Now Let’s Walk & Talk!
Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.
CHRISTA : I never expected mahjong to become one of my favorite ways to connect with people, but here we are. It’s the perfect mix of time with friends, meeting new people, and sitting around a table laughing while pretending we totally know what we’re doing. And honestly? I’ve also fallen hard for all the beautiful details…the colorful tiles, gorgeous mats, cute racks, and any excuse to set a fun and pretty table for game night. Let me know in the comments if you’re playing or planning to play. Do we need a Style Among Friends mahjong group?
MEGAN : New beginnings. Graduations, the first summer with no kids at home, and all the little changes that come with this stage of life can feel bittersweet. Embrace the newness, plan the date nights and girls’ weekends, visit the kids, and celebrate where you are right now — with an open mind, low expectations, and a willingness to say yes to fun.

What We’re Watching
MEGAN : Project Hail Mary, in the theater! The cinematography in this film is stunning. Really made it worth seeing on the big screen. The story felt a little long to me (2h36m), I started getting restless at the 2h mark. A few of my friends have read the book this film is based on and raved about it. It’s sci-fi, save the Earth, at it’s best.
CHRISTA : I told you about Widow’s Bay (Apple TV) a few weeks ago. It was at the top of my list for the new shows out this spring. Well, we’re a few episodes in and it did not disappoint. Definitely suspenseful! Definitely a nail biter! And definitely a few jump scares! I can’t wait to watch each week. We’re also watching The Terror: Devil in Silver. If horror and scary stuff is your thing, this is a must-watch, too.
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : On Wednesdays I play mahjong…and this is what I wore. Nothing special about this look, but the tip I wanted to share was to remember that leopard is a neutral. My leopard belt and flats work with anything in my closet. Buying something in leopard is a good investment and a great way to stretch your wardrobe budget. Keeping your leopard pieces when you downsize your closet is a smart move, too! Hair in a messy bun…I’m ready for game time.
Pro tip: Floral is always a good choice for your mahjong game. Matches so many fun mahjong tile sets!

MEGAN : I’m feeling retro in my canvas Keds! They are quickly becoming my favorite non-athletic sneaker. They come in regular and wide width and they are under $40. Is it 1987 again? Also, don’t sleep on this linen bomber. My stylish friend, Deb, was wearing it last week and I went straight to the store to get it. You’ll never guess where it’s from (or the price!).

What We’re Loving
MEGAN : Long time fan of Frank and Eileen, especially their french terry pieces. However, I am not a fan of the price point. While searching for french terry sweatshirts that are in my budget, (under $50) I stumbled on the Quince version. It’s perfection. I like it even better than the F&E version because the arms are a little bigger. Bonus points: Quince makes the matching pants!
Fit tip: Runs HUGE! Size down one or two sizes.

CHRISTA : Spring is the perfect excuse to give your front door a little refresh. I started with this new door basket from Etsy, and I’m genuinely so impressed with the quality. The shop, MissyRenesBouquets, was VERY quick, easy to work with, and just overall fantastic, definitely a 10/10 recommendation if you’re looking for something similar. Shop links for everything I have by my front door below.

What We’re Styling: A Backyard Grad Party
Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.
CHRISTA : When the invite arrives, I already know what ‘ll be wearing – this is the perfect moment for a cute, casual summer dress. My go to for cute easy dresses is always Avara, a small Dallas-based small business with some of the most fun, colorful and affordable styles. If you haven’t shopped them yet, what are you waiting for? They make finding the perfect outfit so easy because they have so many cute selections.
Style Tip: Wedges just work better when you’re partying in the grass!

MEGAN : I’d wear this red co-ord set to a back yard grad party or a bbq. I love a matching set, it takes the guessing out of what to wear. Short girls LOVE a column of color, it makes us look taller! Make each piece work for their space in your closet by styling them together and separately. The pants with a white tank and cotton American flag sweater, the top with cut off jean shorts and white sneakers.

Just for Fun
MEGAN : I’m on a reading bender…let’s fill your beach bag with awesome books this summer. Into the Blue by Emma Brodie – is an epic love story that spans decades. If you are a fan of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow you will love this book.

CHRISTA : More Mahjong links because apparently I’ve fully entered my Mahjong era. 😂 Ever since I started playing, I’ve been down a serious rabbit hole finding all kinds of fun and surprisingly affordable Mahjong accessories, bags, mats, and little extras. Sharing my favorite finds with you so you don’t have to spend hours searching and scrolling…because honestly, that’s kind of our specialty around here! What are you looking for–chances are I have it bookmarked already!
- Mahjong Line ID Stickers – easily identify and find the line you’re working on.
- Mahjong Tile Takers – help reach those tiles across the mat – fun to tuck in with a gift.
- Tile Bag – love the quality of this bag – similar to the pricier bags that sell for $60+…this one’s only $14.99!
- Card Sleeve – protect your NMJL card with a clear sleeve.
- Mahjong Tiles – I love the tiles I purchased from Amazon, under $200. Look and feel much more expensive. I love that they are slightly taller too (1.4″). The joker tiles are the cutest in the set! I got light pink – they also come in royal blue in the larger size, and several colors in a smaller 1.2″ size.
- More affordable tile brands: Virora Mahjong; Mahjong Atelier
- Both sold on Amazon, sign up on their sites for restock alerts.
Pro tip: bookmark this link, because many of these make great gifts for your Mahjong loving friends.
