Walk and Talk | 11.22.2024

Welcome to the Walk and Talk! Each week, we chat about our favorite shows and books, recent shopping finds (including Amazon gems), and all the fun stuff friends love to share. We’re excited to share it with you! #friendssharethegoodstuff

As we head into Thanksgiving week, the theme of gratitude becomes especially relevant. It’s a time to reflect on the goodness in our lives and the people who enrich them. Gratitude doesn’t have to come with a price tag—it’s the small, meaningful acts of kindness that often make the biggest impact. Reach out to a friend, connect, share, and tell them how much they mean to you. Take a moment to call your adult child just to check in and let them know that you are proud of their successful adulting. Gratitude is about being present, listening with care, and finding ways to let others know they are valued. Whether through thoughtful words, shared moments, or acts of kindness, showing gratitude is an act of love that strengthens relationships and lifts spirits, especially during this season of thanks.

Our favorite way to show gratitude is by reaching out to a friend and inviting them to go for a walk and talk. Sometimes just being asked is all the gift a friend needs.

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

  • A season one show to binge now…season two coming in January!
  • Who are the Instigators?
  • Four versatile wardrobe pieces you’ll love
  • Travel OOTD
  • Gift certificates from Santa
  • Advent Calendar for your dog
  • Christa’s go-to shade of lipstick
  • A new book to read
  • Holiday decorating must-haves to make the job easier
  • Our random stuff we love is back in the walk and talk!

Don’t miss any of the good stuff we’re sharing. Check out last week’s Walk and Talk:

What’s On the Blog

This week’s post is 10 things we own and love. Because we own them AND we love them, we know they’ll make great gifts for the special people on your holiday list. Happy shopping!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : The Instigators on AppleTV is the perfect family movie for Thanksgiving break. The teens will like it and so will you. A funny(ish) thriller starring Matt Damon and Casey Afflek, set in Boston (of course), tracks these two knuckleheads on a robbery gone bad that leads them all over the city but finds them learning the most about themselves.

CHRISTA : The Night Agent (Season 2 on Netflix), is premiering January 23. I’m giving you plenty of time to catch up on the first season if you haven’t watched yet! This would be a great binge over the long Thanksgiving weekend or Christmas break. The Night Agent is about FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who takes a call on the Night Watch that throws him into a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of the government. Lots of action and intrigue.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Today, I’m highlighting four versatile wardrobe staples that pair perfectly with just about everything you already own. I wasn’t sure I could pull off a denim midi skirt, but stepping out of my comfort zone was so worth it! This Pistola denim skirt from Evereve is incredible—true to size and features a raw hem you can easily shorten. Pistola is a new discovery for me, and I can’t wait to try more from their collection. The cashmere sweater from Bloomingdale’s (on sale!) is unbelievably soft and feather-light—perfect for layering. Bloomingdale’s is my go-to for cashmere, and this piece doesn’t disappoint. I’ve accessorized with a $24 necklace stack from Avara and paired everything with Dolce Vita boots (I sized up for the perfect fit). If your wardrobe needs a boot refresh, these are a must-have—trust me, compliments will follow!

MEGAN : I call this the post-pandemic business suit. Looks like a suit but feels like sweats. I wear this jersey blazer when I’m traveling, it has a zip in “hoodie” dicky. (<— are we still calling them dickies?) And these side stripe tech pants are super comfy, no dry cleaning required. This is the perfect “look polished/feel casual” travel outfit.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : This might be the most “tell me you’re an empty nester without telling me you’re an empty nester” of all time. I got Miss Lexie the Bark Box advent calendar and I’m not sure who’s more excited.

CHRISTA : These Santa certificates are the perfect way to gift an experience like a trip or concert—or to give money (and Venmo it later!). I’ve also linked a few other ideas below that are perfect for gift cards, travel gifts, or any present that doesn’t fit in a box.

What’s New (and under $100) from Nordstrom

CHRISTA : My favorite, most worn lipstick by IT Cosmetics (in “Like a Dream”) has been discontinued. But, happy day, I found the same shade in their lip gloss at Nordstrom, $28. Great little stocking stuffer!

MEGAN : There is nothing more nostalgic during the holidays than an advent calendar. Add beauty products to that equation and it’s a match made in heaven. Nordstrom has some really amazing beauty advent calendars under $100 right now. Order now and they will be here just in time. Pro tip: We love to use the smaller size products that come in these kits in our our travel make up bags. Never get stuck at an AirBNB with out body wash!

What’s in Our Amazon Order History

CHRISTA : Make your holiday decorating easy with the right decorating supplies. Here are links to my favorites to hang almost anything. I like to keep a plastic box filled with an assortment of all of these so I’m ready to decorate every year.

MEGAN : My Amazon history has been a little boring this week. However, I did download this book to listen to on my daily walk and talk listen. The Wedding People by Alison Espach. I’m almost finished and I’m really enjoying it. In the middle, I found one of the characters pretty insufferable but now I see why. (NO SPOILERS!) The perfect book to listen to while you cook, wrap gifts or drive over the river and through the woods.

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : In the spirit of gratitude, I’m sharing a photo of my dog group from my camera roll. For almost 14 years we’ve met M-F at 7 a.m. – rain, snow, sun, wind. A little walk and talk every morning is good for the human soul and the dog.

CHRISTA : Here’s a little holiday hack you might not know: what’s the secret to hanging something on your cabinet door? An upside-down Command hook on the back! Just loop your ribbon under the hook, and voilà—holiday magic made easy. Seriously, it’s as simple as it gets!

This week you’re shopping for dresses and garland! How cute are these two? Love the modern take on holiday colors and the best part is they can be worn dressy or casual. Glad to see everyone is stocking up on pre-lit garland, too. You’ll be so happy in two weeks when you set up your holiday decorations.
