Christa’s Finds

Now Let’s Walk & Talk!

Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.

CHRISTA : When you subscribe, you’re helping us grow, reach more women like you, and keep bringing you even more of what you love. As we grow, we’re able to share links, finds, and recommendations in a way that makes everything easier and more seamless for you. Every subscriber truly makes a difference and helps us keep showing up each week with the best ideas, without overcomplicating things. Thanks for being here every week!

MEGAN : Christa and I always want to be transparent with you, everything we share on Style Among Friends comes from our own experiences and opinions. None of our content is sponsored, and we personally purchase the clothes, accessories, and products we talk about. At the end of the day, we’re just two friends sharing what we find and love. By shopping our links you are supporting the work we do each week. Thank you!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Bugonia, now streaming on Netflix, was on my list to watch after it was nominated for four Academy Awards including best picture. Wow — I was not prepared for the kind of intense crazy this movie served. My son compared it to The Substance. If you are into psychological horror, gore and a good story with a twist this movie is for you.

CHRISTA : BEEF Season 2 (Netflix) started off a little slow, but now we’re fully in and can’t stop watching. It’s one of those shows that resets with a brand-new storyline, so you can jump right in without seeing Season 1 (but honestly… it’s worth going back for). And this season? Keeping track of who’s got a beef with who is practically a full-time job, in the best way. With all the blackmail that’s going on, it feels like a game of chess playing out on screen! Can’t wait to see who (if anyone!) comes out a winner!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Easy to wear, easy to pair with everything. This super lightweight sweater is the perfect beach or vacation sweater. Throw it on with white denim or a white maxi–it’s effortless, which we love! It was definitely the answer on an overcast, chilly spring day.

MEGAN : What do you wear when the calendar says May but the temperature says 50? I bring out my white jeans and a pastel cashmere sweater. Looks summery but feels warm. I’m also having a moment with these leopard driving loafers from H&M. Really comfortable and they go with everything. Under $40.

What We’re Loving

MEGAN : The woven leather “Dragon Diffussion” bag is back. Mine is six years old, (I have the Etsy version)I love it and still use it. The og is $600. The Etsy version is under $200, made to order and 100% leather, comes in multiple sizes (mine is the large). Full disclosure it ships from India and it takes a while, but it’s perfect. Can you tell which is the “real” and which is the “look for less”?

CHRISTA : I 🩷 an organized space! I recently tackled all of the water bottles and coffee tumblers. With my daughter living at home right now, and her obsession + my obsession for all the cute styles – they were overflowing the cabinet! First step was to do a little editing because we had so many. Then, I repurposed a larger lower cabinet. It already had a pullout shelf so I just added these adjustable dividers (no assembly needed!). (If you’re adding a pullout shelf, installation is easy–just measure twice to get the best size.) Everything is easy to grab, and it actually stays organized. I’m linking a similar pullout shelf and the adjustable dividers I used, and click the “shop more” (below) for even more options.

Pro tip: If you’re storing them on their side, be sure to grab one of these organizers. Perfect for an upper cabinet.

What We’re Styling

Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.

CHRISTA : This gingham dress works great for the more formal grad ceremony dressed up with your favorite heels. Or grab it for a backyard grad party paired with flat sandals or flip flops. Also comes in a cute green/blue check.

MEGAN : At some high schools and universities the parents wear the school’s colors to graduation, but what if orange and purple aren’t your colors? The neutral wrap shirt dress is the perfect “mother of the graduate” dress. Looks great in pictures, won’t compete with the star of the day, super comfortable and you will wear this dress for many occasions (Easter, brunch, baby showers, bridal showers, dinner with friends).

Style tip: Don’t forget to pack tissues in your purse. Something about watching your child achieve a momentous milestone gets you every time. Congratulation mama, you did it!

Just for Fun

MEGAN : I’m three quarters of the way through Go Gentle by Maria Semple and already don’t want it to end. I read Where’d You Go, Bernadette? Semple’s previous book and really enjoyed it, but Go Gentle is ever better. The protagonist is named Adora Hazard, I mean come on — that’s going to be my new screen name for something. Adora is a 50 something divorced single mom that is creating a “coven” of other single women over 50 on the 7th floor of her apartment building. It’s genius. There’s also a mystery woven in to the story. Trigger warning: sexual assualt.

Shop the Book

CHRISTA : Super easy gift idea! This under $10 bottle wrap from Beau Bottles makes a beautiful gift without a lot of work. The wrap shrinks to the bottle using a hair dryer or heat gun. They come in tons of fun patterns for any occasion, in sizes for prosecco, champagne, wine or mini bottles. You can also buy the optional bow for an extra touch. I added a gift tag from my favorite stationary vendor, Joy Creative Shop. Voila! Instant gift any one will love.

Pro tip: Buy the practice wrap for $1 to try it before you do the actual one. And if you have one, use a heat gun. My hair dryer wasn’t hot enough so I had some wrinkles in my wrap. It still looked cute though.
