Walk and Talk…plus What to Wear to a Super Bowl Party

weekly walk and talk

Welcome to the Walk & Talk

MEGAN : I’ve been snuggling inside this January. Reading, watching movies and cleaning out under the bathroom sinks. Something about the post holiday let down turns me into a (temporary) introvert. This week I’m looking forward to celebrating the END OF FOOTBALL season (there I said it!) by prepping for a little Super Bowl party. Which team will you be rooting for? And more importantly what are you wearing?

CHRISTA : I recently traveled with my daughter to two of her favorite places – Disney World and Universal Studios. Traveling with your adult children hits differently, in the best possible way. She often takes solo trips throughout the year, so it’s especially meaningful to join her sometimes and experience what she loves through her eyes. There’s something truly special about seeing the world through your child’s grown-up perspective. It’s part adventure, part reunion, and a whole lot of fun.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Rallied some girlfriends for half price night at the local movie theater. How are they staying in business? There is never a soul at the theater. We saw The Housemaid. Well hellllloooo Brandon Sklenar. A psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. I read the book and it still kept me engaged.

CHRISTA : Victoria (Netflix) is based on the early years of Queen Victoria’s 63-year reign, with much of the focus on her love story with Prince Albert. Originally released in the UK in 2016, the three-season series follows Queen Victoria from the start of her reign as a young 18 year old girl determined to rule in her own way. If you love these kinds of period pieces, this is one you don’t want to miss. If you like this sort of thing, you might also like My Lady Jane (Prime), The Empress (Netflix), The Great (Hulu), The Serpent Queen (Starz), The Spanish Princess (Starz), and Mary & George (Prime Video). Also, don’t miss Hamnet in theaters now.

What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50

CHRISTA : Favorite denim? Check. Minnie sweatshirt? Obviously. Disney style is all about comfort with a touch of magic.

Style tip: When you’re planning your Disney outfits, Etsy is a great resource for very affordable options featuring your favorite characters.

MEGAN : Here’s my real life outfit for a Super Bowl party. Comfort with a little sporty fun. These pants have seen a lot of wear, they are the elevated athleisure that’s perfect for travel (in cars or planes!). I also wear them just running around town, errands or can dress them up with a cashmere sweater for lunch with the girls. Highly recommend adding these to your over 50 wardrobe staples.

Fit tip: Pants are on sale! They come in petite, regular, tall and plus. I’m in the petite and still had to have about an inch taken off.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing

MEGAN : Going to a Super Bowl party? Don’t forget your hostess gift! I ordered these reusable cups from Etsy and I’m pairing them with a bag of everyone’s favorite ice from Chic-fil-a! Don’t forget to pick up the bag of ice on Saturday and throw it in your freezer until party time. Everyone that’s ever hosted an event knows you can never have too much ice.

CHRISTA : Tested on three trips, so I can definitely say I’m loving my new Beis roller bag + CALPAK duffle combo! These two bags together hold tons of stuff (I packed enough for a five day trip), and you’ll never check a bag again! On my last trip with my new Beis bag, I was able to fit two toiletry bags, four sweatshirts, two pair of sneakers, two jeans, two leggings, two dresses, one blouse, two pajamas, and all my socks/underwear. Whew! And the shoe compartment of the CALPAK bag is the perfect place to stash my T3 blow dry brush and curling iron.

Travel tip: The CALPAK Luka duffel bag fits under the airplane seat, and the Beis bag fits in the overhead bin. And I can squeeze the Think Royln bag into the CALPAK so I don’t exceed the carryon bag limit.

What to Wear to…a Super Bowl Party

Each week, we’re sharing an outfit inspired by a real-life destination, giving you fresh outfit ideas and a little nudge to get out and try something new. These effortless, comfortable looks will help you feel put together and ready to explore, whether you’re heading somewhere familiar or discovering a new favorite close to home. And remember, you don’t need a whole new outfit to make it work. Use these looks as inspiration, shop your closet, and then add one or two new pieces if you want to freshen things up.

CHRISTA : I’ll be watching the Super Bowl commercials from the comfort of my couch with plenty of snacks in reach. And I’ll be wearing something comfy like this. How fun is this sweatshirt! It’s giving “I’m cheering for the snacks” vibes!

MEGAN : No team in the fight? No problem, go neutral and dress like a ref. You never know, you might end up mediating between fans at your Super Bowl party. The key is (always) comfort. This is what I’ll be wearing to a Super Bowl party this year.
