WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : We’re planning to watch Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (Netflix) over the holiday break. If you haven’t seen the first Knives Out movie (Amazon Prime) from 2019, you’re missing a great one! You’ll love the hilarious cast of characters played by Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans and Toni Collette (just to name a few). It’s a modern whodunnit mixed a lot of humor — and clearly the actors had fun making this movie! (It’s still at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.)

MEGAN : Are you traveling during the holidays and need something to binge? Or maybe you’re hiding from your family in the bathroom with your iPad? (<– No judgement). Here are a few shows that Style Among Friends deem binge worthy. White Lotus (two seasons) — the theme for season one is greed, the theme for season two is sex. Wonder what season three will bring? Yellowstone (five seasons) is a drama set in Montana. Family drama and saving their beloved ranch are the prevalent themes. If you liked Succession, this is the wild west version. If you haven’t watched Succession (three seasons, 4th coming Spring ’23!) add that to your list. Power, politics, money and family are the main themes. It’s also won 13 Emmys.

WHAT WE’RE WEARING

CHRISTA : It’s the holiday season, so I guarantee that most days I’ll be wearing comfy loungewear! If you’re in need of something new to lounge around in, you’re in luck with Target and their Stars Above brand! With a quick order pickup, you can be cozy all week long! I have this set (pants and top), and this super cute stripe set (pants and top) is perfect for the holidays. Pro tip: don’t forget some slippers, too!

MEGAN : Sharing my wrapping/cookie baking uniform. It’s so comfy and cute that you could wear it out! This would also be a great travel uniform if you have any trips coming up. Perfect for a long car day or the airport hustle.

LAST MINUTE PICKS FROM LOFT – ALL 50% OFF

CHRISTA : Megan and I took a spin through our local LOFT this week. Here are a few items that caught our eye, perfect to grab for a last minute gift, for a holiday outfit or for your New Year’s celebration. Do your shopping online with in-store pickup to avoid the last minute holiday shoppers! And, as a holiday bonus, all of these are 50% off until 12/24, putting them under $50! (And new arrivals are 30% off at LOFT until 12/24.)

  • Jeweled Henley Button Sweater — LOFT is really paying attention to the details, like the beautiful buttons on this sweater! Available in four colors, petite and regular, sizes XS – XXL. Sale price $37.47.
  • Cable Pom Pom Beanie — perfect last minute stocking stuffer! Available in five colors, only $19.97.
  • Jeweled Button Trim Sweater — another sweater with the sparkly button detail. Available in three colors, regular and petite, XS – XL. Sale price $39.97.
  • Ribbed Open Pocket Cardigan — the red one is perfect for Christmas Day (or Christmas morning with your PJs!). Available in regular and petite, sizes XXS – XL, four colors. Sale price $39.97.
  • Cozy Plaid Wrap – turn an everyday outfit into something Christmas-y with this cozy plaid wrap. When you’re buying a holiday-specific piece, why spend full price? This wrap is only $34.97!

MEGAN : This outfit immediately caught my eye when Christa and I toured our local LOFT. This top and velvet pants combo is giving Veronica Beard vibes. And in terms of cost per wear, not only would this make an awesome NYE outfit, it would also be super cute for Valentine’s Day. This whole outfit is on sale for under $70.

SOMETHING ON YOUTUBE

MEGAN : I’m down the rabbit hole of YouTube. Seriously, it’s like the shelf of encyclopedias that used to be in our family room in the 70s, but WAY BETTER. My current obsession are these short clips from Architectural Digest called Open Door AD. The episodes are less than 15 minutes and tour the inside of different celebrities homes. Travis Barker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Vanessa Hudgins the list goes on. So far my fav is Sienna Miller’s Thatch Cottage in the UK.

WHAT WE’RE SHOPPING FOR

MEGAN : Whew, it’s been a whirl wind of shopping lately. The UPS, Amazon and Fed Ex guys and I are all on a first name basis now. It’s time to take a few days off from shopping, but don’t worry we are gearing up for all the after holiday sales! Stay tuned.

MEGAN’S KITCHEN UPDATE

The POD is almost empty! My cabinets are full, a few loads have gone to Goodwill, and the dishwasher arrives tomorrow. (best Christmas surprise!) I even started hanging some pictures. Fun fact: Christa took the pics of my boys 15 years ago!

A FEW THINGS JUST FOR FUN

CHRISTA : Who knows the most about Christmas in your family? Put them to the test with these 60 Christmas trivia questions! The list includes movie and TV trivia, song trivia and history trivia. Have your dessert and a little friendly competition, too!

Having houseguests? Are you the houseguest? You might want to check out this article from Travel + Leisure to know exactly how long you can stay at someone’s house before wearing out your welcome. (Pro tip: If you are my brother and sister-in-law and you’re reading this, we love ya!)

MEGAN : While my kitchen renovation has made sharing recipes tough these last few months, I’ve got a great one for Christmas morning. Nothing says special day like delicious homemade Cinnamon buns. These are so easy they could be for any weekend breakfast. I leave out the cranberries, raisins and nuts (my family are not fans), and I bake them in a cake pan instead of muffin cups — there’s just something about pulling them apart that makes me happy. Make them for your Christmas breakfast they are SUPER EASY. Be sure to share a pic of your yumminess on IG, #showmeyourbuns!

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

A peek along our walk…we did a little “walk and talk” window shopping (loving all the festive window displays like this one at Talbots). And if Nordstrom is Megan’s mothership, then Christa’s home away from home is WHBM (who has some great options for New Year’s Eve on display). It was a VERY VERY cold day out walking, but a quick stop in Anthropologie warmed us up! We highly recommend and encourage a walk and talk route that includes a few cute shops!

It’ll be quiet around here over the next week as we spend time with friends and family this holiday season. We look forward to bringing you lots of new finds and fun stuff in 2023! Happy Holidays, friends!

If Megan and Ina’s sticky buns are on your menu for Christmas morning be sure to get Trader Joe’s puff pastry. It’s made in France. It’s all butter. And, stock up because it’s a seasonal item.
