What We’re Watching This Week

MEGAN : A show recommendation from my mom. The Thursday Murder Club (Netflix) murder mystery/ who-dun-it, a foursome from the retirement home has uncovered a murder and now they’re solving it. My mom says the show is awesome, very entertaining. She also read the books and says the series lives up the book. Good, clean show for the whole fam. Thanks for the recommendation, Mom!

CHRISTA : Keeping this week’s TV recs in the family…I have a show recommendation from my son. Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue finds nine strangers stranded in the jungle after their plane crashes, only to then be murdered one by one. Naturally, there’s a lot of suspense and suspicion…I was definitely hooked after episode one and am finding this a great watch! (I still have a few episodes to go, so no spoilers please.)

What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50

CHRISTA : Heading out to the dentist. Have I been good about flossing? No! But do I have a cute outfit for my checkup? You betcha! Little did I know this sweater would be such a compliment magnet–the hygienist, receptionist and dentist all asked where I got it! It goes with everything, so what’s not to love about a little leopard print? For winter, I’ll be pairing it with black denim and booties.

MEGAN : The stormy skies didn’t stop me from enjoying a few days at the beach. I’m loving these cream striped jeans from Talbots (on MAJOR sale right now). The pants are my current favorite for the transitional fall weather. Perfect with a tee shirt during the day or with a sweater as the temps drop.

Fit tip: The Talbots pants run true to size, are on sale and come in Regular, Petite and Plus.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing

MEGAN : I’ve been seeing lots of polka dots for fall of 2025. Polka dots are a classic print, fun and whimsical without being childish. Polka dot dresses are giving Pretty Woman/Julia Roberts in the 90s vibes. If you have a party, wedding, shower or event this fall check out these polka dot dresses.

CHRISTA : I decided to get my favorite family photos off my phone and into a wall gallery, and Framebridge made it so easy! You just pick your frames and upload your pics–they print, frame, and ship them right to you. Most of mine have already arrived, and I am BLOWN AWAY at how gorgeous the quality is. I can’t wait to hang them up and share the big reveal with all of you! I mocked up my vision in Adobe before ordering, but they have designers that can help you create a custom wall. Or they have predesigned gallery walls that are easy-to-hang with their included life-size template. Check back in a week or two to see my finished wall! Yipee!

They also offer tabletop frames and gift cards, which would be a great engagement gift!

Pro tip: The resolution of some of my prints was too low to print at 12×12 size. So I uploaded the image to ChatGPT, told it what resolution I needed and how big I wanted to print it, and I had a perfect picture in no time to upload to Framebridge. They look crisp, clear, and totally frame-worthy.

Mini Style Fix: Animal Print Really is a Neutral

The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.

We think animal print really is a neutral…and Vogue agrees with us!

MEGAN : I love animal print and concur that it is a neutral. It’s the perfect fall pattern – looks great with denim. Animal print gives fabric texture which adds dimension to clothes. Personally I love animal print with a monochromatic (denim) look. If you want to take baby steps into the zoo try adding animal print accessories (shoes/purse) or a jacket.

Style Tip: Don’t mix animal prints! One animal print and one item per outfit, otherwise you run the risk of looking costume-y.

CHRISTA : Leopard print isn’t just wild—it’s wildly versatile! Think of it as the neutral you didn’t know you needed: it pairs effortlessly with black or white, denim. But give it a try with a bolder color, like kelly green or red for instant chic energy. A leopard accessory or shoe can elevate the simplest look without stealing the spotlight, proving that neutrals don’t have to be boring. Go ahead—let your spots do the talking!

Style Tip: One statement at a time! If your top is leopard, keep bottoms simple. If wearing leopard pants or skirt, stick to a neutral top.

Just for Fun: Parents’ Weekend Style

CHRISTA : Want to show a little school spirit without spending a ton? The PRETTYGARDEN brand on Amazon totally delivers! They’ve got so many cute styles—and in just about every color you can imagine. These styles will take you from campus tour to tailgate to football game. I rounded up a few favorite tops and dresses that are perfect for Parents’ Weekend and game day. I own several myself and have been really impressed with the quality of this brand for the price. Just mix and match with what’s already in your closet and you’re good to go.

Style tip: Parent’s Weekend usually means a full schedule—campus tours, dinners, tailgates, and football games—so opt for casual, comfortable outfits. Keep it lightweight to stay cool during a busy (and likely warm!) day on the go. These cute dresses and tops provide all that, plus a little extra school spirit, too! Go team!

MEGAN : I’ve been to a lot of parents’ weekends and imo the most important part of your outfit is comfortable shoes! These slim line, retro, memory phone sneakers are perfect for the all day trek that is game day and/or parents’ weekend. A neutral base outfit – jeans and a button up with a little school spirit sweater that plays off the check in the button up is perfect. Don’t forget to bring your own cup!
