Walk and Talk with Us This Week
Fall is in the air…so naturally we’re talking about the upcoming holiday season! A girl’s gotta stay one step ahead, right? It isn’t too early to get organized and start planning gifts, outfits and get togethers. We have lots of blog posts planned to help you with these tasks. In the meantime, check out our downloadable checklist filled with some easy tasks you can check off now, giving you plenty of time in December to enjoy everything that makes the season so special for you! Hope it comes in handy!
And a walk with a friend is always a great place to begin your planning. Share gift ideas for your adult children (who are incredibly hard to buy for!), pick a date to co-host a party, and share what’s on your own wish lists!
In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…
- A fun new series from ABC
- The Halloween binge you didn’t know you needed
- Setting a red and green holiday table
- Styling leopard pants for fall
- Finding a new lipstick
- Start your holiday planning with our checklist

ICYMI…What’s On the Blog
Your mother-in-law is coming, is your guest room ready? Don’t worry we’ve got a few tips and tricks to get you ready before the holidays (and your in-laws) are here.
It’s officially sweater season in the mid-Atlantic. We each rounded up our four must have sweaters to get through the season. Check out our picks AND how we’d style them in the blog post.
What We’re Watching
MEGAN : In the spirit of Halloween, I watched Mayfair Witches (Prime). Based on the Anne Rice book, this horror series is more thriller than horror, from a girl that does NOT like horror movies. It is about a woman that finds out she comes from a long line of witches (in New Orleans, of course!). Season two coming in 2025 and I’ve already set an alert on my phone. Grab a bag of candy corn and settle in for the show.
CHRISTA : High Potential (ABC) might come off as a bit absurd at times, but Kaitlin Olsen is such a joy to watch that I don’t mind! She plays Morgan, the night-shift cleaning lady at a police station. She has a high IQ, and spots details and evidence detectives overlook. (I know, I did say a little absurd!) Naturally, they bring her on as a consultant for the department. It may not be the most realistic premise, but sometimes TV just needs to embrace a little ridiculousness for the sake of fun and easy entertainment!
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : It’s booties and sweater season! This is my fall/winter uniform. The sweater is by Vince Camuto; the brown only has a few sizes left, but it comes in 32 other colors, too!! I also linked some other Vince Camuto sweaters that are similar – and ALL ON SALE, about $50. It’s a great time to update a few to your sweaters! Fit tip: it runs true to size; mine is a little oversized because I sized up.

MEGAN : OOTD for a shopping day in Georgetown. It’s hard to get dressed when the calendar says mid October but Mother Nature turns the thermostat to 81. My leopard jeans are the star of this look. Currently my most comfortable pants/jeans and you can wear them a million different way. Hot Fit Tip: They come in short, regular and long. I’m 5’1 in the short and I still had to get them hemmed. Leopard is huge this fall, these are selling out quickly.

What We’re Shopping For
MEGAN : Found a little outfit inspo in the new WYSE London catalog. I have similar pieces to recreate this look except the faux shearling vest. After a quick google search here’s what I found. Photo credit: WYSE London October catalog.
CHRISTA : Anthropologie has the cutest holiday collection this year! My cart is full of decor and gift ideas! Aren’t these scalloped plates adorable? You could add just one or two of these pieces to your existing dinnerware for a festive new look. I’m eyeing up the red scallop small plates to pair with my white dinner plates, and I feel like they could be used year-round, too. And try the gold star ornaments as the perfect tie-on for the napkins; no napkin ring needed, just tie them with a ribbon and add the ornament. Voila!
Something New from Nordstrom (and under $100)
CHRISTA : My favorite lipstick from IT Cosmetics is no longer available, so I have been searching for a new one. I really like this moisturizing lipstick from Bobbi Brown ($33, in Plum/Mid Tone Red Plum color). It lasts all day and feels like a lip balm. If you’re in need of a new makeup product, remember you can order online from Nordstrom and return it if the color isn’t quite right for you. (Same for Sephora.) And don’t forget–makeup makes a great gift or stocking stuffer! Every girl loves to try a new product!
MEGAN : I love a silk scarf AND I love dogs, so this match was made for me. How cute is this scarf? Under $40 makes it the perfect gift for all the dog lovers in your life.
What’s Happening Behind the Scenes
A little peek at what’s happening with us…something recent from our camera rolls!
CHRISTA : Is it an empty nest thing to have a camera roll filled with pet pictures? Or does that make you a crazy cat lady? Asking for a friend.
MEGAN : Getting ready for my “Duke” to come home for fall break. Nothing says I missed you like homemade chocolate chip cookies. My secret recipe is here.
What You Loved This Week
This week you guys are loving shoes and layers! Fit Flop is scoring with these white leather sneakers and Christa’s new favorite ballet flats. We love a pink walking jacket and this one from Zella comes in four great colors. Second week in a row for the Amazon lady jacket! She also comes in a zillion colors, wear as a sweater or as a blazer.
