Walk and Talk with Us This Week

It’s that time of year, fall break. If you are lucky enough to have a kid coming home for a long weekend this fall, here are some tips to make the most of the weekend. Preparing for your child’s visit home from college is an exciting yet bittersweet experience. You’ll want to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes them feel comfortable while also acknowledging the changes (independence!) they’ve undergone.

  • Start by tidying up their room, get all those Amazon returns that you stacked up out of there.
  • Stock up on their favorite snacks or ask if there’s a special meal they’d like you to make.
  • Plan some family activities that cater to them; movie night, shopping, fishing, bike ride, dog walk.
  • They will be tired, don’t be upset if they just want to sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep the entire weekend. Remember, this is a transition for them, too.
  • Some kids are staying out until 2 a.m. now, so remind them what your expectations are.
  • Most importantly, strike a balance between celebrating their independence and spending time together.

Enjoy having your nest full again!

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

  • The show that everyone is talking about
  • An edge of your seat thriller to watch
  • Leopard shoes that take your basics from blah to fab
  • A new pink layer for your fall walks
  • Megan’s shopping list of green cardigans
  • Two layered looks for fall weather
  • Add these (non white) sneakers to you list
  • …and more!

Don’t miss any of the good stuff we’re sharing. You can find last week’s Walk and Talk HERE.

ICYMI…What’s On the Blog

Hi, it’s Christa here! I’m sharing our amazing vacation with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. It was the ultimate empty nest getaway! We explored the Greek islands, indulging in exquisite food, enjoying on-board entertainment, and taking part in daily excursions. Click below to discover more about our week-long experience, including highlights from both on-board and ashore, as well as tips on what to wear when the dress code calls for “yacht sophisticated!”

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Nobody Wants This (Netflix) is what all my friends are talking about. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have raised the rom-com bar with this one. For all the people that got married after their careers were established, this ones for you. And that first kiss… steamy! There are more articles than I can link, just about the that kiss. The world wants more of this.

CHRISTA : Right from the start of Speak No Evil (Prime Video), the tension can be cut with a knife! You know something isn’t quite right with James McAvoy’s character and he keeps you on the edge of your seat with his overly friendly but hiding-a-dark-secret vibe. Thrills, suspense, horror all wrapped up with some amazing performances in this must-see movie.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Fall is in the air, and that calls for layers. This coated denim jacket has the look of leather, but isn’t as heavy. My jacket is old from WHBM, but I’ve linked some others I think you’ll love. Blouse from Ann Taylor, jeans from Kut from the Kloth…two repeat brands in my closet.

MEGAN : Typical fall ootd for me. Jeans and a button up with a layer. Love the pop of leopard that my shoes bring to an otherwise kinda boring outfit.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : I’ve shopping for a green cardigan for fall and winter but that I can also wear into spring. Something bright and cheerful that goes with jeans and tee or button down. Here’s my list.

CHRISTA : Something new arrived this week for my kitties, from Mau. Yes, they love it! Yes, your cat needs one, too! Comes in three different heights, individual baskets can be replaced as needed, and fluffy basket liners are machine washable. It’s a kitty playground in my home office!

Something New from Nordstrom (and under $100)

CHRISTA : I shared this jacket in our “Best of September” email last week. (If you’re not getting our subscriber-only emails, be sure to click here.) I love this jacket as a lighter layer for fall/spring walks. And this NEW color is AMAZING. I am now thinking I might need another. 🙂

MEGAN : New trend alert, COLORFUL SNEAKERS! I picked up a pair of these Gola sneakers in green and they are extremely comfortable. Word on the street is that all the fashionable ladies in Europe are wearing COLORFUL sneakers with EVERYTHING — even skirts. I’m here for this comfort trend.

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes

Something new in the Walk and Talk…sharing recent picturess from our camera rolls, giving a little peek at what’s happening with us!

MEGAN : The beach in the fall just hits different. So peaceful, calm and less crowded. For instant relaxation: drop you shoulders from your ears and take five deep breaths while staring at this photo. Ahhhhh.

CHRISTA : Spent last weekend decorating for fall! Love a cascade of pumpkins down the front stairs! I googled “Georgetown pumpkin stairs” for my inspiration!
