summary

In case you missed it, here’s last week’s Walk and Talk.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Joan on Britbox via Prime is an excellent true crime miniseries (six episodes) about Boise and Joan Hannington. Based on the true story of Joan (aka The Godmother), a notorious jewel thief in London during the 1980s. If the twist and turns of the story don’t get you then all the 80s hair, makeup and clothes will. This story gives A LOT to walk and talk about.

CHRISTA : Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke (Hulu) is a gripping true-crime documentary about vlogger Ruby Franke, who was arrested for child abuse in August 2023. What began as a wholesome parenting YouTube channel portraying a loving Mormon family soon unraveled into one of America’s most shocking scandals. Unlike many documentaries, this one forgoes reenactments and actors, instead piecing together the story through previously unseen footage from their YouTube channel. It serves as a haunting reminder that what’s presented online doesn’t always reflect reality. Ultimately, Ruby Franke was convicted on four child abuse charges and sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : A weekend OOTD, inspired by Evereve’s latest catalog! This fun green stripe sweatshirt definitely caught my eye for spring. I’ve linked similar pants below. Sandals are from Target–a great look-for-less!

MEGAN : Do you use Pinterest for outfit inspiration? I’ve been pinning spring looks and recreating outfits with similar items I already own. Feels like a new to me outfit but I didn’t buy anything. Sharing the originally ‘PIN’ so you can see the look I was going for.

What We’re Loving (and Think You Might Too!)

MEGAN : Cotton broadcloth a-line midi skirts are currently trending, we’ve seen them in LOTS of stores and on LOTS of “spring essential” lists. In fact, I had one on my spring essentials list. I love the look, but I’m not sure how the trend will work on my 5’1 curvy body. Target has a skirt that checks all the boxes, including a budget friendly price. This is the perfect example of “try the trend” without breaking the bank.

CHRISTA : Looking to refresh your look without breaking the bank? Swap out your purse strap! I was searching for a new bag but couldn’t find one I loved — and if I’m spending a few hundred dollars, I have to LOVE it. Instead, I shopped my own closet and gave a bag I already owned a whole new vibe with this $12.99 strap. Sometimes you gotta spend a little to save a lot!

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : A recommendation from my stylish friend, Chantale. After talking skincare this week on the blog, this drugstore concealer is timely. Chantale said, “I have tried so many concealers and this one is ahhmazing!” Chantale’s make up always looks fantastic so if she says it’s good, you can bet I ran right out and bought it. Target Circle has it on sale through 3-22, making it under $7. Thanks for sharing the good stuff, Chantale!

walk and talk reader rec for concealer

CHRISTA : If you’re wearing readers more and more, you’ll appreciate this find! Something so simple, yet so handy! This little gadget is perfect to clean your glasses. Order one for your purse, one for the desk, one for the car…and one for the hubby, too!
