Walk and Talk with Us This Week

There are so many creative ways for women over 50 to ensure they get their daily steps while enjoying the beauty of the fall. But, as you know, we think the best way is a weekly Walk and Talk!

Consider organizing a neighborhood walking group that meets regularly. Just send an email or text to your neighbors—chances are, there are other women nearby eager to join a weekly walking routine. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or making new ones, walking together not only makes the exercise more enjoyable but also fosters a sense of community and accountability.

What are you waiting for? Don’t let this opportunity slip by. Fall is the ideal time to kick off a regular Walk and Talk. The season’s mild weather and beautiful scenery make each walk a refreshing experience. Draft that email or text, grab your walking shoes, and start a tradition that combines fitness, fun, and the joy of friendship. Embrace the season and get moving—your body, mind, and spirit will thank you!

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

  • Time travel hotel in Turkey

ICYMI…What’s On the Blog

Ready to host a crab feast? We’re making it super easy by sharing all our tips and tricks this week on Style Among Friends.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Midnight at the Pera Palace (Netflix) is my current binge. Set in Istanbul, Turkey this historic drama takes you on a wild ride through history. Esra, the main character is an orphaned journalist that is tasked with writing an article about the historic Pera Palace Hotel in Istanbul. The magical hotel transports Esra through time where she learns how her actions can effect the future of modern day Turkey. Two seasons, great story lines and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

CHRISTA : Is it FINALLY happening? Yes! Severance (Season 2) premieres January 17! Plenty of time to watch season one if you haven’t (or if you need a refresher–it’s been a while!). Don’t miss this show!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : If you missed out on the Zella dress this summer, it’s not too late—it’s now 40% off in three colors bringing it down to just $41! This dress was a favorite of mine for hot days, vacations, and hanging out poolside. It’s moisture-wicking and has an adjustable elastic waist for a flattering fit. I recommend sizing up if you need more room in the top.

MEGAN : A last minute dinner invitation made me VERY glad I had this leopard cutie hanging in my closet. Perfect fall transition dress, wear it just like this now. Add a tissue turtleneck (under) or cashmere cardigan and boots for when the temps drop.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : Is a (faux) leather skirt the new slip skirt? Ive been seeing the cutest a-line leather skirt looks all over the interwebs. It’s got me googling. (Photo from Pinterest)

CHRISTA : The star of this outfit is the Seasoft hoodie from Athleta. Unbelievably soft and cozy. Love the feel of this fabric. Check out the whole Seasoft collection. This entire outfit is what you’ll find me wearing most mornings.

And let’s not overlook the sneakers. They’re easy-to-wear slip-on sneakers from Kizik, my new must-haves for dog walks and errands (I don’t find them supportive enough for a 3 mile walk). My husband loves this sneaker brand for himself–easy to slip on and off, no laces to tie. Now I know why he has about 10 pair!

Something New from Nordstrom (and under $100)

CHRISTA : Do you have a pair of black pants that you love? Get some now before the whirlwind of ornament exchanges, cocktail parties, favorite things gatherings, and family dinners kicks off. A great pair of black pants, like these by Halogen with the added side slit detail, can be the cornerstone of your holiday wardrobe, helping you look polished and prepared for all the upcoming events.

MEGAN : Just ordered this lipstick by Queen Musia in color Becky Sharp. It’s a neutral pinky/brown. TBH I ordered it because I’m obsessed with the packaging. The lipstick is matte and pretty awesome too.

What We’re Reading in October

CHRISTA : Next up in my Kindle queue…The House of Lost Secrets by Anstey Harris. From the publisher: “Bestselling author Anstey Harris’s new novel poses a very difficult question: How well do you really know your best friend?…As the tangled webs of friendship slowly unravel, friendship—the secrets, the stories, and the memories that were shared—this beautifully depicted novel offers up the opportunity to heal old wounds and create new beginnings. The House of Lost Secrets is a novel that has stayed with me long after finishing it.”

MEGAN : Reading The God of the Woods by Liz Moore for my book club this month. This book has been on a lot of lists so I’m super excited to dig in and read it. Looking forward to a weekend with my coffee, reading glasses and book, snuggled up on the couch.

What We Found on Amazon

CHRISTA : Still a favorite a year later and holding up well — money well spent! These Dr. Scholl’s ankle booties are comfortable to wear all day and stylish with the pointed toe. Pair them with all your denim this fall. And, best part, only about $50! Also comes in black.

MEGAN : I’m went to the Oceans Calling Music Festival last weekend and needed a large clear bag to haul the essentials, you know, Mary Poppins style. Amazon came through with the perfect bag that meets the maximum dimension requirements. My water bottle, flip flops, wallet, phone, chargers, snacks and more easily fit in the back pack.

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : Time to harvest the garden! Do you put your garden “to bed” for the winter? Great article from The Farmer’s Almanac about how to winterize your plants/garden.

CHRISTA : Just a quick reminder that if you’re an Amazon Prime member and you love to read on a Kindle, you should be taking advantage of the free books each month through Amazon First Reads. Sign up now to get your October book! It’s early access to new books, available about a month before the official release date. They send you an email each month and you can pick from about nine different genres (always different), so there is something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this freebie! What You Loved This Week

You are ready for fall and your shopping list proves it. Lots of jeans on your lists and these two were the most popular last week. It’s time to rehab those flip flop feet with a little foot scrub. This Deep Steep Foot Scrub from Amazon is a fan favorite.

Friends Share the Good Stuff

FROM MEGAN’S STYLISH FRIEND JEN T : I ran into Jen at a high school football game last week and she had lots of amazing recommendations for us!

“I love these barrel jeans!” – Jen was actually wearing these when I saw her and they looked so cute I’ve already ordered a pair.

“This cardigan is amazing the quality is incredible.” Of course I’ve ordered this as well, I’m a sucker for a good cardy especially in the fall. Bonus — the cardigan is on sale for under $30.

Thanks Jen for sharing your fall finds with us. Keep sharing the good stuff!
