Welcome to our weekly “walk and talk,” where we bring our weekly walks to you. Our walks are a time to catch up on family life, share online shopping hits and misses, exchange recipes, discuss our newest Netflix binge — all the stuff that friends share with each other. And now we’re sharing with you!

What We’re Watching
CHRISTA : The Tender Bar (Prime Video), directed by George Clooney and starring Ben Affleck, is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by J.R. Moehringer. It’s about a fatherless boy who grows up with the guidance of his colorful bartender uncle/father figure and a mother encouraging him towards the better life she didn’t have. It’s a charming little movie set in Long Island, filled with ’70s nostalgia and some great music, too. (Affleck was nominated for Golden Globe and SAG Awards for his performance.)
MEGAN : Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 (Netflix) three one hour(ish) episodes. I watched this with my oldest son last week and we both just stared at the TV with our mouths open. Total chaos and this three part series gives you a front row seat. Insane that I don’t remember it at all. Was I that out of touch? It’s very entertaining if you like to watch dumpster fires (literally). Definitely R rated.
Random Stuff We Like
CHRISTA : Grab a clear bag for college game days this fall! Over 3,200 five star reviews, under $20, available in nine colors. Grab one for your student (pro tip: it’s perfect in your first care package!) and grab one for yourself for parents’ weekend.
MEGAN : I’ve got a new foundation from Amazon and I-AM-OBSESSED. Why is the whole world not talking about this stuff? (Under $20) It is light on the skin but gives a medium coverage (like an air brushed finish) and it comes with this ah-mazing brush. Shoot, the price is worth the brush alone. You must check it out. Seriously, what are you waiting for?
What We’re Shopping For
CHRISTA : OK, OK, OK! I know it’s still August! But fall will be here soon (fingers crossed) – it’s not too early to think about decorating. So here’s a little fall home decor inspiration, all from Amazon.

Friends Share the Good Stuff
Megan’s stylish mom, Leslie, has been reading the blog and she picked up this green dress from Banana Republic.
Banana Republic should thank Megan & Christa for inspiring this purchase. Worn recently to a college board meeting I was seated with the big donors, which I’m certain was due in large part to my outfit. Cool cotton fabric, pockets, dress up or down with chunky beads or a scarf, and add a blazer or cardigan when cool weather finally arrives—this one’s a winner!
Have something you love or can’t live without? Did you find a great deal? Well, do tell! Share with us and we’ll pass it along in our walk and talk…because friends share the good stuff!
What We’re Eating
CHRISTA : It’s back-to-school! If you find yourself with an empty nest (or a few high schoolers who are never home), you might want to try the Tovala oven and meal delivery program for easy weeknight dinners — no grocery shopping, no prep and almost no cleanup.
I’ve shared this before, and since we’re still using it every week for most dinners, I thought I’d post a followup. If you sign up online for their meal program, the oven is only about $99 (sometimes only $49). Meals are delivered weekly (you choose six or more meals each week). Meal prep takes about one minute – no joke! Then scan your recipe card to “program” the oven for your meal. (If you are cooking two of the same meal, you can do it with one oven.) And you’ll be eating in 20 minutes (or less). The meals are very delicious, perfectly portioned and they have a wide variety to choose from each week. Also great if you need lunch while working from home. Leave me a comment if you have any questions about it.
Something You Need (Trust Us!)
MEGAN : New season = new lipstick! I recently read a great article about picking the best neutral pink lipstick for different skin tones. I have several *ahem cough cough* of the lipsticks they mention and can attest to their greatness. Read the article, grab a girlfriend, go get a coffee (or a Diet Coke) and hit up Sephora or Target for a new shade.
What’s Trending
#barbiecore
MEGAN : Have you seen this new hashtag “Barbiecore” floating around the gram? I noticed it a few weeks ago and finally looked it up. Rumor is it started after the Valentino Fall ’22 fashion show that featured TONS of pink. I found some interesting thoughts associated with the hashtag on the internet. This article explains it really well.
But Barbiecore is more than just about the right pieces. It’s also about women reclaiming and embracing their power, explains celebrity stylist Erin Walsh, who’s responsible for styling Anne Hathaway’s iconic Barbiecore look from Valentino’s fall 2022 show. It’s about “celebrating the divine feminine and going for exaggerated feminine color, shapes and silhouettes,” she explains.
CNN
What do you think? Will you embrace the pink? Platform stilettos? Neon? I’m not sure I’m ready to go that extreme, but I do love the idea of #barbiecore being a celebration of powerful and feminine. As far as the exaggeration part, I think I’ll skip that.
