What We’re Watching

CHRISTA : The Flight Attendant (HBO Max, TBS) was an unexpected surprise when it premiered in 2020! We didn’t expect it to be so much fun to watch! Kaley Cuoco is absolutely perfect as flight attendant Cassie, an alcoholic who gets herself into some serious trouble (most of which she can’t remember!) and she has to piece it all together while staying one step ahead of everyone else. This dark comedy/mystery/thriller is definitely worthy of a weekend binge – start now because Season 2 premieres April 21.

MEGAN : How did I miss this funny, little, quirky sitcom? Life in Pieces (Hulu) is a 20 min series (4 seasons) that tells the story of a family, Mom, Dad and their three adult children all at different stages of their lives. Star studded cast – Colin Hanks (you know – Tom’s son), Dianne Weist and James Brolin. It won a People’s Choice award for best sitcom. Life in Pieces ran from 2015-2019 and it’s guaranteed to make you laugh, so relatable on many levels. Put it on your list for when you need a quick giggle.

What We’ve Purchased

CHRISTA : As of last weekend, I was still looking for a new spring coat. (The WHBM jacket I mentioned a few weeks ago didn’t work for me. After trying on MANY other utility jackets, I realized the olive/army green just wasn’t my color (more on that in a future post!). I found this navy jacket, and love it for spring. The drawstring waist is a nice detail to give it a little fitted/feminine shape. and the blue is definitely a better color for me. I passed over this so many times when shopping on-line, but seeing it in the store and trying it on sold me. Fit tip: I purchased it in a regular size (not petite) and the sleeves are fine. I also sized down. The dress (in the pic) is also from LOFT (here).

MEGAN : Christa and I went to the mall last weekend to do some “work” and I found a few must haves on the sale rack at Nordstrom. I’m in a jacket phase, maybe because we are currently having two if not three seasons in a day. These beauties came home with me and I’m already wearing the heck out of them. This cropped utility jacket is starting to outshine my old faithful olive green jacket and the Avec les Filles shrunken bomber is giving me all kinds of sassy, cool girl inspiration. Perfect warm weather sub for my black leather jacket. Wear it with a slip dress or jeans and tee, this jacket will elevating any look. Everything we are seeing is saying bomber jackets are the new “it” piece, join me on the trend wagon!

What We’re Shopping For

CHRISTA : So many of us have enjoyed the shower tabs that Megan shared (including myself!). They really make your shower feel and smell like a luxurious spa! Did you know they make this assortment pack? It’s in my cart – I can’t wait to try every scent! Pro tip: This would be a great gift – Mother’s Day and Father’s Day will be here before you know it!

MEGAN : We are getting ready to take my youngest son on college tours and I’m on the hunt for some cute spring dresses to wear. Casual and comfortable dresses that can be worn with sneakers or flats, layered with a sweater or jean jacket. Luckily he wants to look in the south – so I’m leaving my parka at home. Here are a few dresses in my cart. Love the sweet floral print on this one and the boho vibe of Cleobella always gets me (this pink has me all heart eyes). Couldn’t leave without trying the longer Cleobella in a softer color palate. Lots of choices out there if you are looking for a spring/summer dress refresh.

Shopping Tips

Did you know that you can “follow” shops on Amazon? If you look under the product name, you can find a link to the brand’s “store” (first pic below). Click that link to see all of their products, and (in the upper left) click the button to follow them (second pic below). When you follow them, you’ll get email alerts, including notifications when they add new products. It’s a great way to find new things from your favorite brands. Happy Shopping!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : I started looking for something to wear to my daughter’s graduation in May (yes, planning WAY ahead because dress shopping is just that HARD!). I ordered this Vince Camuto dress from Bloomingdales. The fabric is very light for summer, the v-neck isn’t too low and the length is good for me. It’s perfect to sit outside on a warm May morning. So far it’s a win! But the sizing runs a little big so I am currently waiting for a smaller size before I commit to it. I think it’ll look cute with my favorite sandals, too; and maybe this bracelet stack (maybe a few orange and a few white ones). I’ll take a pic when I get the sizing right.

MEGAN : My uniform this week has been what I call the “column of color”. Dark jeans (similar), similar color tee shirt, a sweater (either the long Jcrew coatigan or a regular cardigan) and slip on sneakers. I find it easier to stick to variations of a uniform, some pieces change based on weather or commitments, but in general you can do anything in this ‘fit.

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

A peek along our walk…sun shining, flowers blooming, perfect morning!

We’re keeping it among friends, and this week our friend Tammy joined the “Walk and Talk.” Tammy has a few recommendations for workout wear that she loves, and you will, too!

  • For your walks, try the Rainier Unbrushed 7/8 Tight and the Ultimate Stash Textured 7/8 Tight, both by Athleta. These are my go-to leggings and I absolutely love them, especially for the chilly early spring mornings.
  • Today I wore this hoodie sweatshirt from Athleta; it’s super soft and currently on sale! I layered it under a lightweight half-zip pullover from Lululemon.
  • And, if you’re a pickleball player, try this skort: Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt (Long) by Lululemon. Buy now because they sell out fast! I am 5’7″ and as a 50something, I prefer the longer length skirt (it is 14″ in the front and 15″ in the back) which provides a little extra coverage and is perfect if you need to run errands after playing. I also love the no slip shorts underneath with side pockets.

Walking is always so much better when you go with a friend! We hope you’ll share our blog with your walking bestie. And let us know in the comments what you’re watching, wearing, eating, planning or shopping for.
