Welcome to the Walk and Talk! Each week, we chat about our favorite shows and books, recent shopping finds (including Amazon gems), and all the fun stuff friends love to share. We’re excited to share it with you! #friendssharethegoodstuff
As we walk and talk our way into November we are reminded that cold and flu season is upon us. Now is the time to clean out that medicine cabinet, especially before the kids come home with the college-ick.
- Start by checking the expiration dates on over-the-counter medications, such as pain relievers, cough syrup, and fever reducers, as well as any prescriptions you may have on hand.
- Discard anything that has expired.
- Replenish your stock of essentials like tissues, throat lozenges and thermometer. You might also add items like vitamin C and hand sanitizers.
- Staying organized and well-stocked now can save you time and stress later when you’re not feeling your best. We shared more ideas about restocking and organizing the medicine cabinet here.
Remember the best way to stay healthy; wash your hands, get 7-8 hours of sleep, and walk and talk with a friend.

What’s On the Blog
We’re gearing up for entertaining season. Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving or having another couple over for dinner – we’ve got the 10 essentials that will help you have a stress free event.
The first round of gift guides are on the blog. Consider this your sign to get an early start on your holiday shopping!
What We’re Watching
MEGAN : My husband had a knee replacement last week, and he’s been watching Better Call Saul on Netflix. It’s the perfect binge-able show, lots of seasons. Better Call Saul follows Jimmy before his Breaking Bad/Walter White days. An American drama, but it’s also really funny. The camera work is amazing.
CHRISTA : I added The Diplomat, season 2 (Netflix), to my iPad for my trip to see my son in Oklahoma City. I loved Keri Russell in The Americans, and she is just as good in this one, as the ambassador to the United Kingdom. If you haven’t watched this one yet, you have a lot to catch up on this weekend! Read more about Keri Russell in Keri Russell—Like the Rest of Us—Is Addicted to the Drama of The Diplomat, from Harper’s Bazaar. If you need a refresher, here is a recap of season one.
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : My Thanksgiving look. This dress sold out in a day…but you’re in luck because it looks like it’s restocked now (also in blue, too)! This dress is a fall go-to…a lightweight corduroy fabric, a figure flattering cinched waist. Avara thought of all the details, with the covered buttons and extra snap at the waistline. I’ve also linked several other similar length/color dresses for you to try in case this sells out again.
And the boots…oh, these boots. I love them (that’s why they were a best of for October!). Grab yourself a pair to update your boot collection. And just wait for all the compliments!

MEGAN : I shared this OOTD inspo photo from the Wyse catalog a few weeks ago. Here’s my take on the outfit. After MUCH RESEARCH I ordered the vest from Poshmark (new with tags). The whole outfit is super comfortable. The vegan black leather pants are from Gap (last year), still fully stocked. I’m loving the Gola sneakers too. Perfect outfit for when you feel like wearing jeans, but want to be a little fancy.

What We’re Shopping For
MEGAN : Varley is my new favorite athleisure brand. The fabric is like butter and imo holds up/washes better than the Spanx AirEssentials. These are a few of my favorites from their latest drop.
CHRISTA : You have to check out Target’s holiday decor this year! My daughter and I went shopping last weekend, and came home with a cart full of festive finds! Everything here is $20 or less, except for the two oversized throw pillows, which were only $30 each. I’ll be using the little jingle bells (set of 4 for $5) as gift tie-ons. The ceramic houses ($10 and $15 each) and gold reindeer ($15 each) will add a perfect holiday touch to our living room bookshelves. And the “Forest Fir” scented candles make lovely hostess gifts!
Remember, use our links below to shop on-line, and then just do a drive-up order pick up. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get these holiday goodies for yourself!
What’s New (and under $100) from Nordstrom
CHRISTA : These smaller pillows, all by Melange Collection, are so adorable for the holidays and under $40 each. Perfect for a smaller accent chair or add to a collection of larger pillows on the guest bed. They’d also be a wonderful hostess gift!
MEGAN : I love Bombas and I love slippers, so could this be a match made in heaven? Adding to my Christmas list. They look like the perfect “house shoe” for after a walk and talk with a friend.
What’s in Our Amazon Order History
CHRISTA : This zip up hoodie goes beyond basic with the ribbed detail fabric. Soft fabric, under $30, covers your bum in leggings, it’s a great piece to have for walk and talks, errands, travel, and days you want to be casual at home. Comes in 15 colors. Runs TTS. I ordered a size L (I’m an 8-10) and it’s a generous oversized fit perfect with leggings.
MEGAN : My husband just had his second knee replacement and these ice packs are the hero of his recovery. These are not just for post surgery, they are for bruises, sprains, achy backs from leaf raking, too much walk and talking – pretty much any soreness you might have. They stay cold and they mold around your limb. I’ve linked the big one because it’s the best. Order now and throw in your freezer, your future injured self thanks you.
What’s Happening “Behind the Scenes”
MEGAN : It’s been a hectic week around here. Sharing a moment of calm I captured on my phone. No matter what type of day, week, month, year you are having, remember the sun will rise again tomorrow.
CHRISTA : Sharing a throwback video that popped up on my phone! For the holidays, I set up several Christmas trees, but the one in our basement home theater is hands-down my favorite. It was so easy to put together, too! I started by weaving some “film strip” ribbon through the tree. I used popcorn boxes and old holiday movie DVD cases as the main decorations–I attached them by bending the branches of the tree and inserting them into the box or back size of the DVD case under the plastic. Easy peasy! (You could also use pipe cleaners threaded through the back of the boxes/cases. And you could do this with empty boxes of movie theater candy.) Finally, I added some movie-themed ornaments and sometimes include red Christmas ball ornaments for filler. Voilà! It’s such a fun setup to recreate every year!
