What We Really Wore | October 2022

Curious what we really wore over the last month? Some days were not so glamorous, but this is real life, running errands, taking walks and working from home.

Have fun with your clothes this fall! Although we are sharing many pieces that are no longer available we hope that our outfits inspire you to get creative in your own closets. Dig to the back back and find a sweater or blouse you forgot about and pair it with your new jeans. Or add a jacket or cardigan to a short sleeve top and keep it going in your outfit rotation. Spend 15 minutes looking through your closet, see what you have and create a new outfit. When possible, we’ve linked to something similar if you’re looking to recreate a look.

CHRISTA’S OUTFITS

OK, before we begin, what is happening behind me? NOTHING!!!! It’s so boring! If anyone has some decorating ideas for the top of our dresser, I’d love to hear. It’s been empty like that for ten years because I just don’t know what to do! (OK, maybe not always empty, because all the empty laundry baskets go up there!) Anyone have ideas to pretty it up?

everyday look (left): blouse — quickly becoming a favorite – quickly selling out, but also available in a cream //  skinny jeans (old, WHBM; similar) // perfect fall sandals

fall outfit formula (right): blouse (have you shopped Avara yet?) // skinny jeans (old, WHBM; similar)

everyday look (left): this sweater is a perfect companion to your fav jeans – try it with black jeans for a dressier look //  skinny jeans (old, WHBM; similar) // necklace // stretchy bracelets (old; LOFT)

another everyday look (right): blouse (old, Old Navy; similar options) // again, the skinny jeans (old, WHBM; similar) // suede booties (old, Franco Sarto; similar)

athleisure (left): fav black leggings // jacket — love this! — looking for more from this brand! // basic tank // sneakers (these are a stylish athleisure look for errands/travel, but I probably won’t wear these on a long walk)

walk and talk style (right): fav black leggings // sherpa pullover (love this on cold mornings — and it’s on sale! plus, here’s this year’s version which is in my cart!) UPDATE: the sherpa pullover on Garnet Hill is selling out in most sizes but here is something similar from Amazon.

fall shoes currently on rotation: taupe booties // black booties (similar) // perfect fall sandals

MEGAN’S OUTFITS

recon mission to Target (left): sweatshirt // pants (similar) // sneakers

work from home and lunch with my son (right): blue top (similar or this one) // jeans (similar) // loafers // sweater (at the time this was published, 40% off in store and online)

grocery shopping day (left): jeans // floral top // clogs

field trip to DSW with Christa (right): blue and white striped sweater // red cords (similar) // golden goose sneakers

book club (left): short sleeve cashmere sweater (similar) // cream joggers (similar) // black sweater coat // ballet flats

WHAT’S IN OUR CARTS

Here’s a peek at some new things we’re eyeing up. Will they show up on the outfit page next month? Check back to see!

CHRISTA’S PICKS

  • Reordered my favorite cashmere sweater (last year, it accidentally ended up in the washing machine – big oops!). I love this one for everyday – cute with jeans and sneakers or boots – also great with your favorite joggers.
  • Have you seen these new WHBM Jeanie jeans? Wearing them now and love them! I seriously forgot I was wearing jeans because they feel like leggings! Available in two colors, in short, regular, tall and petite sizes, in XXS – XL. From their website: “…a mix of your favorite denim jeans with all the benefits of leggings. Made from an adaptable stretch fabric to smooth curves, enhance fit, optimize comfort, and contour your body from hip to hem. What’s revolutionary is how the Jeanie expands two sizes for a size inclusive fit, so if you gain or lose weight (and who doesn’t) then one pair is all you need.” Let me know what you think!
  • I was lacking a basic pair of black pants in my closet (and we all need that, am I right?). Trying these Wit & Wisdom black pants. Same “ab-solution” technology to slim, I sized down.

MEGAN’S PICKS

  • Have this JCrew cardi in my cart, the 40% off is big incentive. Think it would dress up jeans and tee and also look great with slacks or a dress.
  • Ordered a few other items during the JCrew extra 60% off sale. Time for a new pair of jeans and this black cardigan to replace one the moths got ahold of last year. Friendly reminder to wash your cashmere at the end of season and store with cedar chips or moth balls.
  • And my splurge item this month is this sweater. I tried to score the look for less in the Target designer sale over the weekend, but alas it was not meant to be. I broke down and ordered this baby since it’s on sale. Fingers crossed it’s the perfect piece to go with my coated denim from the NAS.

Re Christa’s comment on cashmere in the washing machine, I regularly wash mine in cold water on delicate in my machine using Laundress delicate detergent, and with a quick slick of the iron they come out like new. https://www.amazon.com/Laundress-Delicate- I use Laundress for our pajamas, sheets, and towels and love the scent.
