Friends Share the Good Stuff
Welcome to our Friday Walk and Talk—your stylish stroll through what’s new, fun, and just too good not to share. 💕 This week, we’re sharing what we consider the perfect tote bag. But let’s be honest, aren’t all tote bags perfect? You can never have too many, but if you’re limited, we have a few we love.
We’re here to help you feel current (but not trendy) and effortlessly pulled together, with favorite finds that make life over 50 feel fresh and fabulous. From binge-worthy shows to great reads, must-have style picks, and thoughtful gift ideas, think of this as your weekly walk with friends who love sharing the good stuff.
We’re so glad you’re here—join us again, same time next week!

What We’re Watching This Week
MEGAN : I am deeply invested in season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. So invested, (#teamconrad) that I’m counting the days until the finale September 17.
CHRISTA : You know I love a good apocalyptic back-from-the-dead series, and Revival totally hits the spot! It’s set in this small Wisconsin town where people are mysteriously coming back to life—and no one knows if they’re harmless or hiding something darker. Meanwhile, Officer Dana Cypress is trying to solve a murder where the victim might not even be dead anymore. New episodes are on SYFY and streaming on Peacock—definitely one for the watchlist!
What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50
CHRISTA : Consider this your friendly nudge to bring some color into your wardrobe. Being over 50, or post-menopausal, or an empty nester (or [fill-in-the-blank]!) doesn’t mean you’re limited to black and neutrals. Have some fun—like with this ridiculously cute (and soft!) sweater from Avara!
Fit tip: I’m 5’4/size 8 tops, and I’m wearing a medium for a more relaxed fit.

MEGAN : Last week we talked about camo as a trend for fall and winter. I thought I’d show you how I’m wearing camo as a transition from summer to fall. A tee shirt and jeans gets more interesting with the camo jacket. As the temps drop I’ll add a cashmere sweater and swap the sandals for a pair of fashion sneakers or boots.
Fit tip: Try the trend! This camo jacket is under $50 and is a great way to try something new without breaking your budget.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing
MEGAN : We went to an outdoor concert a few weeks ago and I pulled out my trusty snackle box. The venue allows you to bring a picnic and drinks. I promptly went to Trader Joes and picked up all the goodies to fill my snackle box. A little salty, a little sweet and a few healthy things too. Whether you are filling your snackle box to keep your kids busy on a road trip, taking it on the boat for happy hour or going to a tailgate – this little box is so fun and just right.

Mini Style Fix: The Perfect Tote Bag
The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.
Today we’re sharing what we consider “the perfect tote bag!” That’s a redundant phrase since ALL tote bags are perfect. A bag that can be used to carry books, groceries, pool toys, clothes, bedding, farmer’s market bounty… the list is endless. A tote bag can be leather, cotton, sturdy canvas, neoprene or plastic. We love a tote bag, perfect for any occasion and also a great gift (with monogram, natch)!
MEGAN : You know who never met a tote bag she didn’t need? THIS GIRL. I admit it, I have an addiction to tote bags. They are so functional it makes them hard to resist. Fun fact, as I was prepping for this tote bag segment I found my high school book bag, an LL Bean Boat and Tote (40+ years old!). I tossed her in the washing machine and she’s now back in rotation!
Style Tip: The LL Bean Boat and Tote makes an awesome hostess gift. Have it monogrammed with your host’s last name and fill it with beach towels, a bottle of wine or snacks from Trader Joes. Everyone loves a gift they can use.

CHRISTA : My perfect tote bag isn’t so much about style as it is about function. I’ve purchased this Scout Deano Tote twelve times since 2016 (half of those were gifts!), and I use mine constantly—for groceries, road trips, UPS returns, weekend getaways, picnics. I first used them when my daughter was in college to haul her “please bring” lists when we visited. I gifted them to my mom and my mother-in-law, who used them during hospital stays (both love them!). It’s a great hostess gift for your friend with a vacation house. Or bring one to your next favorite things party! Can you tell that I think everyone should own a couple of these all-purpose totes?!
Pro tip: Linking all my favorite Scout Bags below! I own several styles and truly use them all. The 4 Boys Tote is a larger version of my go-to, while the Errand Boy is even roomier—great for hauling bedding to a rental or packing for college move-in. And don’t forget the Bagette tote—it’s perfect for grocery runs!

Just for Fun: Smart Finds & Random Little Joys
CHRISTA : One of the easiest (and most satisfying!) little home updates we’ve ever tackled? Adding peel-and-stick wallpaper to the back of our bookshelves. It instantly gave the whole room a fresh, polished look—with hardly any effort. Our selection: a navy faux grasscloth that adds just the right touch of cozy drama. Simple, fun, and totally foolproof. For my bookcase, I ordered three roles, making this an under $100 upgrade! With three roles, I had plenty leftover (and plenty in case I made mistakes!).

MEGAN : A recommendation from my stylish UK friend, Deb! I recently had coffee and a catch up with my friend that’s visiting from the England. We talked all things fashion, beauty, books, (kids!), trips and shows. Deb told me that while she’s been in US she tried a new hair product Unove Silk Oil Essence Hair Serum. Her glowing review included the facts that her hair was smoother, silkier and hadn’t felt this lush in years. Unove Serum is well priced at $22 for 2.4 oz. Thanks Deb, we love when friends share the good stuff!
