Welcome to the Walk & Talk
Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.
CHRISTA : There is something so energizing about a night out with the girls, just laughing, catching up, and feeling like yourself again. But how many of us actually schedule it? A monthly dinner, drinks, book club, or walk-and-wine night on the calendar turns “we should do this soon” into something real and regular, with something fun to look forward to. Go ahead…text them all now for your next night out!
MEGAN : Time for a new lipstick! Nothing brings me joy during the doldrums of winter like a new, moisturizing, colorful lipstick. If no other make up goes on my face during a snowy shut in – you can bet I put a little lipstick on. This is your sign, whether you go to Target, the grocery store or Sephora, treat yourself to a little winter pick me up.

What We’re Watching
MEGAN : Bookish on Prime-PBS Masterpiece is the six part series I needed during the snowy shut down. Set in 1946 post war London, Mr. Book runs a used book shop and solves crimes on the side. New episodes drop on Sunday evenings.
CHRISTA : I’ve been so happy to have some Game of Thrones programming back on Sunday nights. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max) focuses on the “smallfolk” of Westeros, the working class, and follows the underdog story of wannabe knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire “Egg.” My only complaint is that the episodes are only about 30 minutes long. OK, I have two complaints…I also wish they’d just release the whole season and not make me wait each week. If you’re a GoT fan, this series takes place between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones in the timeline, so many names will be familiar to you.
What We’re Wearing
CHRISTA : Wide-leg denim, heeled booties, and a cashmere sweater is my January “going out” uniform. It’s cozy enough for cold nights but still feels pulled together and polished. Honestly, I could wear this combo on repeat all winter.
Style tip: My exact cashmere sweater is sold out n black, but comes in 7 other colors and is on sale 55% off! Grab the red for Valentine’s Day, or try the grey for another “goes with everything” neutral.
MEGAN : The perfect pants for when the temps fall below freezing. They look cute, block the wind AND keep you warm. I have been wearing these pants non stop the past few weeks. I bought them a few years ago and by now the cost per wear is pennies.
Fit tip: When buying something like leather (or vegan) pants, chose a style that is classic. These are mid rise straight leg 5 pocket jeans cut. I will have them forever and they will always be in style.

What We’re Loving
MEGAN : My hands have been so dry this winter. Just got this new hand lotion from the mall and it smells like a spa day. Best part is my hands are no longer cracked and flaking. Perfect little pick me up for the winter blues, would also be a great birthday gift for a girlfriend.

CHRISTA : My cats are loving this new water fountain. It’s quiet, motion-activated, cordless, and rechargeable (lasts 120 days). Best part, it’s easy to clean, which was a big priority for me because these kind of things are not always simple to wash. Now the cats always have fresh, filtered water, and it’s under $30!

What We’re Styling: Galentine’s Dinner
Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, combined with a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.
CHRISTA : A night out with the girls is always good for the soul. Plan something fun for February (no need to make it a whole Galentine’s production) and use it as an excuse to wear something other than your everyday athleisure. You can feel pulled together without feeling overdressed. If I were heading out, I’d go for a sweater dress, tall boots, and a moto jacket. A little edgy, very easy, perfect for winter, and instantly chic. If you’re craving a small wardrobe refresh, you can click the image for links.

MEGAN : A pop of pink is the just the joy I need during the February blahs. This top from Frances Valentine is feminine and the right bit of punchy, pink flair that it will be the center piece of your outfit. Keep the rest of your look mellow with jeans and metallic accessories. Don’t forget your lipstick!
Style tip: This top will look great all spring, with white jeans for a date night or with a slip skirt or slacks for Easter brunch. When purchasing a statement piece, I like to make sure I have at least three occasions to wear it.

Just for Fun
MEGAN : I was in Sephora a few weeks ago and stumbled on this lip gloss. It was the applicator that first drew me in, but it’s the product that has me addicted. I’m not usually a lip gloss girlie, but this, this is different. It feels like Aquaphor, but looks like lip gloss. Not sticky, no weird taste and it’s got peptides so it HYDRATES the lips. Color Guava Fresca is the most universally flattering color.
Pro tip: I told my 20 something neighbor about it and she ran out and got it and also LOVES. InStyle magazine also agrees – Eadem ended up on the top of their 2026 lip gloss rankings.

CHRISTA : Go Team USA! The Winter Olympics start tonight! Here’s the link for everything you need to know to watch your favorite events. Which ones are you looking forward to the most? And don’t miss the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8, also on NBC (here are all the ways to watch).
And, for a little Olympic inspiration, check out The 5 Mature Female Olympians To Watch This Year (from AARP, of course!). “…this year’s Winter Games is expected to feature some of the oldest female Olympians in history, rewriting what it means to compete at the peak of your game.“
