Welcome to our weekly “walk and talk,” where we bring our weekly walks to you. Our walks are a time to catch up on family life, share online shopping hits and misses, exchange recipes, discuss our newest Netflix binge — all the stuff that friends share with each other. WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : I added Shining Girls (Apple TV) to my iPad for a recent trip. If you’re looking for a crime-thriller (with a twist), check it out. It starts off slow, but hang in there because I promise it gets much better! It stars Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men, Handmaids’s Tale) who delivers another fantastic performance.

MEGAN : I caved and watched a Christmas movie before Thanksgiving. Falling for Christmas (Netflix) with Lindsay Lohan. It was cute in a christmasy-rom-com kind of way. Totally predictable but gets you in the holiday spirit. Will this be the comeback Lindsay has been looking for? Who knows. Bonus: Jack Wagner plays the dad (where are my 80’s General Hospital fans?).

A HEAD START ON THE HOLIDAYS

TAKE A CHRISTMAS BREAK THIS WEEK!

Next week is Thanksgiving, so we hope you’ll take a break from Christmas preparations to plan for and enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family. Enjoy, friends!

SAVE VS. SPLURGE

MEGAN : One of these is arriving at my house as we speak. Save vs. Splurge

3 UNDER $30

CHRISTA : Target for the win with family slippers. These 3 under $30 are super cute! And they’re only $20 each! The hardest part is choosing a pair! If you’re a family that does annual Christmas pj’s, these would be a super cute addition.

WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO

CHRISTA : Another great concert with my daughter. We saw Walk the Moon. A Q&A plus three hours of music and energy! And here’s more on Spotify.

WHAT WE’RE READING

MEGAN : This week I read (listened to, actually) — Woman On Fire by Lisa Barr. A solid art history romance/ mystery with ties to WWII. Good characters, lots of plot and sub plot twists and turns and in the end it was all tied up and resolved with a bow.

SOMETHING JUST FOR FUN

CHRISTA : It’s A Very Kitty Cocktail Party (Hulu)! Kinda like the Puppy Bowl, but fancier…with Christmas sweaters and holiday decorations! (Pro tip: It’s only 20 minutes long, but trust me that the trailer is probably enough cuteness.) And cats go limp when you dress them up, so there’s not a lot of action in this one!

WHAT WE’RE SHOPPING FOR

MEGAN : I’m shopping for cabinet hardware. We are having a debate at my house, do you put nobs on doors and pulls on drawers? Or can one put pulls on doors too? Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are. I’m looking at you my design savvy friends.

FRIENDS SHARE THE GOOD STUFF

Have something you love or can’t live without? Did you find a great deal? Well, do tell! Share with us and we’ll pass it along…because friends share the good stuff!

MEGAN’S KITCHEN UPDATE

We had a few setbacks this week. Delays on the quartz fabrication and my cooktop that was supposed to be here before Halloween is now scheduled to ship 1/9/23. Yup, next year. I’m choosing to focus on the positive; the ceiling has paint and I’m getting the cabinet hardware ready. Let’s go! My family is getting hungry.

HOLIDAY PARTY STYLE

CHRISTA : Basic black (no surprise!), but with lots of sparkle and shine this holiday season! This outfit not only works for holiday parties, but is perfect for ringing in the new year! Most of us already have the black pants in our closet which makes shopping that much easier. You could also pair this top with black velvet pants, wide leg black trousers or black jeans depending on your event. Pro tip: If you don’t have black pants, we shared two in a recent walk and talk that we think you’ll love!

MEGAN : This holiday coat jumped in my cart because it can be dressed up or down. I followed Christa’s all black theme for my dressy cocktail look and then made it more casual with jeans and boots. If I buy a piece that is specific to a season or holiday I like to know that I can wear it a few different ways. I also like to not pay $$$$$. This coat from Old Navy (I was influenced by many influencers) fits the bill.

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

Today we walked through the Luckett’s Holiday House. So many beautiful decorations. It certainly puts you in the Christmas spirit…and in the mood to start decorating!

We just made the call to skip knobs and go all pulls in our (someday—once the Thompson’s is done) kitchen. Medium for small cabinets large for everything else.
