Walk and Talk 06.06.2025

welcome to the weekly walk and talk!

Friends Share the Good Stuff

Thanks for joining our Walk and Talk! Every week, we’re sharing our favorite finds—great books, binge-worthy shows, cute shopping picks, and all the little things that make life over 50 feel good. Think of it as your weekly walk with friends who always have something fun (and useful) to share. So glad you’re here!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Is Sirens the summer hit we’ve been waiting for? I loved it, my husband not so much. There is a lot to unpack (I turned to Reddit with a few queries), but the mythological sirens metaphor was not lost on me. Great show if you are into watching rich people behaving badly.

CHRISTA : After I finished The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu suggested Harlots. It can be a bit brutal (and risqué!), but the storytelling and performances earned it very high Rotten Tomatoes scores for all three seasons (seasons 2 and 3 have 100% scores). Set in 18th-century London, brothel owner Margaret Wells fights to protect her family in a ruthless world run by men. And yes—with a name like Harlots, there’s plenty of sex, so maybe check who’s around before you watch! 😂

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Planning a full day of sightseeing or theme park fun? Here’s what actually worked for me on a whirlwind 20-hour trip to Orlando—where we squeezed in both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, in 90+ degree heat. The MVP of my outfit? This Beyond Yoga athleisure dress. It kept me cool, comfortable, and pulled together from morning to night. Even better: it’s currently on sale in a sunny yellow at Saks OFF 5th and Nordstrom Rack, and also comes in a super versatile grey (linked below).

For footwear, I relied on my FitFlop Rally sneakers—they’re supportive, cushioned, and handled 20,000 steps with zero issues. And instead of a bulky backpack, I used this Think Royln crossbody bag—lightweight, hands-free, and cleverly designed with three zip compartments that held everything I needed for the day.

If you’re headed to Disney (or anywhere hot and crowded this summer), these are pieces I actually used and highly recommend. For more outfit ideas and travel style tips, check out my updated Disney style post!

Pro tip: the dress doesn’t include built-in shorts (so bathroom breaks are easy!), but you’ll want to wear some shaping shorts underneath for all-day thigh comfort.

MEGAN : What I wore to a brewery/winery for lunch. I’m loving this Faherty linen top (found her for a great price at Nordstrom Rack!). It’s the perfect layer for warm but windy days.

Fit tip: The top runs big, I’m in my usual size large – but I like the roomie fit.

What We’re Loving (and Think You Might Too!)

MEGAN : Is anyone else getting served all the ads saying that the chemicals in laundry detergent are BAD? Check out this article from the Environmental Working Group about Tide. The problem I’ve found is that most of the “clean” detergents aren’t getting my clothes clean. Until I found Clean People. This combo works. Even on gross, frat house, college kid laundry.

Pro tip: I’ve been using/ordering for a month now and Amazon delivers the next day. I’ve only used the unscented.

CHRISTA : Want to pare down your routine without losing that fresh-faced glow? I’ve been using this cream blush + lip tint by Ilia (shade At Last)—just a quick swipe on cheeks and lips, and I’m done. It blends beautifully, lasts all day, and cuts my makeup steps in half. Perfect for travel or busy mornings! More easy beauty picks in our makeup roundup—linked here!

What We’re Reading in June

CHRISTA : Looking for a beach or vacay read? Family & Other Calamities: A Novel might be just the thing. It’s a quick easy read with intriguing characters. Finish in a day while you work on your tan! ☀️

MEGAN : My book club is reading It’s a Love Story. The newest Annabel Monaghan book has been billed as THE beach read for the summer of 2025. I’m a quarter of the way through and so far it’s two thumbs up. Jury’s still out on if It’s a Love Story will surpass Nora Goes Off Script as my all time favorite Annabel Monaghan book.

Mini Style Fix: One-Piece Swimsuit Styles We Swear By

This week’s Walk and Talk mini style fix is all about swimsuits. Is it time to update yours? We’re sharing our favorite styles that we’ve worn for years, with a few tips on why we love them and how we style them for beach and poolside confidence.

MEGAN : I like a strapless swimsuit because I detest tan lines. I know, we’re not supposed to get tan lines anymore but the 80s, Sun In, Ban de Soleil, Vaurnet wearing version of me still worries. If I’m not in a strapless suit reading my book by the pool, I’m wearing a maillot style tank suit. Solid colors only! Christa told us it’s the summer of the caftan, so I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect (not too Mrs. Roper-y) version.

CHRISTA : There’s just something about one-shoulder swimsuits—they have this effortless magic. The neckline draws the eye up and gives you this super flattering, elongated look. It adds a little drama without trying too hard, and somehow it works on pretty much everyone. It’s the easiest way to look polished and put-together at the pool.

Get the sisters back where they belong with Megan’s new favorite Soma Bra.

Clean your car’s screen! I bought a two pack of these (one for each car). When the sunlight hits the screen, I won’t cringe anymore at how dusty and fingerprint-y it is!
