Last week I went to my mom’s house to make fig jam. It’s currently fig season, now’s the time to make this jam. My mom picked a bucket full of figs from her friends tree however, figs are in season and I’ve seen them in Trader Joes, Wegmans and Harris Teeter. Check your local market if you aren’t blessed with a neighborhood fig tree.

Some people say, if you are lucky enough to have a Trader Joe’s in your neighborhood, you’re lucky enough! Honestly, we agree. You can pop in and get flowers for a sick friend, a birthday card for your neighbor, milk, artisan cheese and a bottle of wine. As our husbands would say, just the essentials.
