What We’re Watching This Week

MEGAN : Speaking of Christmas movies…I’m sharing three of my favorite holiday movies every Friday in December. Each of these movies is a crowd pleaser for women over 50, watch while you wrap or snuggle up on the couch.

  • Starting out with Feast of the Seven Fishes (Prime) – excellent gateway Christmas movie to get your husband on board.
  • Jingle Bell Heist (Netflix), a holiday rom-com, the unlikely couple attempts to rob a department store in London.
  • A Merry Little Ex-mas (Netflix), this couple just wants a divorce for Christmas — or do they? Oliver Hudson stars, enough said. This one is the most “Hallmark-y”.

CHRISTA : Late to the party on A Man on the Inside (Netflix), but I’m so glad I finally started it. The series is charming, heartfelt, and wonderfully acted—Ted Danson shines. I enjoyed it so much I watched the entire first season on a flight to Oklahoma.

What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50

CHRISTA : Leopard slip skirt for the holiday win! There are so many ways to wear this. Dress it up with a sparkly sweater or cashmere tee. Keep it casual with a sweatshirt and white sneakers. I paired mine with cream, but red, kelly green or black are all great leopard color combos. No matter how you style it, it’s festive, fun, and flirty. Plus, because it’s totally seasonless, it’s a great budget-friendly addition to your closet that you will wear year-round.

Style tip: My pieces are old/sold out, so I’ve linked complete looks from Quince and Ann Taylor to create your own look.

MEGAN : Leopard is in the air this holiday season. I went to the mall for lunch with a friend and was inspired by the decorations. My leopard jeans and sweater are from last year (still going strong!) but the shoes (oh hey Target) are the star of this look. So comfortable, I could walk miles in them. Linking this years version of the jeans and sweater vest.

Fit tip: Shoes fit true to size. They have memory foam in them but I added heel cups because I live in fear of Plantar Fasciitis.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing

MEGAN : My friend, Lynne had on the most beautiful suede boots the other day. She said they are Steve Madden and under $200. A great price for real suede. They click all the boxes – low heel 1.25″, tall-ish shaft 6.25″ and the colors are amazing. I ordered the black leather to go with all of my black pants holiday outfits.

CHRISTA : Booties are trending here on the blog this week! Need a pair that can dress up an outfit but don’t want to overspend for something you’ll wear occasionally? Grab these Amazon cuties for only $60. They’re perfect for all your flare and wide leg trousers and denim this winter.

I bought them for my daughter (she passed…her loss), but I loved them! They’re shockingly comfy and only have a 2″ heel. They look way pricier than $60, and no one will ever guess they’re not real leather. Four great colors, zero guilt.

What We’re Reading in December

Heart the Lover December book

MEGAN : So my friend sent me the Washington Post’s list of top 25 books in 2025 and I was *gasp* horrified at how few I had read. Heart the Lover is on the list and I quickly downloaded it to add a plus one to the positive column. You guys, l loved Writers & Lovers (also by Lily King) but this book is even better. A coming of age story about love, real life, loss, the fragility of relationships. The writing is beautiful but the story is lovely, in a kind of painful – growing up way. Would love to discuss with anyone that’s also read it.

CHRISTA : In my Kindle queue…Ten Thousand Light Years from Okay by Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman. From the publisher: What if what you wrote came true? In Ten Thousand Light Years from Okay, authors Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman imagine what might happen if a novelist’s writing seemed to predict her life—including main character Thea Packer’s biggest heartbreak. But could it also mean she could write her own happy ending? My heart was immediately ripped open alongside Thea as she reckons with this impossibility, following the loss of her husband and raising their daughter as a single parent. This is a story of love, grief, moving forward, and trusting that you deserve every happiness in this life.
