Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.
CHRISTA : This is the last weekend for some great deals on Nordstrom Anniversary Sale basics. No need to rush to the store. Grab them all online and then sit back and let UPS bring you all your goodies. It’s a great time to refresh your favorites…and it’s guilt free shopping because it’s the basics I wear on repeat all year!
MEGAN : The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends this Sunday evening. Prices go up Monday, August 10th. There are still a lot of great basics in stock. If you need to refresh your socks, sneakers, jeans, workout tights — now is the time. We love stocking up on basics at the NSale.
What We’re Watching
MEGAN : Tennis anyone? I just watched the Netflix docuseries on Rafael Nadal. I know who Rafa Nadal is, but I didn’t know much about his life or even his tennis career. Four episodes, lots of subtitles but worth it. What an inspiring athlete.
CHRISTA : Have you seen Furious on Hulu yet? The first four episodes are now available, and you can catch the rest on Mondays. It’s a crime thriller with a rookie FBI agent and a serial killer out for revenge. Lots of twists, back stories and suspense to keep you wanting another episode!
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : Trying on some NSale purchases today. Every year they get my (a lot of my) money with their Zella collection of altheisure. And I will admit I bought this set (pullover and leggings) in two colors because it’s that good (the light purple is stocked in all sizes)! It’s not too late to grab some good finds in this year’s sale. Check out the Zella selection — your Walk and Talks will thank you this fall!
Style tip: I’m wearing my favorite OOFOS recovery sandals in the pic. If you don’t have a pair, I HIGHLY recommend them. I wear them all spring and summer instead of slippers at home and my feet are very happy that I do. When you’re over 50, every day deserves recovery sandals!
MEGAN :This Amazon top is the perfect light weight layer for these hot and humid August days. I’ve been living in the Gap linen blend pants this summer. So easy to throw on and go. My least favorite thing about linen is true for these pants as well, ya gotta iron em.
Fit tip: Top runs very short. Not for the long waisted girls that don’t want to show their belly.
What We’re Loving
MEGAN : Are the skeeters bad where you live? I’m getting eaten alive. One of my friends recommended these mosquito incense sticks and I might be addicted. They. Smell. So. Good. No chemi/bug spray smell. I stick them in a potted plant and they burn for three hours. One does my whole front porch.
CHRISTA : How cute is this tote bag?! Bonus, it is sized just right for all my mahjong stuff. It’s 24″ wide, so my 20″ mahjong racks in their protective case will fit in here. Under $100, and the colors just make me happy.

MEGAN : My favorite thing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is stocking up on basics at a discount! It seems like the sale has been going on forever, but they still have a lot of stock. Check your socks and make up brushes. This is a great time to replace and refresh those worn out items. The sale is also a great opportunity to treat yourself to an elevated basic, like a gray cashmere crewneck sweater. Timeless basics are a great deal at the Nordstrom Sale.

MEGAN : New book in my beach bag! This one was recommended by my dad. The Good Life by Douglass Wallop is not a new book. Originally released in 1969, a satirical novel about a couple who leave the everyday stresses of their lives to be a butler and a maid at a fancy Eastern Shore estate. Right up my alley – Thanks, Dad!
Pro tip: Check your local library, it’s not available at the normal retail chains.
CHRISTA : If you use a squatty potty at home, then this post is for you! They advertise it as the #1 way to go #2…and now you can take a folding version with you on your travels. Even includes a bag for it — thank goodness! Dare I say this makes a great gift?!
