weekly walk and talk

Welcome to the Walk & Talk

Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.

CHRISTA : This week’s Walk & Talk is coming to you with a little “post-concert glow.” I went to see Lady Gaga with my adult daughter and it was one of those nights that reminded me how much fun it is to share music, laugh a lot, and stay out a little later than usual. Somewhere between the singing, people-watching, and snacks, I realized these are the moments you wish you could bottle up. Now grab your Diet Coke and let’s catch up on everything we’re sharing this week.

MEGAN : Do you miss the days of Easter baskets and egg hunts? I do. No reason why you can’t fill some eggs with a few of their favorite things or pop a six-pack in a basket. You are never too old for an Easter treat from you mom.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Millers in Marriage (Prime) is an Ed Burns written, directed and started in movie. The movie is a deep dive into three marriages. All three couples are in their 50s, one with no kids. The relationships are suffering for different but relatable reasons; the kids are gone, addiction, work, success. If you are a fan of the Brothers McMullen you will like this movie. Best quote from the movie and subtle innuendo, “Sometimes it’s better to just live with the rat.”.

CHRISTA : This one is for our stylish friend Dannielle! If you’re a fan of the Godzilla and King Kong movies, then Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV) is for you. The series follows the Monarch organization, founded in the 1950s to monitor the “titans” like Godzilla and manage the monster-human existence. It picks up after the 2014 Godzilla movie and the attack on San Francisco, but also flashes back to the 1950s when it all began. Kurt Russell leads the series and his son Wyatt plays his younger self.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Apparently I have a type… and it involves kick flare denim and a good puff sleeve. Spring is here, and I’m ready for this favorite go-to outfit formula…it’s the one that always feel just right. Because honestly, staying stylish over 50 gets a whole lot easier when you know what works and just run with it. Shop the links below for my favorite jeans and some cute tops to go with them.

Pro tip: I always pair my look with a leopard belt. I find it works for EVERYTHING!

MEGAN : When it’s almost April but still cold you find your brightest colored sweater. Love this spring green paired with black vegan joggers. Feels like you’re in sweats but cute enough for date night.

What We’re Loving

MEGAN : Oh how I wish the internet was scratch and sniff. I’ve been using Laundry Sauce dryer sheets – scent Egyptian Rose – on my bedding and towels for a few months now. The smell is not over powering, it’s floral and light and really lovely. I took a towel to my workout a few weeks ago and a friend picked it up and commented on the scent. This is the kind of little luxuries my 50 year old self needs more of.

CHRISTA : Dark spots are probably my biggest skincare complaint, so this winter I went down the research rabbit hole looking for something that might actually make a difference. I decided to try Civant’s Meladerm, named the #1 pick in a January 2026 roundup by DermReview.com. Note: This is not an affiliate link; I’m sharing it because I like it that much!

I’ve been using it for about two months now, twice a day followed by my favorite moisturizer, and I can honestly say it’s made a noticeable difference with those stubborn spots. It’s one of those products where consistency really pays off. If your skin is very sensitive, you may want to ease into it. I noticed a little irritation the first day or two, but once I followed it with a good moisturizer, my skin adjusted and has been perfectly happy since.

Pro tip: Applying sunscreen daily is key to keeping the dark spots from coming back.

What We’re Styling: Easter Brunch

Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.

CHRISTA : Easter at our house is predictable. Since 1991, we head to our favorite local Mexican restaurant. Lots of chips, salsa, and maybe a margarita. So, nothing fancy needed, but it is usually the first opportunity to break out a cute spring dress. One of my favorite styles is the Somerset Collection from Anthropologie. It’s an easy, flattering silhouette that somehow works for everyone (and works no matter how many tacos you eat!). Tons of sizes, tons of patterns, and the kind of dress you can wear to brunch, church, vacation, or yes, “Taco Easter.” What more could we want?

Style tip: The Somerset Collection also includes maxi dresses, skirts and pants too. Sizes available in regular, petite and tall.

MEGAN : I love Easter brunch, especially if it’s a giant buffet. In my experience Easter is NEVER as warm as you think it’s going to be. Anyone else ever have to wear their parka over their Easter dress? My adult philosophy is to work the spring coat into the outfit. Navy blue isn’t the pastel overture that Easter/Passover usually inspires — but the polka dots bring the whimsey. Add a red lip to make a statement.

Just for Fun

MEGAN : I’m so excited to read Anna Quindlen’s new novel, More Than Enough. An ancestry DNA test matches our protagonist with an unlikely person, resulting is much self discovery and research. I love Anna Quindlen’s humor and can’t wait to read this book.

CHRISTA : My aunt was telling me that one of the hardest parts about assisted living is that everyone falls into the same routine. Same schedule, same faces, same small talk. After a while it can feel like… well, now what do we talk about? These conversation starter decks might just be what she needs. Such an easy way to freshen things up and turn “How was your day?” into a real conversation.

Hey Christa, I use dermatologist prescribed Retinol .1% and it cleared up every age spot on my face. In fact, both of my 30-something dermatologists at UVA asked me what product I use on my face! If that’s not a recommendation I don’t know what is. Good luck, it’s always great to find something that works for you.
