Walk and Talk (and Swim Season)
Friends, it’s time to talk about swimsuits. We hear you groaning, but swim season will be here before you know it. If you shop now, you have many more options to find just the right suit and coverup. Don’t wait to lose those ten pounds and don’t wait until your beach trip in July to look for a new swimsuit!
We’re sharing a few of our favorite brands, and giving you a complete beach/pool day look, with the ever important coverup, cute sandals and a fun little tote. Ladies, you can wear your swimsuit with confidence when you have everything you need to be stylish on pool day!
And when you do find the perfect swimsuit, take good care of it with these washing tips.
MEGAN’S SWIM SEASON PICKS
MEGAN : Swimsuit season, for me, it’s all about the cover up! I don’t have a go to brand that I gravitate towards, but I tend to chose maillot style swimsuits in solid colors. To be honest I’d rather spend my $$ on a good cover up than a fancy swim suit. I always check TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack for my go to maillot style. I do love my strapless J.Crew suit, they have it every year in a multitude of colors. Over the last 10 years I’ve had three of them and I always come back to it. It looks good on everyone , tall or small.
Cover ups are my favorite part of my swimming costume (am I dating myself with that phrase??). Love an easy breezy throw on dress, but my very favorite cover up is actually free of charge. It’s one of my husbands old button down work shirts. Nothing looks more chic than a men’s white work shirt over a black bathing suit with a pair of heeled sandals or wedges.
Again with the aging, but I just can’t wear plain old flip flops like I used to. My feet kill me and my plantar rears it’s ugly head if I spend too much time in flops. Friends, meet my new best friend, Archies. Found these last summer and I’ve already stated wearing them around the house this spring. They have the perfect amount of arch support and cushion. Highly recommend.

CHRISTA’S SWIM SEASON PICKS
CHRISTA : My go to brand for swimsuits is Summersalt, especially their bestselling, universally flattering “Sidestroke” one shoulder style. If you haven’t given it a try yet, you really should. I love that Summersalt shows their swimsuits on models of all different sizes and body types, and their suits come in so many colors, sizes and styles. Lauren Ralph Lauren, Miraclesuit (try the “Jena” one shoulder style), and J.Crew are also a go to for me for one piece suits.
I need a suit that will accommodate/support bigger boobs, and these brands work for me. Even though they aren’t specifically cup-sized, they’re still supportive enough — Summersalt is the best for this because their suits offer the most compression. I find one-shoulder and halter styles to be most flattering. Pro tip: try a suit even if it doesn’t come in cup sizes, because you never know. I’ve been happily surprised.
And no swim ensemble is complete without the ever important coverup. Invest in a good coverup, and feel good while lounging by the pool, walking to lunch, and strolling along the beach. My favorite brands for coverups are Summersalt and La Blanca. You can find a great variety of stylish coverups at Nordstrom.

What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : A Man Called Otto (Prime Video, AppleTV) was an unexpected surprise. Loved it! Tom Hanks as Otto was great, and his son Truman as the younger Otto was perfect casting. You’ll definitely enjoy this one — invite a few friends over and watch together.
MEGAN : Murder Mystery 2 (Netflix) starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Big comedy with a star studded cast. Aniston/Sandler start a detective agency and get hired to find their friend that gets kidnapped from his wedding. It’s good for the laughs and the scenes in Paris.
What We’re Eating
MEGAN : It’s not what I’m eating, but where I want to eat. The James Beard cooking award finalists were announced last week. Check out the article here. Washington DC has a best new restaurant nominee, Causa | Amazonia. The menu is Peruvian and inspired by the rain forest. I love trying new restaurants and this is my go to list for finding them.
Random Stuff We Like
CHRISTA : Many of us enjoy a little Modern Farmhouse decor in our homes, so I rounded up some favorites from Amazon that I think you’ll like. Did you know they have a whole section just for Modern Farmhouse? They actually have sections for almost every decor style you can imagine, and this makes shopping so much easier. I’m sharing some shopping tips below to make it simpler to navigate Amazon’s decor.
tiered tray // wire basket // canisters // this bowl // framed prints // rooster // shop the entire farmhouse look
This tiered tray is perfect for entertaining, or use it to organize a kitchen counter or home office (I have two of them and use them all summer long on the patio). I have this wire basket in my laundry room — it’s great for tossing in dirty kitchen towels that need to be washed. These canisters would be perfect in so many rooms — laundry room, kitchen, home office, or fill them with pet treats! And can we take a minute to admire this bowl? It’s waiting patiently in my cart, and as soon as I find a spot for it, I’ll be ordering! These framed prints are a great neutral touch for any empty wall, and come in sizes from 8×10 to 16×20, framed and unframed. And no farmhouse is complete without a rooster; I have a similar one on my kitchen table and love it!
Shopping Tips for Amazon Decor
Amazon has some amazing home decor at affordable prices, but because there is so much, it’s often hard to find just what you’re looking for. Here’s a quick tip…when you’re shopping for home decor, start with their main Home Decor page. From here, you can filter by room, by style or by category. When you shop by style, you can find everything from Modern Farmhouse, Bold Eclectic, California Casual, Global, Rustic and French Country, as well as Traditional, Transitional and a few others. These links make finding just what you need on Amazon so much easier.
Something to Gift (That They’ll Love!)
MEGAN : Need a girlfriend birthday gift? Or send a friend that’s having a bad week a little pick me up? This $30 lip set is super cute.

Something for the Guys
MEGAN : I don’t know if you heard but it’s vest season. My husband’s beloved black down vest has gone missing and I’m replacing it with this. They tell me the cool kids are wearing Carhartt now? Pro tip: It’s water resistant!
Something You Need (Trust Us!)
CHRISTA : Make your rings look like new again. This Dazzle Stik is so simple, yet works so well. Pro tip: perfect to tuck in with an engagement/shower gift for the bride-to-be!
What We’re Listening To
CHRISTA : Looking for some new music? Check out Lewis Capaldi. Besides being extremely funny, he is incredibly talented. Have a listen to his newest song and check out his Netflix documentary.
