Now Let’s Walk & Talk!

Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.

CHRISTA : If you’re waiting for a “right time” to wear something you love, this is that time. Lunch with friends counts. Errands count. Tuesday counts. Or how about throwing a “Nowhere to Wear This” party and everyone can wear that thing they bought and never wore! Life is happening now, so rip off those tags and wear it!

MEGAN : Not every day is an A plus outfit day – and that’s ok. Most days you’ll find me in a uniform of jeans, button down, sweater / jacket repeat. A comfort “uniform” is the foundation of your personal style. On the days you want to elevate your uniform, tuck in the tee, add jewelry, a scarf, ballet flats or loafers. A wise friend told me that a great outfit is the difference between wearing your clothes and styling them.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : I finally saw Song Sung Blue and it was like a sing a long. Kate Hudson crushes this movie, she is great. Based on a true story about a Wisconsin couple that finds success and love while creating a Neil Diamond tribute band.

CHRISTA : There is so much great TV programming coming out in April (check out this list). There isn’t a single show on that list that I don’t want to watch. So, until May arrives and our pool opens, you know where to find me! I think I’ll start with Matthew Rhys’ new horror thriller Willow Bay on AppleTV.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Just a little remix of my go-to spring outfit formula. Swapped my kick flares for straight ankle jeans (I just love how they pair with ballet flats). Traded the colorful blouse for my new favorite short sleeve sweater… still with a hint of puff in the sleeve, of course.

And the leopard belt? She’s staying. Always.

Proof that once you find an outfit formula you love, getting dressed becomes so much easier… just mix, match, and go.

Style tip: My exact sweater is sold out but you can get on the waitlist for it. In the online pic, it looks beige but it is definitely a soft grey.

MEGAN : Spring means layers. I love the way this Slade jacket looks with just the top buttons closed and the striped shirt peeking out. Feels undone – but in an intentional way. It was so chilly this evening I almost threw a cashmere sweater over my shoulders for a little extra warmth. Layers, layers, layers!

Fit tip: This jacket is a ponte knit, it stretches. I would still size up one for a comfortable fit.

What We’re Loving

MEGAN : I might have just found THE PERFECT PANTS. I tried the Aritzia Lodge pants, the Target dupes, the Quince dupe and a few more along the way. This pair from the Gap, well, they blew them all away. I took them on a trip, wore them on a seven hour flight and before I got home I went online and ordered them in three more colors. Throw them in the washer and dryer and they come out perfect, no wrinkles. Did I mention they are under $100? Come in 5 colors, Tall-Reg-Petite and linen.

CHRISTA : Recently started learning how to play Mahjong. Why didn’t anyone tell me how fun (and addicting) it is? If you’re in Northern Virginia, I highly recommend Talk Tiles to Me for lessons. I hosted the lessons at my house (you can do up to 8 people). They brought everything we needed for a two hour lesson that included our first game. Pro tip: Ask for Jillian – she was fabulous! By the time the lesson was over, we already had our next practice session on the calendar!

Of course, I’ve been down the rabbit hole of all things Mahjong! No wonder all you ladies love it so much…there are so many beautiful table scapes, tiles, mats, totes, racks…you name it. I’m definitely keeping my eye on these “Best in Show” tiles (available in June) with the adorable “Doggie in the Window” mat – both from That Mahjong Moment. Leave a comment with your favorite places to shop for Mahjong “stuff.”

What We’re Styling: Something for Everyday

Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.

CHRISTA : I feel like LOFT has been on fire with their recent collections. So many great/affordable finds that are extra cute. They’re making it very easy to create everyday looks that feel polished, put together, AND comfortable to wear all day. Here’s what I have in my cart right now.

MEGAN : My daily uniform is jeans and a tee. To elevate my everyday look and make it more of an “outfit” I added a scarf (bandana print is having a moment!) and a cute funnel neck jacket. The difference between styling your clothes and wearing them is the attention to detail and accessories.

Style tip: Keep your everyday style look easy and classic by sticking to three colors.

Just for Fun

MEGAN : This Vogue article is detailing the 11 key trends for spring 2026. Do you own any of them already? What will you be adding?

CHRISTA : Mark your calendars: The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters May 1. It’s the perfect excuse for a girls’ night out, so go ahead and send the group text now. Dinner, a little pre-movie chatter, and then settling in for the fashion drama? Yes, please. And since great style is all about the accessories, don’t forget the most important one of the night: the AMC popcorn bucket purse. Because honestly, what’s more iconic than snacks and a statement bag? 🍿👜 Miranda Priestly might even approve!

I agree; Song Sung Blue was excellent! Hugh Jackson should have also gotten an Oscar nomination!
