminds me of the one my friend Lynne uses. She always ties a silk scarf on the handle and it gives me French girl chic vibes. At under $75 this is also a great gift (to yourself??) idea.

Row Three

These are my replacement/refresh items. The cutest workout/everyday jacket (seven) that might be a dupe for the $$$$$ Moncler. My go to Zella leggings (eight) under $30, time to stock up! And the holy grail of sneakers (nine). These are my go to everyday sneaks, this will be my third replacement pair. They slide on, are supportive and super cute. I wear mine every day to walk the dog, my friend Edie wears hers to coach field hockey. Get ’em. You’re welcome.

CHRISTA’S NORDSTROM SALE WISH LIST

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine

Row one

My favorite part of the NSale is the sweaters. It’s a great time to splurge on cashmere and designer brands at a more affordable price, and give your winter wardrobe a refresh. The cashmere hoodie (two) is a great basic (in either ivory or green…or maybe both!), the cozy ruana is a good transitional piece this fall (three), and the star sweater is something a little more fun (one). Last year I purchased this sweater in the rust and might need to add the grey and/or olive.

Row two

I like to buy an entire fall outfit. The floral blouse (four) will be a perfect, paired with the bootcut jeans (six) and some new booties (five).

Row three

Jackets are a great buy during the sale. I’ve been looking for a trench coat (eight) and like the shorter length of this one. I love this Zella athletic jacket (seven) for our morning walk and talks. (I am also eyeing up this longer Zella jacket, too.) This Simplehuman mirror (nine) is something I own and love. It made my list because I think all of you would love it and I think it will make a great gift for a few people on my holiday shopping list.

Not pictured: The sale has lots of great gift ideas, including this cozy blanket, this candle, the Pura smart home diffuser scent system (I love mine!), this crossbody and this necklace.

READER REQUEST

Just curious…how would you compare the Acqualina resort in Miami to the resort in Sea Island, GA? Any preference? ~ Bessie A.

CHRISTA: Oooh, so jealous that you are considering these resorts because both are amazing! We loved Acqualina in Miami for a long weekend getaway, but Sea Island in Georgia would be our preference without a doubt! We started vacationing at Sea Island when our kids were younger and have been back many times.

More about Sea Island

  • To get there you can fly into Savannah or Jacksonville – it’s about an hour from either airport so you’ll need to plan a car rental into your budget.
  • It’s a great destination for families, extended family trips or couples. For couples, I recommend calling to book your reservation and stay in the Cloister Ocean Residences. Request an ocean view.
  • All restaurants on the property are outstanding – we especially love Tavola at the Cloister (Italian cuisine) and Colt & Alison at the Lodge (steaks). There are also great restaurants off-property, too, in St. Simons.
  • There is so much to do at Sea Island – a shooting school, horseback riding on the beach, bowling, bike riding (ride down the main road and check out all the beautiful architecture), spa, fitness center, water sports, dinner cruises, fishing, kayaking, golf. Sea Island has it all. It’s easy to work with the concierge to make your reservations ahead of time for everything.

Sea Island is definitely a five star vacation and Southern charm at it finest! Message me or comment below if you have any other questions!

Pro tip: If you’ll be there for evening bingo, definitely sign up for that. My family calls it “fancy bingo.” It’s a Sea Island tradition and a lot of fun. (There is a bingo dress code – so bring your favorite Lilly Pulitzer style dress and pick up a bow tie for your hubby – you’ll fit right in.)

FRIENDS SHARE THE GOOD STUFF

Do you have something you love or can’t live without? Did you find a great deal? Well, do tell! Share with us and we’ll pass it along…because friends share the good stuff!

CHRISTA: When you have a girls’ night out and everyone has cute shoes, naturally you take a picture to share! Look how cute our stylish friends Robin, Lisa, Dannielle, Michelle and Jill are, they are ready to walk and talk right into girls’ night out. Thanks for sharing your shoes with us, ladies.

Clockwise from top are: Birkenstocks (a fav for comfort!), clear SCHUTZ sandals, Clarks (again, a fav for extra comfort!), Sam Edelman platform sandals, Tommy Bahama espadrilles (similar, similar), and Anthropologie (no longer available). Thanks for sharing, ladies!

MEGAN : We could all use a little more gold sandal vibe in our lives right now. How cute are these? How about with a one shoulder goddess style dress on a tropical vaca? Or jazzing up jeans and tee shirt for movie night? The possibilities are endless and for under $30 I might start giving them to my friends as birthday gifts. From Cinderella, of course.

Can you tell me more about the Pura smart home diffuser? I’m thinking about purchasing one. What are your favorite scents? Will one diffuser work for the whole house? How long do the cartridges last? Does the app work well and is it easy to use? Thanks, in advance!

    • Christa wrote:

The app is easy to use. The scents last me about two months. The Pura device has two scent cartridges. You program each cartridge to run at a different time so you could have different scents. I have only used the Capri Blue volcano scent. One diffuser works for 1-2 rooms. It definitely doesn’t work for the whole house or one floor of the house. Hope that helps. 😊
