WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

It’s rare that we’re both watching the same thing…so Virgin River must be good!

CHRISTA : If a Hallmark movie were a TV series, then it would be Virgin River on Netflix. It’s a comforting, slower paced, small town drama, with a close community of characters who are always keeping an eye on each other. OK, let’s be honest, it’s probably more like a modern soap opera – with all the cheesiness included! But, heck, some days that escape is just what you need when you curl up to watch TV. You’ll recognize the two main characters from Grey’s Anatomy and This is Us. The shorter episodes make it an easy binge – get started now so you’re ready for season 5. Here’s the Season 1 trailer.

MEGAN : I finished season 4 of Virgin River (Netflix) this weekend. This show is so easy to watch, definitely a chick flick. It’s a romance with just enough drama and twist and turns in the plot to keep me pushing the “next episode” button. If you haven’t binged this show, add it to your list. Season 5 is coming…

FRIENDS SHARE THE GOOD STUFF

MEGAN: Our girl on the shore, Georgi, is back with another must have. After the hot Archie’s flip flop pick, we are all ears when Georgi shouts out to us.

LoopyCases. Have you tried them? Are you a pop socket fan? The LoopyCases makes it so much easier to balance and hold your phone, reducing the risk of dropping your phone and breaking the screen. It’s also just a million times more functional. Give them a try.

Have something you love or can’t live without? Did you find a great deal? Well, do tell! Share with us and we’ll pass it along…because friends share the good stuff!

LOOK WHAT’S TRENDING

CHRISTA : Start shopping now, ladies, for your flare jeans for fall! They’re everywhere! While skinnies and straight still work in my world, I’m adding a pair of bootcut or flare to keep my denim current, and these cute jeans by KUT from the KLOTH caught my eye at Evereve. To style your wide leg jeans, it may take some trial and error to find the right look for your body type. With the added volume on the bottom, you’ll want to keep the top more fitted for balance. For fall, try a cute puff sleeve t-shirt (as long as it’s fitted) and add in a pair of block heel sandals or mules to really elongate your legs – it’s the perfect on-trend outfit!

If you’re still not sure if this trend is right for you, try the Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans (or here for a lighter wash) from the Nordstrom. They’re not quite as wide making them a little easier to style. And trust us, they’ll give you legs for miles! (Unfortunately since the NSale, the Wit & Wisdom are running low on stock in many sizes right now, but they’re a Nordstrom exclusive brand so check back for restocks.) And, in the meantime, these Democracy jeans on Amazon are available in several washes. They’re nearly identical to the Wit & Wisdom (same manufacturer makes both), with the same slimming Ab-Solution technology. Give them a try! Bonus: they also come in short length for petite girls and long for taller girls.

MEGAN : I can’t wait to bust out my new itty bitty boot cut jeans! Here are my styling ideas for early fall. Wedge booties for comfort and height (my jeans are ALWAYS too long). For a dressier look these block heel slides feel elegant yet comfortable. I love a cotton poplin top and 3/4 sleeves seal the deal. I would tuck this in to complete the hourglass look that boot cut jeans support. And the statement necklace; was there ever a doubt??

REPEAT FROM AMAZON

Products so good we bought them again (and again)….#friendssharethegoodstuff.

CHRISTA :

  • I started using this gentle facial cleanser when my usual cleanser from Colleen Rothschild went out of stock – I liked it so much, I haven’t switched back!
  • This moisturizer is always a fav – doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily during the day.
  • Started using these twice a week for dark spots – I put them on overnight on problem areas and I’m seeing some improvement after just a few weeks.

WHAT MEGAN’S READING

MEGAN : Last week I read Anna: The Biography by Amy Odell. It was the perfect vacation read, easy to pick up and put down at random intervals. Learning about Anna’s childhood and family life was eye opening. Her quirky personality and lots of anecdotes color the book with a charm that is oddly fulfilling. I finished the book wondering *if* I could work for her. If you are interested in the fashion world or print media/publishing I would recommend this book. Spoiler Alert: The Devil Wears Prada IS based on Anna Wintour!

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

Did you know…walking is one of the best ways to work through menopause symptoms? Check out this article on the 50 benefits of walking during menopause…yes, 50 benefits! And walking 21 minutes a day reduces your risk of heart disease by 30%. If you’re experiencing hot flashes or brain fog or joint pain or belly bloat or weight gain or low mood or trouble sleeping, a daily walk may be just what you need! It’s not only good for your physical health, but if you bring a friend along, it’s like a little extra therapy, too! (We’re not medical professionals, so we recommend you speak with your doctor about your symptoms.)

CHRISTA : If you’re having trouble getting motivated, I found this online walking program for women that might be the answer. Join for free and receive their 30 day challenge. It includes two fitness levels (gentle walking and fitness walking), and an online FB group for motivation and inspiration. Going for a walk is one of the simplest ways to feel better mentally and physically – try it for 30 days and see how you feel.

Here’s a peek from this week’s walk…

Schultz shoes for the European vacation win!
I bought the Schultz shoes with the clear straps mentioned on the blog in the Spring. They were perfect for France. We walked everywhere. The heal was just the right size to walk 20 min up & down steep hills in the south of France to dinner, walk tons of stairs, walk on cobblestone , and wear on the Paris metro. My feet never hurt. Because they are clear I could wear them with everything . Big win for my trip !
