Welcome to another Best of Style Among Friends! Another month means another edition of our favorite post. We’re sharing your favorites and ours from the past month, along with a recap of what was on the blog (in case you missed anything).
CHRISTA : It’s October! Sweater weather is here! Yay! I can finally start wearing the sweaters and jackets I bought from the Nordstrom Sale back in July. I love a “good jeans + sweater + booties” combo as temps get cooler. It’s my favorite way to dress! Clearly we’re all ready for sweaters based on the “top five” lists this month!
MEGAN : Fall means layers. I’m still sporting my white jeans, but with navy or gray sweaters. Lots of layers, tee shirts with cardigans and jeans or chinos. I’ve been wearing my olive green chino style pants with a variety of tops and my jean jacket lately. The weather man says lows in the 30s this weekend so I think I’ll need to break out more jackets. Here we go!

It’s time to add layers and you all agree! Christa’s sweater game is on fire, this V-neck grandfather cardigan is so cute with jeans and tee. The Crew Neck side split pull over is begging us to try it with faux leather leggings and boots. Who doesn’t need a sweatshirt moto jacket? This jacket/sweatshirt (sweacket?) is perfect for all your travel needs and gives off that cool girl vibe. We’ve been telling you to update your lipstick for fall, and “Twig” from Mac is a universally flattering color. While you’re updating your lipstick why not update your bag? Take that plain old bag and get a jazzy new strap – it’ll be like a whole new purse for under $20.

TOP FIVE NON-AMAZON ITEMS
You guys, Walmart’s mixed media sweater is amazing and I’m so glad you agree. Even Megan’s mom bought one! We can’t get enough of the Target quarter zip, it’s the gold zipper for us! The JCrew short sleeve cashmere tee has been perfect for these wacky weather days. Shoes are such a fun fall update, and the Caslon water resistant boots are legit. The Mary Jane’s in velvet are the perfect trend update for this fall. We’ve been seeing them with long skirts and skinny jeans. Could this be the new ballet flat? We love seeing your favs, keep ’em coming!

OUR “TOP FIVE” FOR SEPTEMBER
We took a scroll through our order histories and here are five random September purchases that we want you to know about. We’re only sharing what we love and would buy again (and again and again!). Check them out!
CHRISTA’S BEST OF SEPTEMBER
I wear my SCHUTZ sandals all the time, so I was very happy when I found a fall sandal I like as much. Same heel height (2.5″- which is a perfect height for me), same comfort, and a beautiful fall color! Love them with my bootcut jeans and I’ve already worn them for several occasions.
This oversized hoodie is a must have for fall! It so comfy cozy, washes well, heavy enough to keep you warm on cool mornings. It is oversized, but that’s what makes it perfect to throw on in the morning with your favorite leggings. (Need a new pair of leggings – these CRZ Yoga leggings are a Style Among Friends must-have!).
Hoodie comes in 30 colors! Yes, 30!!! It was hard to choose, but I am loving this bright green – a departure for me from my usual black/grey. Pro tip: Don’t forget to check the box for an extra discount – this hoodie is a steal at around $35!
Motion Sensor Wireless USB Rechargeable Kitchen Night Lights
When I organized our pantry I added a light — and the whole family agreed that it was something we should have done sooner. It’s so simple, yet so effective. This is a nice warm-colored light, rechargeable, and magnetic so it’s easy to remove. The charge lasts about 2-4 weeks when used in motion-sensor mode.
This top from Madewell is a perfect layering piece. It’s definitely a shorter style (which normally I don’t like) but this one works. The bottom is elastic for a nice fit, and it’s great under your favorite fall jacket. Available in five colors, runs TTS. (I have the black one, too.)

Women’s Polo Sweater – A New Day
I normally don’t like shorter sweaters or the puff sleeves so I am not sure what made me buy this…but I am so glad I did because I love it! It hits just below the waist on my jeans so it’s not too short. I paired it with booties and my favorite white jeans for a super cute fall look. And it will be perfect with black jeans too.
Pro tip: Step out of your comfort zone every now and then, and try a new style or shop at a new store. You might be happily surprised! If not, don’t get discouraged. Not everything works for everyone (that’s why they have returns!), but you don’t know if you don’t try.
MEGAN’S BEST OF SEPTEMBER
I scored big at the Gap this month. This ruffle neck top with the small floral print reminded me of the Veronica Beard we saw earlier in the season. It’s the perfect way to stick my toe in the floral trend. I got the medium for reference. I’ve been wearing it with itty bitty boot cut jeans and my Aquatalia boots from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Another winner from the Gap! The color was the first thing that caught my eye about this dress. When it came in the mail and I felt how soft it was and realized it HAD POCKETS, I was sold. Wearing now with sneakers and clogs, will wear later with tights and loafers or boots.
I received a trial size of this perfume in my latest Allure Beauty Box and it is giving all the fall harvest feels. After going to 3 different Sephoras, my instant gratification heart broken, I ordered it online. PS Can we talk about the name? Who names a perfume after a dairy product?
This is a reorder for me, I’ve got three colors and decided to add the dusty mauve to my repertoire. It has a built in bra and is the perfect layer under long sleeve tees (esp if they are see through!). They are also great for low impact exercise – like walking with a friend! Pro tip: Size up at least one.
I fancy myself a sheet connoisseur. Seriously, I come from a long line of sheet lovers and this set might be the best I’ve had. They are Egyptian cotton, so soft – no break in period and they wash up beautifully. I’m currently ordering them for all our beds and ditching my old ones.

WHAT’S COMING IN OCTOBER
We’ve been brain storming over diet cokes and we think you’re really going to like what’s coming in October!
