welcome to the weekly walk and talk

Friends Share the Good Stuff

Thanks for joining our Walk and Talk! Every week, we’re sharing our favorite finds—great books, binge-worthy shows, cute shopping picks, and all the little things that make life over 50 feel good. Think of it as your weekly walk with friends who always have something fun (and useful) to share. So glad you’re here!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : If you were a fan of Bloodline and Point Break (80s throw back!) then you will love Animal Kingdom. A family crime drama led by Ellen Barkin (Smurf), her four sons and grandson – the show takes place present day in Oceanside, California. Six seasons, each episode is 45 minutes. Lots of action, but also a great story.

CHRISTA : Don’t miss how the game ends! Catch the series finale of Squid Game on Netflix, available today!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Clearly, I’m in my dress era! As the temps climb, all I want are easy, breezy outfits I can throw on and go. If your closet could use a little mid-summer refresh—or you’re packing for a sunny getaway—I’ve rounded up some casual favorites you’ll love. Most are super affordable (hello, under $30!), several are repeat purchases (so you know I love them!), and yes… several have pockets! ☀️

MEGAN : Wondering what to wear when the heat index is 110? This linen jumpsuit ($35) is perfect. It’s one and done but keep it cool. My new favorite Amazon cardigan, also $35, is a great third piece for any neutral outfit. Toss it over your shoulders to keep from catching a chill in the a/c.

What We’re Loving (and Think You Might Too!)

MEGAN : It’s sunscreen season. My goal this year is to keep the sunscreen right next to my toothbrush so when I get up in the morning it’s the first thing I do. So far so good. My SIL picked up this Australian sunscreen “Queen Screen” in London for me. It’s very sheer (but SPF 50!). Layers really well over my serums and moisturizer and under my make up on a day that I’m wearing some. Lucky for me, Sephora also stocks this treasure. Second bottle ordered. Pro tip: Pairs well with a sunny day, iced tea and a friend with a pool.

CHRISTA : There’s a lot to love about the Nordstrom credit card. If you don’t have one yet, this is the time to sign up because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is right around the corner!

  • Cardholders earn points on every purchase (1 point = 1 dollar), which translates to Nordstrom Notes that provide savings on future buys. 1000 points = $10 note (or credit).
  • As a cardholder, you get exclusive early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (NSale) to grab the best deals before anyone else (and if you shop the sale, you know things sell out).
  • The card also includes benefits like alterations credits and invitations to exclusive in-store events.

Mini Style Fix: Celebrate Summer with a New Lipstick 💄💋

Mini Style Fix is your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized posts are fast, fun, and totally doable.

MEGAN : It’s no secret I’m a lipstick lover. There’s just something about putting on lipstick that makes everything better. This summer I’ve been wearing Nars “Devious”, a mauvy rose. Neutral and perfect for cool toned skin. Gives your lip a very natural berry stain. When I’m feeling fancy I layer the Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil on top. This duo gives a natural but polished look. Both of these are buildable and perfect on their own, but together — well ,they’re my summer power couple.

CHRISTA : Thinking about switching up your lipstick for summer? Here’s a great tip I came across: no need to give up your favorite shade—just change the texture. Look for your go-to color in a lip oil, gloss, or tinted balm for a lighter, more summery vibe. My pick this summer: Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Tinted Lip Gloss in Slow Jam. I love my Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Plum, and this gloss is a lighter version for the summer.

Random Stuff We Like

CHRISTA : How do we end up with sooo many vases? (I know I’m not the only one!) Don’t think of them as clutter—think of them as a creative opportunity!

  • Host a flower arranging party—everyone gets a vase to take home.
  • Surprise your friends with just-because bouquets (Trader Joe’s floral to the rescue!).
  • Use them for a mismatched centerpiece at your next dinner party—sprigs of greenery make it effortless.
  • For your next patio night, fill vases with stones and candles for simple, stylish lighting.

MEGAN : I get annoyed when my big water bottle doesn’t fit in my car’s cup holder. Amazon to the rescue. This cup holder fits and adjusts into your regular car cupholder and holds my 40 oz Owala water bottle. It also hold a 40 oz. Nalgene. It is not normal how happy this makes me.
