The Guy’s Guide to Father’s Day Gifts (2023 Edition)

Drum roll please! Once a year, we give our husbands a little space on the blog with the Guy’s Guide to Father’s Day Gifts! Drew and Ian are sharing their recommendations and their comments (with a few edits to keep it a G rating!) to help you with your Father’s Day gift giving. Whether you’re shopping for your father, husband or any special man in your life, these gifts will surely be a home run.

Ian’s Gift Guide

guys guide to father's day 2023 - ian

PRIMO CERAMIC GRILL // The Dark Lord of Father’s Day Gifts.  Get large or extra large size to feed a hoard. You’ll have hubby cooking weekday gourmet dinners in no time.  Wood planked Salmon, hickory smoked steak, Berkshire Porkchops. The oyster will be his world.  Sit back, nuke a side dish and sip a cool Chard while your man sweats happily over the open flames.

KLIPSCH ATMOS SPEAKERS // Now that Dolby Atmos has gone mainstream, kick up the performance of the home theatre by having your man wire up these delightful powerhouses.  The gentle atmospheric sound of birds tweeting and breezes blowing will have your man snoozing thru your favorite RomCom with a smile on his face.

CARHARTT VEST // Nothing says Alpha Da-Da like the black vest.  Put an intimidating, redneck spin on the pudgy torso of your Dad with the Carhardtt logo.

GARDEN LIGHTS // Your father will find everlasting joy decorating the estate with China’s finest.  Follow the whimsy of your inner faerie and select lights you like best.  Make sure to order more than you think you need.

RANGE FINDER //  For the golfer who plays a data driven game, the range finder is essential.  Will drive home to your techie Dad just how bad he is at golf.

BULLEIT FRONTIER BOURBON WHISKEY – 10 YEAR //  Nothing says Happy Father’s Days more than an old man inebriated on the brown liquor.  Get the aged, small batch Bulleit, and say buh-bye to any holiday sexy time.

AIRPODS MAX // These beauties are truly remarkable.  Entirely banish the howl of a zero-turn mower or a jumbo jet with these muffs riding on your man’s melon.  Yet feel confident that any voice commands you bark at your Dad will penetrate with the clarity of a caged cockatiel.  Amaze balls.

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 // Nurture the inner child and hone the swearing skill of your father with this cowboy western themed video game.  Not only will you have time to paint your nails, but you could safely escape to Cabo for a girls vacation and return to find your man drooling on the couch,  eyes all bulgy and reddened.  How’s that for redemption?

DIZZY PIG SEASONINGS // Simply superior.  I recommend the Mad Max for poultry, Ghost for steaks and the coarse ground Dizzy Pig for all BBQ.  Your man will surely be excited when he hears you are giving him not one, but four or even seven rubs.

TICKETS TO A BASEBALL, PLL GAME OR CONCERT // Turn Father’s Day into a family outing by arranging a joyful experience at a pro sporting event or music venue.  If budgets are tight, head to the closest bridge with your man, a pole and a cooler, drop a bobber in the water and see what happens.  If your man is really not worth much, unfold a few lawn chairs in the front yard and fill a tub with PBR’s.  For many of us dads, this would be a wonderful way to spend the day.

Drew’s Gift Guide

SPEAKER // Sonos is the leader in whole house music. The Move is the most versatile and powerful outdoor/portable speaker in their line-up. It is also a Bluetooth speaker if you’re out of range for Wi-Fi. Plus, it responds to voice control through Amazon Alexa or Google.

OUTDOOR MOVIES // This movie set-up is definitely on my “wish-list”. If you want to you enjoy movies on a big screen with a big crowd, this projector and screen would do the job.

TIDBYT // The Tidbyt has an old-school look but a lot of cool functions. It won’t listen in on your conversations (it doesn’t have a microphone), but can display a lot of useful stuff. OK, maybe some not so useful but just fun! “Tidbyt is a retro-style display that lets you keep up with the things you care about, like real time sports, transit, finance and more.

SNEAKERS // I’m done trying shoes since I started wearing Kiziks. These are so easy to put on – made to slide into without crushing the back – and are very comfortable. I also really like the variety of colors and styles.

SOCKS // DeadSoxy are my new favorite socks, and not just because they have a collection based on my favorite college colors. The quality is outstanding – even down to the way they are packaged. The dress socks are super comfortable and actually stay up. And the no-shows are the first I’ve found that actually stay on my heals. Pro Tip: 25% off plus free shipping, through June 18, code DAD25

BBQ RUB // Sure Shot Sid’s makes a lot of great varieties of BBQ rubs. The Original Gunpowder is probably my favorite. It has a smokey flavor and goes with just about everything.

BELT SET // This belt by Anson Belt & Buckle looks great and is incredibly versatile. You can chose from a wide variety of belt and buckle styles that can be mixed and matched. Best of all, the belt sizing can customized and micro adjusted. (That’s really handy when you need to loosen that belt after a day of summer grilling.) Pro tip: The five piece gift set is on sale for $99.99 (reg. $149.95.)

SLIM WALLET // If you are looking for a slimmer, more “modern” wallet, the options from Ekster are great. These wallets have a very cool mechanism that fans the card out of the cardholder with a press of a button. Don’t let the man in your life carry around a “George Costanza” wallet anymore!

SHORTS // These shorts from Tommy Bahama look like summer. They’re covered with lobsters, palm trees and beer bottles embroidered into them.

TAILGATE GRIDDLE // We added a griddle to our college football tailgating setup last fall. This 28” model from Blackstone was perfect. It has all the features you need, including two burners, side tables and a hood to protect the griddle surface when you’re not using it. Nothing like an Oklahoma Onion burger on a griddle. Here is a video of the “burger historian” making them:
