Weekly Walk and Talk | 12.02.2022

Welcome to our weekly “walk and talk,” where we bring our weekly walks to you. Our walks are a time to catch up on family life, share online shopping hits and misses, exchange recipes, discuss our newest Netflix binge — all the stuff that friends share with each other. And now we’re sharing with you!

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : I really feel like I should have a holiday movie for you now that it’s December…but The Devil’s Hour (Prime Video) is too good not to share. It’s a chilling psychological thriller that you’ll want to binge from start to finish! It’s only six episodes so you technically could watch it in one weekend…just sayin’! We’re four episodes in and can’t wait to see how it ends!

MEGAN : The People We Hate at the Wedding was a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed out loud, cringed and watched the whole thing. I just had such high hopes for such an all-star cast: Kristen Bell, Allison Janney and Ben Platt. It was fine, good but not great.

THE WALK AND TALK GIFT GUIDE

So many great items for your walk and talks in 2023! Many of these we own, and several are on our own wish lists. While these would all make great gifts, we recommend you add them to your own wish list, too. Pro tip: It’s okay to drop a few hints or send a link!

CHRISTA :

1 – Northface Vest (lightweight, but very warm) // 2 – Sorel Out n About Booties for winter walks // 3 – Quilted Puffer Mittens

4 – AirPods for walking with your fave podcast // 5 – Athleta Pullover and RBX Fleece Leggings (these leggings will definitely keep you warm!) // 6 – Sherpa Belt Bag (lululemon is always sold out, but no worries because this is a perfect dupe!) and Athleta Coffee Run Wallet

7 – Necessaire Hand Cream for dry winter skin // 8 – fave water bottle comes in a leopard print // 9 – rechargable hand warmer

MEGAN :

1 – light up hat, don’t get caught in the dark! // 2 – Skin Food face cream, drug store rival to La Mer // 3 – Smartwool socks, October to April it’s all I wear

4 – grippy gloves, warm and functional // 5 – waterproof version of my fav ON sneakers // 6 – protective/healing lip balm

7 – vest, it’s the the asymmetrical zipper and stand up collar for me..swoon // 8 – Brooklyn lined joggers, own and love // 9 – wireless headphones (26k 5 star reviews and under $30 for those of us that are prone to losing things)

WHAT WE’RE READING

MEGAN : Over the holiday weekend I read Book Lovers by Emily Henry, it was such a treat I didn’t want it to end. Simple, sweet and witty even if somewhat predictable — the characters were real and likable. If you love the Hallmark channel and Christmas movies like me, this book is for you!

SOMETHING YOU NEED (TRUST US!)

CHRISTA : These Vionic slip-on sneakers are definitely something you need…trust me! I purchased my first pair a year ago and they’re still a go-to shoe for me almost every day. They’re supportive if you have any kind of foot discomfort like plantar fasciitis, they pair perfectly with all your athleisure outfits, and (bonus!) the Vionic brand is podiatrist recommended. I recommend them for running errands and days when you’re on your feet a lot, but they’re not necessarily a walking shoe for your longer walk and talks.

READER REQUEST

FROM OUR STYLISH READER NICOLE : What long winter parkas do you all recommend for dog walking and cold outdoor events?

MEGAN : During my hockey mom phase I lived in my Amazon parka by Orolay. Comes in a bunch of color, lots of pockets and covers the bum. Currently 20% off!

CHRISTA : My favorite winter coat for extra cold days is my Sam Edelman hooded down parka. It definitely keeps me warm all winter long; it’s insulated with down and feather fill. The faux fur trim on the collar is removable. It comes in six colors and runs TTS. Bonus — it’s currently on sale, too! And I’d pair this for your dog walk with the fleece leggings and other cold weather accessories in our walk and talk gift guides below.

MEGAN’S KITCHEN UPDATE

The hardware is on and you guys, it’s like the jewelry the cabinets NEEDED. I love it. Special thanks to all my stylish friends that weighed in on the knobs, pulls or handles controversy. Anyone want to take bets on a finish date? Should we do a little contest and the closest guess wins a prize? Put your guess at the finish date in the comments and the person that comes closest will win a prize from me.

SOMETHING JUST FOR FUN

CHRISTA : How cute is this! We all know someone that might enjoy this snowman sipper cup — it holds an entire bottle of wine!
