Megan’s Fall Wardrobe Updates
There’s something about fall that makes me excited. Memories of back to school shopping with my mom, selecting the perfect pair of school shoes and NOTEBOOKS! I love new school supplies, even now. As the calendar turns toward cooler temps I’m getting excited to make a few additions to my closet. At this point in life, I certainly have plenty of clothes, but keeping your basics fresh and on trend is the key to looking stylish at any age.
Here’s what I’m excited about:
- wider leg denim and denim on denim looks
- layers: vests and cropped trenches
- fairisle cardigans (be still my 10 year old heart)
- accessories: pouch style clutches and platform sling backs
Have you noticed more and more of the department store ads are showing denim on denim? I’m kind of getting excited to explore that idea, especially with a cropped trench to break it up. This could be my fall “column of color” uniform.
Can you believe the fairisle sweater is coming back? I really wished I’d saved a few of those from the 80s. Autumn Cashmere and Boden are taking care of us with these sweet throw backs. Paired with wider leg jeans and boots or wedges gives the fall vibe I’m going for this year.
A few updates are all you need to keep you closet interesting and on trend. You don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe for each season, just pick up an item or two to keep your closet current. It will make getting dressed so much more fun!

Christa’s Fall Wardrobe Updates
It’s so exciting to see my inbox filling with the pre-fall and fall fashions from my favorite retailers! I’ve lost weight since January, so many of my favorite fall pieces from last year need to be replaced. It’s a little overwhelming, so I’m keeping it simple focusing on a few styles and colors.
I’m on the hunt for:
- on trend colors (olive green and deep plum are my picks, but red is another big one this fall)
- leopard (it’s like a neutral and it’s everywhere!)
- wider leg pants or jeans, especially paired with ballet flats that have interesting details
- blazer/jacket layering piece because it gives you even more outfit options between seasons
I am really loving how the denim, olive and plum are all working together to enable me to create lots of different outfits with just a few carefully chosen pieces. And you can see how the “neutral” leopard really does work with everything. (I’ll be adding a leopard belt and leopard ballet flats, too.)
Don’t miss this green blouse, friends! It’s AMAZING — and it’s from Amazon, under $40! I shared it in a pale pink for summer. Since I already know I love it, why not add another in this gorgeous green for fall?! And here it is in long sleeves.
The easiest way to keep from aging yourself is to keep your wardrobe fresh. And that doesn’t mean a whole new wardrobe every season. Just add a few new seasonal pieces that are currently on-trend (but not trendy). Mix and match your new items with some of your favorite existing pieces to create new looks.
