Walk and Talk | 11.01.2024

Welcome to the Walk and Talk! Each week, we walk and talk about our favorite shows and books, recent shopping finds (including Amazon gems), and all the fun stuff friends love to share. We’re excited to share it with you! #friendssharethegoodstuff

WALK & TALK…AND GET YOUR ASS TO THE POLLS TO VOTE!

Recently, we shared our checklist of holiday tasks to help you get organized this season. But don’t forget to prioritize a little self-care, too, even when you’re busy. This time of year can be both joyful and stressful, so carve out moments just for you. Whether it’s sticking to your exercise routine, enjoying a quiet cup of tea with a favorite book, or taking leisurely walks (which you know we 1000% recommend!), these small acts can make a big difference.

Remember, self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a way to replenish your energy and enhance your well-being, allowing you to fully engage in the festivities and cherish time with loved ones. Embrace this holiday season as an opportunity to nurture yourself and set the tone for a fulfilling year ahead.

And call a friend for a walk and talk…she might need your nudge for a little self-care, too.

p.s. In case you didn’t see the news, the CDC now recommends getting a pneumonia vaccine at age 50, instead of 65, due to an increase in respiratory infections. Do a little self-care by prioritizing your healthcare.

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

  • Our November book recs
  • Thoughts on Martha Stewart’s new Netflix documentary
  • Our favorite lawyer is back!
  • Amazon supplies for holiday decorations
  • Seeing red (and green)–dresses, and skirts, and pajamas, and ribbon…
  • Pink and blue for the holidays
  • A view of DC you don’t often see
  • The cutest furry trick or treater
  • Call a friend and make a plan to VOTE together!

Don’t miss any of the good stuff we’re sharing. Check out last week’s Walk and Talk:

What’s On the Blog

They’re here! Our Gift Guides for Her and Gift Guides for Him! Shop for all the adults on your list – parents, in-laws, adult children…we’ve got something everyone will love! Plus, we have everything you need to get organized for gift wrapping.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : We just watched Martha on Netflix. Fascinating and inspiring – I do think Martha Stewart is the OG influencer, especially for my Gen X people. This documentary gives you a real look at who Martha is and how and why she created a billion dollar business around “living”. The news is saying she does not like or agree with the second half of the movie, tbh she does seem a little sad. Good watch, whether you are a Martha Stewart fan or not, she is an incredible business woman.

CHRISTA : The Lincoln Lawyer is back on Netflix with Season 3, and all episodes are available. More drama, more of Lorna’s outfits, and more Mickey Haller! If you haven’t seen The Lincoln Lawyer, you’re in for a treat with three seasons to binge. If you’re a fan, tell us how long it took you to binge this whole season?!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : One of my top four must-have sweaters from our recent Sweater Weather post is this oversized style from Free People (color Olive Stone). Everyone needs a cozy, oversized sweater for cold days! I actually sized down, and it’s still wonderfully roomy. Plus, this sweater has the perfect weight—it’s not too heavy or bulky, and it feels soft against the skin. To balance the bulk, I recommend pairing it with slim-fit jeans (or some chic faux leather leggings) and your favorite booties. I’ve linked a great pair of leggings from CRZ Yoga below that you’ll adore. Denim by Kut from the Kloth; Chelsea boots by Dolce Vita.

MEGAN : In celebration of fall and the empty nest, my husband and I went on a date night with three other couples. This is what I wore and it might be my new fall uniform. Bonus points, each item is UNDER $50.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : I’ve been searching high and low for blue velvet jeans and I finally found them. After EXTENSIVE research, Gap Factory was the ONLY place that had five pocket velvet jeans in navy blue. If you are looking for an alternative to red and green for the holidays, check out this on trend pink fair isle sweater from Lands End. Pairs perfectly with the blue velvet jeans. Sweater and velvet jeans currently on sale!

CHRISTA : I’m starting my hunt for a holiday party dress, and found some great options–red and green, of course! Here are some looks from my favorite retailers. Do you have a favorite?

What’s in Our Amazon Order History

CHRISTA : I recently ordered lots of red, green and white ribbon to stock up for the holidays! This ribbon is the best for gifts and makes the prettiest bows.

MEGAN : I’m ordering hooks to hold my holiday decor on my mantle and other places. I used similar ones last year and I love that they are clear. These hold up to 40 lbs — fingers crossed!

What’s New (and under $100) from Nordstrom

CHRISTA : My FAVORITE pajamas are now available in holiday colors. Love the red and green; but they also have a festive red and white stripe and a pretty light blue toile winter scene! Check them out, and grab a pair for you and a pair for someone special this holiday season. Makes a great gift! If you get too hot when you sleep, then you’ll love this lightweight fabric. (Also available in plus size.)

MEGAN : The new Adidas SL 72 have stolen my heart. They are SO COMFORTABLE on my tired, sore feet. I also own Sambas and Gizelles and these are by FAR the most comfortable pair of Adidas I own. Bonus points for being cute and looking great with various length jeans (crop, straight, full length). I have the red combo but this new pair in blue and pink have caught my eye.

What We’re Reading in November

CHRISTA : Next up in my Kindle: A Very Bad Thing by J.T. Ellison. It’s currently Amazon’s #1 suspense thriller, so I can’t wait to dive in! From the publisher: “A Very Bad Thing is a truly thrilling and intricate novel about identity, family, and what happens when long buried secrets are finally revealed.”

MEGAN : Currently listening to Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy by Elizabeth Beller. I’ve always been fascinated by “American Royalty” aka the Kennedys and this book deep dives into Carolyn’s abbreviated life before JFK Jr., their courtship/marriage and through her death. I love a good biography and this one marries lots of my favorite things: fashion, Kennedys and the 90s.

What’s Happening “Behind the Scenes” (Our Camera Rolls)

MEGAN : No more trick or treaters in your house? No problem, dress up the dog! Poor Miss Lexie, she’s a good sport – lots of treats were involved in this photo shoot.

CHRISTA : Hello, DC! I never get tired of this view on the descent into the Reagan airport! This is also a good time to throw in a little reminder to get out and vote next week.

You are loving the Vince Camuto sweater! She comes in lots of colors and is the perfect fall layer. We love it with this cute Tory Burch crossbody (the strap is amazing!). The Zella In Flight dress is still popular (and on sale!). Your future self will thank you when the temps go back up and you find this cutie hiding in your closet.
