A little peek along our walk this week…
Spring is definitely in full bloom! The birds are chirping and the weather is warming up. Time for some outfit inspiration as we transition to a new season.
Walk and Talk (and Outfit Inspo)
We’re walking and talking about spring outfits (again!). It’s always fun to dig deep in your closet and find that hidden gem you forgot about — just mix it in with something new for the season for an updated look. It’s as easy as pairing your favorite top with white jeans instead of blue As the temps get warmer, we thought it would be fun to share a little outfit inspo with you, mixing and matching pieces we’ve already shared on the blog. So many versatile finds that go with anything! Did any of your favorites make the mix?
We hope our mix and match gives you some outfit inspo in your own closet. To get ready for the new season, start with what you loved from last year. Then, mix in a few new trends this year to create new looks you’ll love wearing that are current and feel good in!

What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : Currently watching the new show The Big Door Prize on Apple TV. Find out how a small town reacts when residents learn their life potential from a mysterious machine that appears at the general store. What would you do if you were told your true life potential? How would that change how you lived?
MEGAN : Transatlantic (Netflix) is right up my alley. Set in the 1940s this limited series tells the (unknown to me) story of Varian Fry. Varian was an American that went to France as part of the American Emergency Rescue Committee to help artists and thinkers, all refugees, escape the Nazis. The show is filmed in Marseille, France –known for it’s ports as an immigration hub. The story is as captivating as the scenery and costumes.
What We’re Shopping For
MEGAN : Lots of requests for graduation (mother of the graduate) dresses, so we rounded up a few. Not only would these dresses be great for graduations, they’re also perfect for Mother’s Day, everyday, date nights, girls lunch — pretty much anything. Best part? These 10 dresses are all UNDER $100, 5 of them UNDER $50.
For a little more outfit inspo, you can pair them with our favorite shoes and accessories to complete the look.

What We’re Reading
MEGAN : Last week on spring break I read the best book. I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai. Her last book The Great Believers was my favorite read of 2021. I Have Some Questions for You is a coming of age story mixed with a true crime thriller. I couldn’t put it down, the characters are so well written and the female protagonist is flawed, real and likable. I’m not going to tell you anymore so I don’t ruin it.
What We’re Eating
CHRISTA : I think we can all agree that menopause SUCKS! Where did all this excess weight come from and why did it all have to land right in my middle?! If you’re like me, you’re spending a lot of time Googling menopause symptoms. As a result of those Google searches, something I’m trying to be mindful of is how much protein I get. I’ve read a lot of articles, and found that protein can help with many menopause symptoms. The general consensus I’ve discovered is to eat around 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram of weight for menopausal and post-menopause women. The extra protein, plus lots of water and extra steps each day, is also helping me feel less bloated, less tired, and a few pounds have come off.
Here are some protein rich foods I like to add to my day to help get 50+ grams of protein daily. I aim for 20 grams per meal. (Pro tip: I use the Lose It app to track my food and how much protein.)
- Chicken breast (3 oz) – 26 grams
- Luna lemon zest protein bar – 9 grams. I grab one of these heading out the door to avoid the drive-thru.
- 2 scrambled eggs – 18 grams. Add a strawberry greek yogurt – 12 grams – to have a protein rich breakfast.
- Quest chili lime chips – 20 grams. Have you tried these? Super yummy, high in protein, and great for that mid-afternoon snack craving.
- Protein smoothie – this one contains over 35 grams of protein.

Something Quick to Read
MEGAN : For all the Succession fans, The Cut has a great article about the “basic” fashion on the show. Great read, especially if you like sarcasm.
