Welcome to the Walk & Talk
Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.
CHRISTA : Sometimes the more important question isn’t “Does this fit?” but “Does this feel like me?” Somewhere along the way, many of us started dressing for rules, expectations, or invisibility. This is your reminder to choose pieces that feel alive and entirely yours. It’s also the simplest, most honest way to edit your closet, especially as many of us are downsizing or streamlining. If it no longer feels like you, no matter how “useful” or “good” it once was, it may be time to let it go and make space for what truly does.
MEGAN : If you have kids in college, spring is a long haul of “when will I see you again?” Cue spring parents weekend! Thank you to the inventor of this hallmark holiday that moms everywhere are living for right now. Put it on the calendar and cross off the days until you go visit your child and marvel at how they are thriving and adulting. Good job mamas, pat yourself on the back.

What We’re Watching
MEGAN : Steal on Prime caught our attention right from the grid. Sophie Turner (Joe Jonas ex and Game of Thrones babe) stars as the unsuspecting participant in a modern day financial heist. Set in London, current day, you will be kept guessing who, how and why all the way to the last episode.
CHRISTA : When Shrinking (Apple TV) first came out, my husband and I didn’t really care for it. But now that it’s in it’s third season (and still getting such rave reviews), I decided to give it a second chance. I downloaded it for a recent trip and loved every second of it! Not sure why it didn’t hit right the first time, but second time around and I am hooked. The short 30-40 min episodes make it a great weekend binge if you want to catch up to season 3.
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : This lightweight brown sweater is such an easy piece for this time of year. It’s perfect for those in-between spring days or tossing in a suitcase for travel when you want something cozy but not heavy. I love it with white jeans or try pairing it with your midi skirt.

MEGAN : My current empty nest, mom uniform is this: jeans, button down, cashmere sweater and these Mary Janes or my Adidas Spezial. I am comfortable and ready for pretty much anything that comes up in a day. The comfort of a “uniform” or a formula for getting dressed makes life so much easier, you don’t have to really think about it. Highly recommend.

What We’re Loving
MEGAN : Do you have a pair of shoes that are “too flat” but you can’t put an insole in them? I picked these cushioned liners up in the check out line at DSW and I couldn’t be happier. They are the perfect no show, non-slip, cushie, slightly thicker than a panty hose liner that go in all my loafers and flats. I’m obsessed — currently one of my favorite things.

CHRISTA : I’m starting to plan ahead for our summer vacation in Northern Europe and found this great bag for day excursions, from lululemon. How cute is the ruched crossbody strap! A good travel bag needs to be big enough (but not too big!); it needs to zip closed for added security; it needs to be under $100; and it needs to go with everything. Check, check, check AND check! (Plus, the one’s water-repellent for those unexpected rainy days!) And, naturally, it needed a whole look to go with it! Where will you go with this new bag?

What We’re Styling: For Spring Parents’ Weekend
Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.
CHRISTA : Have you stopped by LOFT recently? They are on a serious roll with their newest collections. (Every piece in this collage is from LOFT.) This feminine spin on a rugby shirt is perfect for a day on campus. I am loving the subtle asymmetrical detail on this denim midi skirt, and that tote pulls double duty as both a travel bag and an everyday carry. Swap the sneakers for wedges or flats, and just like that, you are set for a day filled with campus events through dinner out with your favorite people.
Style Tip: Check out the collage link. I’ve included a few extra options for skirts, shoes and shirts.

MEGAN : A warm spring day on any college campus makes us nostalgic for those carefree days of yore. When visiting your college student for spring parents’ weekend, dress in layers, comfortable shoes and don’t forget your rain coat. You will be doing LOTS OF WALKING — make sure your shoes are comfortable.
Style tip: I use this spray on all my fabric and suede shoes to waterproof and protect from stains. Not perfect but it definitely helps.

Just for Fun
MEGAN : Need a quick dinner idea the whole family will love? Try Barbara’s Chicken Pot Pie. Seriously good, there will be no leftovers. 15 min hands on and 30 min in the oven.

CHRISTA : It’s time for March’s Closet Tip to help you tackle your organizing little-by-little each month. March is the perfect time for a quick shoe and handbag reset. Clean your winter boots before storing them, then move your spring flats, sneakers, and sandals to the front so you’ll actually wear them. Give handbags a quick refresh too by stuffing them with tissue so they keep their shape. If your shelves feel crowded, I love these clear shelf dividers to keep things organized so you can see what you own. When you can see your bags and shoes, you’ll buy less and wear what you have.
