Walk and Talk (and Using The Outfit Formula)
Last week was all about an outfit formula that works to create easy, no fail outfits for every day activities. This week, we’re sharing how we’d take those pieces and mix-and-match to create eight outfits to get you from the grocery store to date night and everything in between.
A little refresher – these are all the pieces in our basic outfit formula. We also recommended some jewelry and a few “bonus items” to add some style to your look. Check out last weeks post for additional details and links.
Here are eight looks for everyday life, using the pieces we shared with our no fail outfit formula:
What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : If you liked Keri Russell in The Americans (a great show if you haven’t seen it!), then you’ll enjoy her as the new ambassador to the U.K. Kate Wyler in The Diplomat (Netflix). This started a little slow for me — a lot of diplomatic talk about agencies, missions and politics that was a little cryptic, but once you get past that, the show takes off. This is the first season (just eight episodes) and much of it was spent laying the groundwork for the key players and their agendas. There is a HUGE cliffhanger at the end, so fingers crossed this show gets its season two!
MEGAN : Do you read the book before you see the movie? I’m watching The Last Thing He Told Me –Apple TV+ (book by Laura Dave). My book club read the book a few years ago and I knew they would make it into a movie/series. Jennifer Garner steals the show as Hannah. Even though I know how it’s going to end, I look forward to the weekly episode drops.
What We’re Shopping For
CHRISTA : Stocking up on a few products I know I’ll need this summer, including:
- eltaMD tinted moisturizer – this on is anti-aging with dermatologist preferred sun protection you needtinted sunscreen every morning
- tinted lip balm with SPF – one for the purse, one for the pool bag
- cooling eye gel patches – great daily for puffy eye and dark circles
- sunscreen for your scalp – necessary if you’re lounging by the pool
- oil control blotting sheets – keep some in your purse and pool bag because by late afternoon they’re necessary!
What We’re Listening To
MEGAN : New season new playlist. This is what I’ve been listening to while I cook dinner. The first song has what might be my favorite lyric of all time.
“I heard that your were drunk and mean down at Dairy queen.”
Indigo Girls
SAF Playlist: summer at the dairy queen
What We’re Eating
MEGAN : Ice cream season is almost here and you know what that means? Hot fudge sundaes. It’s so easy and so good your family will offer to do the dishes! Here’s a recipe for quick and easy (like 5 min) homemade hot fudge sauce. Pro tip: Make a tray of blondies, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with hot fudge sauce.

Something Quick to Read
All About Outfit Formulas/Style Uniforms
MEGAN : We’ve been talking a lot about style uniforms lately. Here’s a great article from W Magazine that offers insight into the why and how of having a uniform. Best quote from the article:
People who invent uniforms for themselves tend to be of a creative, entrepreneurial, or highly efficient sort, lending the habit twin auras of power and eccentricity.
Something Just For Fun
MEGAN : Have you ever wished your necklace was longer? Try adding a bracelet to one end. Put the bracelet side in the back and you will have a longer necklace. Or hook two bracelets together and make a new necklace.
Something We Don’t Want to Miss
CHRISTA : Settle in this weekend with your cup of tea, tasty scones and favorite fascinator! It’s the coronation of King Charles! If you’re planning to watch, this article by Town & Country has all the details you’ll need to know. Spoiler alert: set your alarm because the ceremony starts at 6am EST.
Friends Share the Good Stuff
CHRISTA : Our stylish friend Tammy received this handy valet tray as a gift, and it’s something we all need for traveling. The tray lays flat in your suitcase, just snap the corners upon arrival. Never lose an earring in the hotel again! It’s a travel must-have, and (as Tammy appreciates) it’s also a great gift idea. Thanks, Tammy, for sharing!

What’s Trending…
The most popular link from the outfit uniform post last week is this pointelle cardigan from Boden. We shared the oatmeal color, but love the blue and coral, too! This sweater pairs perfectly with the wide leg linen pants in our outfit formula for your summer “uniform.” But it also works with casual shorts, and white denim or pants for date night. This will be a summer go-to, and also work well into the fall with your denim jacket.
