Welcome to our Friday Walk and Talk—your stylish stroll through what’s new, fun, and just too good not to share. 💕 This week, we’re each sharing the one fashion accessory that completes every look. It’s our favorites that we’re always reaching for. Since we wear them so much, we thought you might like them, too.
We’re here to help you feel current (but not trendy) and effortlessly pulled together, with favorite finds that make life over 50 feel fresh and fabulous. From binge-worthy shows to great reads, must-have style picks, and thoughtful gift ideas, think of this as your weekly walk with friends who love sharing the good stuff.
We’re so glad you’re here—join us again, same time next week!

What We’re Watching This Week
MEGAN : Very Ralph, HBO max via Netflix is a documentary about Ralph Lauren – the man and the brand. Arguably the most iconic American clothing line, Ralph Lauren (born Ralph Lifshitz in the Bronx, 1939) talks about his childhood in NYC and creating a brand that has a point of view. As the owner and founder, Ralph famously creates worlds {western/cowboy, sailing, horseback riding} that make us all feel like we could be a part of it or at least be dressed for it.
CHRISTA : I think watching The Pitt may have ruined other medical dramas for me! The Pulse (Netflix) is solid, but after The Pitt, it just doesn’t hit the same. In The Pulse, you’ll find a little less “medical” and a little more “drama”…if you’re a Grey’s Anatomy fan, you’ll enjoy this one. It’s set in a Miami trauma center, during a hurricane, with lots of relationship drama and scandals, too!
What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50
CHRISTA : Mornings have been getting cooler, so I’m back to my “morning uniform”: leggings, a sweatshirt, and my slip-on Kizik sneakers. It’s the perfect combo for a dog walk, a walk & talk, a Diet Coke run, and a quick Target stop. My go-to leggings are still the $28 CRZ Yoga Naked Feeling leggings from Amazon—they’re the only ones I have in my drawer. They last forever, you can’t beat the price, they run TTS, and IMO are much better than the pricier “designer” brands.
Fit tip: I’m 5’4 and wearing the 25″ length leggings; these are the “Waves Blue” color. For the Kizik Milan sneakers, size up 1/2 size from your normal sneaker size.

MEGAN : Here is what I’m wearing the for the unofficial end of summer. Boo. I hate to see the easy breezy days make way for the hectic schedules of fall. However, I do love a routine AND I love any excuse to wear this American flag cardigan. Mine is from Vineyard Vines (they are sold out at VV but Nordstrom has a few in stock). Don’t sleep on this sweater, it’s timeless and you will have it for years to come. I’m already thinking of ways to style it for fall. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite Americana sweaters for you.
Fit tip: The Vineyard Vines cardigan runs BIG, size down one.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing
MEGAN : It seems like I’m always on the hunt for the perfect non-athletic sneaker. This week’s pick is a STRONG contender. Coming in under $35 and delivered to my house in under two hours, is this beauty. She’s got a memory foam foot bed, all white and slim silhouette making them perfect to wear with skirts, shorts or jeans! I’m going to take these for a test drive in the city and see how they hold up. Meanwhile, pick a pair up – at this comfort level and price point these will sell out.

CHRISTA : I’ve been working on my fitness lately—my walks (as much as I love them!) aren’t quite enough on their own. I need to build more strength, especially as I get older. So happy I found The Perfect Workout—a simple, one-on-one strength training session, just 20 minutes, twice a week. It’s designed specifically for those of us over 50, with a focus on low risk of injury but big impact. I already feel stronger and more energized after just a few weeks!
From The Perfect Workout website: “We train all major muscle groups through 5-8 exercises with minimal rest between sets. Our method and technology provide the perfect resistance for every exercise, eliminating virtually any risk of injury. So you’ll spend your sessions burning more fat and building more strength than traditional weight training.”
If you’ve been thinking about adding a little strength training to your routine, this is such a doable and encouraging way to start. It’s boosted my confidence and reminded me that it’s never too late to get stronger. And…my “perfect workout outfit”? CRZ Yoga leggings (of course!), this super light Zella t-shirt (I own four!), and my trusty Brooks sneakers.

Mini Style Fix: The One Fashion Accessory That Completes Every Look
The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.
We narrowed it down (which was really hard to do!), but we each came up with the one fashion accessory that completes every look!
MEGAN : One? Just ONE accessory? Impossible. For most of us, women over 50, it’s the accessories that make the outfit. Whether it’s iconic sunglasses (like Jackie O), a special piece of jewelry, a statement handbag, a silk scarf from your euro vacation – we all have our “thing” that goes with everything and makes us feel put together. I have a few things I wear everyday, my gold hoop earrings and my collection of gold bangle bracelets. Alas I’m not sure these qualify as “the accessory that completes every look”. For me it is the collective of accessories that complete my looks. That and the confidence that comes with age, and knowing yourself.
Style Tip: Whatever you wear, hoop earrings or a silk scarf – wear it with confidence. This is your look, your style and the accessories you are choosing are helping to define who you are to the people you meet.

CHRISTA : If you’ve been hanging out on the blog for a while, you probably already know my go-to accessory. This Susan Shaw necklace is hands-down my favorite—I wear it constantly! It goes with everything, it’s pretty much the only one I pack when I travel, and honestly, it’s just that good. At this point, the cost per wear is basically pennies because I reach for it ALL.THE.TIME. I’ve linked a few other accessories below that are close runners-up—definitely worth a peek!
Style tip: Pick one accessory to add to your outfit every time you get dressed–it makes a difference in how you look and how you feel!

CHRISTA : Ever notice how actors ‘back then’ always looked way older than they actually were? 😂 Was it the fashion, the hair…or maybe all those cigarettes! Either way, aging has never looked so timeless!
MEGAN : You guys, the peaches are delicious! Recently I was the lucky recipient of a bunch of fresh peaches. I made a Peach Ricotta Cake and it was so yummy. Perfect late summer dessert utilizing farm fresh peaches. The cake is not super sweet, but it is really good. Tag us on FB or IG if you make it over the long weekend.
