WHAT WE’RE WATCHING & LISTENING TO

CHRISTA: I’m so excited for the final season of Killing Eve (BBC America/AMC+) to begin this Sunday. If you haven’t started this series, what are you waiting for? Strong female characters in well-written stories with twists and turns to keep you guessing…and Villanelle’s costumes! Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are fantastic together. Enjoy!

MEGAN: Back on my Academy Award hunt, we watched The Power of the Dog (Netflix). I wanted to like it, I really did – but UGH it was brutal. It’s going to clean up at the Oscars and already won the Golden Globe, but it put me to sleep. Maybe I’m just not smart enough for this one. One of the reviews I read said it’s meant to be watched twice to fully embrace and understand it (symbolism and all), but geez I barely made it through once. Anyhow, put it on your list if you like to say you saw the winners (I’m guessing it will win) otherwise I’d skip it and check out what Christa’s watching this week.

RANDOM STUFF WE’VE PURCHASED

CHRISTA: Here are three recent (and random!) Amazon purchases from my order history – all recommended:

  • Tervis 30 oz. tumbler : My husband prefers to drink water from these Tervis Tumblers instead of the plastic Tervis tumblers we had. The 30 oz is a great size and he says it keeps water cold all day. Personally, I prefer these Simple Modern water bottles – they also keep water cold all day, but I like that these have a straw.
  • Nail polish : I’ve been using OPI’s “Just Lanai-ing Around” for a few months now at the nail salon so I bought my own for touch-ups. I do the dip polish in the same color on my fingers and love it. Tip: the dip is a smidge darker than the actual polish, but they still coordinate nicely together. (And don’t forget – sandal season is right around the corner, and here are some tips from last week’s post to help get your feet “sandal ready.”)
  • Reading glasses : Why do my reading glasses keep disappearing? It’s a good thing my favorite style is only $12 for five pair!

MEGAN: Three recent and random Amazon purchases:

  • These shower tabs are amazing, so good in fact I reordered them this week. Like a spa visit at home. My son has had a cold this week and they really helped him. I recommended them to my mom and she also loves them. Treat yourself, it’s the dull drums of winter. Over 10k 5 star reviews!
  • Christa loves her readers, but what do you do when you can’t find them and you need to check to see if you have spinach in your teeth? This purse compact (with light!) and 10x magnification has already come in handy this week. Over 5k 4.5 star reviews!
  • Any Air Fryer lovers out there? Nothing gets me excited like the words “shoestring fries”, but I detest cleaning that beast. The solution… disposable paper liners for the air fryer! My kind of genius.

WHAT WE’RE EATING

CHRISTA: With Weight Watchers, I’m more successful when I have simple recipes, and one dish/sheet pan recipes work for me because they’re easy and have little cleanup. Try this yummy recipe for roasted potatoes, sausage and peppers. And this chicken, broccoli and sweet potato sheet pan dinner. Also one pot meals are simple, like this one for Tuscan chicken pasta.

MEGAN: Taco two’s day 2-2-22 called for a celebration. Easy week night enchiladas:

Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Course Main Course
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs ground turkey or 1 shredded rotisserie chicken
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • 1 can HATCH chili green enchilada sauce I get this at Harris Teeter.
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese I use Tillamook.
  • 8 flour tortillas

Instructions

  • Cook onions and ground turkey in pan over medium heat on stove. (If using precooked rotisserie chicken, cook onions then add chicken)
  • Pour 3/4 can of enchilada sauce into the meat and stir, then add 1/2 Cup of the shredded cheese – when cheese is melted and combined remove from heat.
  • Spray a 9×12 pan with cooking spray.
  • Fill tortillas with the enchilada mixture, roll and line up in the pan.
  • Once all tortillas are filled and lined up in the pan pour the remaining sauce over them. Use fingers to make sure all are covered. Then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
  • Cover and bake for 25-30 min at 350 degrees. Uncover for the last 10 min. Enjoy!

WHAT WE’RE SHOPPING FOR

CHRISTA: We finally have a vacation on the calendar! Looking forward to checking out a new resort near Miami – Acqualina Resort. How have we never heard of this magical paradise before? To get resort ready, I’m shopping for new swimwear, and plan to get another suit from Summersalt and maybe this coverup. This “sidestroke” style truly is a miracle like they say. It flatters every type of figure and comes in so many colors. I am resisting getting solid black (even though it’s my favorite). I think poolside in Miami deserves a bright color, like the “hibiscus & tangerine & white sand.”

MEGAN: My addiction to army green pants runs deep. They are a great base to wear instead of jeans, cute with a t shirt and denim jacket or a sweater if it’s cooler out. I’m in the market for a new pair and these caught my eye. (Tip: the reviews say they run big, so size down one)

WHAT WE’RE PLANNING

We have so many fun things coming up on the blog. Remember to subscribe so you won’t miss our upcoming posts, including our favorite white jeans, an AMAZING Mother’s Day gift guide (featuring our a variety of Etsy vendors), our favorite skincare for day and night and ten wardrobe must-haves for Spring.

SOMETHING YOU NEED (TRUST US!)

This new section of our ”walk and talk” includes recommendations for must-have products we just can’t live without. We’d buy these over and over again without hesitation, and hope you find them as useful as we do!

CHRISTA: I love this toiletry bag for traveling. It holds so much (even full-size bottles) and keeps everything organized. I use one side for anything non-makeup. I use the other half for makeup, lotions, and brushes. The small compartment holds my Kitsch refillable pouches for shampoo/conditioner/body wash (love these pouches so much that I gifted them at a Favorite Things party). There is a fourth zip-off compartment that I don’t need. And there is a smaller exterior pocket that I use for little things like a nail file, a few bandaids, extra hair ties and clips, and a small sewing kit. It also includes a hook so you can hang it up. This bag comes packed in a beautiful box, wrapped in tissue – has a very high-end feel, making it perfect for gifting, too.

MEGAN: These linen sheets from Target are my current favorite obsession. They are cool, warm and soft all in one. (They get softer after each wash – how is that possible?) I love them so much I gifted them to my parents last Christmas and now my sons are addicted to these amazing sheets as well. Check them out on your next trip to Target (aka my happy place).

WHAT WE’RE WEARING

CHRISTA: These Levi’s jeans are a new favorite. Fit is TTS; and I ordered the regular length (at 5’4” the length fits me well). I have the ”lapis sun” color and they are a little lighter than they look in the Amazon listing.

MEGAN: As mother nature treats us to a few “false Spring” days I’ve been shedding my parka for a lighter layer. This long vest has been my go to lately. Great over jeans or athleisure and it makes me feel like a cool kid.

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

Fun fact: Did you know you burn more calories when walking with a friend? “Talking with a buddy while you walk increases the oxygen deprivation, forcing your body to burn more calories.” (source) Who knew!

A peek along our walk…it was a warm morning for our walk this week (no bulky coats today!). No sunshine again, but with all the birds chirping, it sounded like the first signs of spring. 🌷

A little blog research with some window shopping, and some inspiration in the Paper Source window.

Walking is always so much better when you go with a friend! We hope you’ll share our “walk and talk” with your walking bestie. And let us know in the comments what you’re watching, wearing, eating, planning or shopping for. Anything we can help you find?

I buy the pre-cut parchment sheets from amazon. They’re perfect for lining cookie sheets when you’re heating things up, and I guess if I’m ever in a position to make steamed fish “en papillotte” I’m ready to go. (Just kidding – I will *never* make that.)
