Cinnamon rolls are usually reserved for special occasions around here, but last week both my sons were home and that was occasion enough for me to make these treats. These are super fast and very easy — I bet you even have the ingredients on hand. Puff pastry from Trader Joe’s, butter, sugar, cinnamon and a splash of milk or cream is all it takes to make their mouths water and keep ’em coming home for breakfast. What more does a mama want?
These would also be an easy breakfast next time you have guests staying over. They’ll love waking up to the smell of these tasty treats in the morning.
Easy Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
- 1 roll puff pasty (defrosted) I love TJs but any brand works
- 3 tbsp soft butter (not melted)
- 3 tbsp light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon add more or less depending on how cinnamon-y you like it
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp milk or cream half and half works too
- 1 splash vanilla
Instructions
- preheat the oven to 350
- coat a pie plate, cookie sheet or casserole dish with butter or non stick spray
- unroll the defrosted puff pastry and smear it with butter
- sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over entire puff pastry sheet
- from one end gently and evenly roll the puff pastry making a log
- cut the log in half, cut the halves in half, etc. until you have 8 pieces
- place them (touching) in the pan and pop them in the oven
while your cinnamon rolls are cooking, make the frosting:
- in a bowl add powdered sugar, milk and a dash of vanilla
- whisk until smooth (you might need to add more powdered sugar or milk here depending on your desired consistency).
- when the rolls come out of the oven, let them cool for about 5 min. then pour the glaze over top.
