Before we begin…the news coming out of the Los Angeles area is devastating and unimaginable. Winter Self-Care

Embrace Routines that Fill Both Body and Spirit

MEGAN : Now that the Christmas tree is down and the kids are heading back to school, the house grows quieter which means it’s the perfect time to focus on you. Let’s talk about a little winter self-care. After years of putting everyone else first, now is the moment to embrace winter self-care routines that fill both body and spirit. Whether it’s starting a new exercise routine to get your energy flowing, soaking in a calming Epsom salt bath each week to relax and unwind, or (my personal favorite) experimenting with a fresh new lipstick shade to feel vibrant and confident, this season is all about reclaiming your time and prioritizing your well-being. Take this opportunity to rediscover (or try for the first time!) the little joys that bring you peace and happiness. After the holiday season, we’ve earned it.

Simple Ways to Stay Warm, Happy, and Renewed

CHRISTA : Winter is the perfect time to lean into self-care. The cold weather can take a toll on your body and mind, so it’s important to focus on staying warm and nourished. Start by creating a cozy space at home—think soft blankets, a favorite book, and maybe even some soothing candles. Keep your skin happy with hydrating moisturizers and face masks to combat dryness, and treat yourself to a cup of herbal tea packed with antioxidants. Little things like this can make a big difference in how you feel day-to-day.

Self-care in winter is also about tending to your mental well-being. With shorter days and less sunlight, it’s natural to feel a bit off, so try to prioritize things that lift your mood, like journaling, gentle yoga, or catching up with friends. Winter’s slower pace is perfect for diving into hobbies you love or even picking up a new one. Simple pleasures like a warm bath or a quiet moment with a hot drink can feel incredibly restorative. By taking time for yourself, winter can go from feeling dreary to feeling like a season of rest and renewal.

And, like we always say, there’s nothing better to lift the spirits than a good old-fashioned walk and talk with a friend. It’s perfect self-care for both the mind and the body!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Brighten up your winter wardrobe (and your winter mood) with a pop of color! Avara, a Dallas-based boutique, is one of my go-to spots for vibrant and stylish pieces, and their current sweater collection does not disappoint. This pink sweater is a standout—perfect for now, Valentine’s Day, and even transitioning into early spring. I’ve linked a few of my favorites for you to check out. Give them a try—sizing is true to size!

MEGAN : One of my girlfriends got married over the holidays and I’d forgotten how much FUN a wedding is! The challenge of finding the perfect winter, daytime wedding outfit kept me busy. Sadly, the Trish Scully dress I wore is sold out, however, Tuckernuck has an almost identical dress for under $200. I’ve seen the Tuckernuck dress in person and it is beautiful. Runs a little big on top (chest/arms) but otherwise tts. I had the scarf from the early 2010s in my closet and pulled it out, the company no longer exists (whatever happened to Fornash?) – BUT I found an almost identical one on ETSY. Just a reminder to keep the good stuff. Don’t purge everything, it’s nice to have a treasure or two on hand to pull out and complete a look. Oh and ladies, panty hose are back in!

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : New year, fresh undies. I like to start each year by cleaning out my underwear drawer and tossing all the frayed and uncomfortable undergarments that I’ve been shoving to the back of the drawer for months. (I’m looking at you too-tight sports bra.) To refresh my stash of underpants I tried a new-to-me brand, Honeylove. I ordered the non-compression, full-coverage crossover style and a three pack of cotton panties. Both are comfortable, seamless, don’t roll or ride. If you are cleaning out your drawers, treat yourself to some fresh panties from Honeylove. Also linking a few others that made the cut.

CHRISTA : New Year, New Hair, New You! January is a great time to review your haircare routine and give yourself a little TLC. This is my new favorite shampoo and conditioner, both by Kristin Ess. Perfect for all hair types; it’s sulfate free, color safe, hydrating, strengthening, color protecting. “Contains ‘Zip-Up’ Technology, our proprietary strengthening complex designed to “zip-up” split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, repairing damaged cuticles and giving shine.” Plus, I’m not a fragrance girl, but the signature Pear + Sandalwood + Magnolia botanical scent is subtle yet divine!

What We’re Gifting: Galentine’s Day Treats

We’re on a mission to make gift-giving fun, simple, affordable, and stress-free! Each month, we’ll bring you fresh, creative gift ideas to spark your inspiration and make every occasion extra special.

CHRISTA : Need a sweet Valentine’s Day surprise for a friend? Treat her to a little winter self-care for her nails. These nail polish remover wipes are super convenient and perfect for travel. Pair them with your favorite polish and a sweet treat–all from Target, so it’s an easy, thoughtful grab-and-go gift. Just add your own gift bag, or tie them in a clear bag with a pretty bow. Pro tip: You can jazz up this idea for a birthday by adding a one-month Audible subscription so she can enjoy a great audiobook while doing her nails. Bonus points if you include a list of your favorite audio picks in the card!

MEGAN : When your dog walking group meets and the wind chill is 2 degrees at 7 a.m., self-care is important. For Valentine’s Day, I made little goodie bags of winter self-care essentials to show the girls how much I appreciate them (and the fact that they dragged themselves out of bed). Can’t forget the doggos–these frosted bones are the perfect heart day treat for the furry friends.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Missing You (Netflix) is a Harlan Coben limited series mystery. These are my favorite because I can binge them in a weekend. Nothing like going to bed wondering whodunit. If you like British mystery thrillers/crime drama add this to your queue.

CHRISTA : TV doesn’t always need grand, multi-layered dramas. Sometimes, simplicity is key, and A.P. Bio (Netflix) is perfect when you want to watch something “light,” perhaps while you’re also scrolling through reels on your phone! The plot, in a nutshell: Harvard philosophy professor Jack Griffin, bitter about losing his dream job, becomes a high school AP Biology teacher in his hometown. Instead of teaching bio, he enlists his honor roll students to help him sabotage his rival and reclaim the job he believes he deserves.

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : Did you catch the Golden Globes last Sunday? I need to add Conclave and Heretic to my watch lists. My husband saw Shogun and said it was worthy of the hype. Meanwhile I sat on the couch and critiqued everyone’s outfits. Selena Gomez was my favorite – perfect color dress, hair, accessories and make up. Only edit would have been to hem the dress a teeny tiny bit higher to see a peek at the shoe. Here is WWD’s list. My least favorite, Ariana Granda. The color was not right for her skin/hair.

CHRISTA : This winter my nails have been extremely dry, so I’ve been giving them some extra TLC. In the evenings, I’ve been applying Londontown’s Restorative Nail Cream. It’s super easy to use—just massage it into your nails and the surrounding skin. It absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky or oily residue. I’m also using Londontown’s Get Well Nail Recovery to strengthen and revitalize my nails. For best results, apply it daily during the first week, then switch to every other day in the second week. I also linked the Londontown Rose Gold Hand Peel. I just ordered it and I’ll report back on what I think.
