What We’re Watching This Week
MEGAN : With Love, Meghan (Season Two) is out on Netflix. Love or hate her I found season one of this series delightful. The coastal California backdrop is stunning as is her rental kitchen. I actually found the homemade crafts fun and even tried a few. Of course there are a few things that are over the top (edible flower sprinkles I’m looking at you), but the idea of creating welcoming environments and entertaining people is right up my alley.
CHRISTA : IG served me clips from Taskmaster, so naturally I had to watch. It was only available for purchase AND it has 19 seasons, so I googled to find the best season/episode. Season 19 came up on the top of the lists, and I started there. What I found was the more you watch, the more you want to watch! It’s the same cast of comedians each week doing the most ridiculous tasks…and being judged! One reviewer nailed it: “There’s no way I can describe this without sounding like an idiot.” So just trust me—$10 well spent for lots of laughs. p.s. After I wrote this, my son pointed out that you can find all seasons of Taskmaster on YouTube — for free.
What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50
CHRISTA : The second I slipped into these jeans, I knew they were the ones. Talk about legs for days, ladies! I styled them with wedges here, and the length is spot-on—come fall, they’ll be perfect with my favorite heeled booties. If you’re on the hunt for an elevated pair of denim you can easily dress up, this is it. No surprise they’re from my go-to brand, Kut from the Kloth—I fall in love with every pair. You can find more of my Kut faves in this week’s mini style fix below.
Fit tip: Runs TTS. I’m 5’4 and wearing the petite length. I’d say they run long, and I’ll need to wear these with a low 2″ heel (or get them hemmed).

MEGAN : Wearing the Madewell Darted Barrel Jeans, these are my “trendy” pick from my top Three Favorite Denim for Women Over 50. They are the most comfortable jeans I own, loose in all the right places. I love that I can throw them on with a tee shirt, a sweater blazer and ballet flats and go. Speaking of ballet flats, check out these Vionic denim leopard ballet flats I found at Nordstrom Rack (on sale!). Vionic is known for their orthodic support. These flats will go with so much this fall (spoiler alert: more on animal print as a neutral next week), but mostly I’m going to wear them with jeans. Shoes run true to size.
Fit tip: These Madewell jeans come in tall, petite, standard and curvy. I’m 5’1 and wearing the petite. This might be the first pair of petite jeans I haven’t had to hem. Hooray for petite friendly.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing
MEGAN : I’m reinvesting my pedicure money into flats this fall. I did a deep dive into all the cute (and comfortable!) flats to go with jeans, skirts, dresses and slacks. I own a few of these (or variations of) already – I’m sure you do too. Shop your closet and fill in the holes, it will make getting dressed everyday much easier.

CHRISTA : Have you noticed? Every decor catalog and website seems to have hit the refresh button—suddenly it’s green, green, everywhere! 🌿 Just when I thought I had nailed my whole “navy blue accents” vibe, the trends shift again. So what’s a girl to do? A little internet sleuthing later, I found the trick: don’t start from scratch, just swap out the easy stuff: your soft furnishings and textiles. Pillows, throws, towels, an area rug, maybe even the drapes. Instant update, zero stress. And of course, I went straight to Amazon—because affordable + fast = decorating magic.
Pro tip: Add a pillow insert that’s 1″ bigger than the cover for a professional look.

What We’re Reading in September
CHRISTA : Based on the recommendation from my friend Annamaria, The Wedding People is next on my Kindle. Reviewers say it’s the perfect book to wrap up the summer., so I can’t wait to get started. From Amazon: “A solo traveler at a Newport wedding venue is mistaken for a wedding guest, leading to an unexpected connection with the bride and a journey of personal transformation.” If you’ve already read this, let me know what you thought in the comments.
MEGAN : I’m a quarter of the way into Culpability by Bruce Holsinger and I can already tell this is going to be a book I think about for a long time. So far it has touched on AI and it’s affect on our societies moral compass. Wrapping this discussion in a modern story that is incredibly relatable to me – a 50 something, empty nester with two young adult sons. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Mini Style Fix: Our Favorite Denim for Women Over 50
The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.
Denim is the foundation of our wardrobes, making it important that you have a pair (or two!) that you FEEL great in. Check out our picks for our favorite denim for women over 50 that we love and see if they might work for you.
MEGAN : I’m on an eternal quest for the perfect pair of jeans. One pair is the perfect color, another the perfect length, a third has the right amount of stretch. Is the unicorn out there? I have a few brands that come *very* close to being unicorns. Being 5’1 makes it almost certain I will need to have them hemmed in some capacity, which makes raw hem jeans desirable. Keeping to mostly classic straight leg styles works for me, however I do have a trendy pair of barrel jeans and as much as I wanted to dislike them, I find myself reaching for them often. The bottom line is find a pair of jeans you FEEL GOOD in and then buy a second pair.
Style Tip: When buying denim, fit is important. Most of us know our inseam, but do you know your rise? Take any pair of pants you own that fit the way you like and measure from the crotch to the top of the waist band. That is your rise. If you know what rise works for your body and what your inseam is – it makes shopping a whole heck of a lot easier.

CHRISTA : When you’re over 50, denim shopping isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about finding what truly fits you. For me, that’s Kut from the Kloth. Honestly, I think almost every pair of jeans in my closet is theirs. Boring? Maybe. But their consistent sizing makes shopping easy, and I know they’ll always fit. Plus, they’ve got every style covered—flare, ankle, straight, wide leg, bootcut—in all the washes you could want. Most days, I pair mine with ballet flats or sandals, but when I pull out the flares, I love them with a low-heeled bootie for a little extra polish.
Style tip: Kut from the Kloth offers regular and petite lengths; I’m 5’4 and usually wear petite. My go to styles are Reese straight leg and Kelsey kick flare, but I’m loving the Ana flare linked below to add for fall.
