It’s the Best of May 2024! Summer is officially here and we couldn’t be happier about it! Summer means time outside with friends and family, plus lots of getaways, staycations and fun stuff planned. It’s a great time to try some refreshing new recipes, have friends over for drinks on the deck, and go for early morning walks to beat the heat and get your day off to a great start.
But, today’s post is all about what we found and loved in May, and what all of you loved, too! The “best of” posts are always fun for us, as we look back at everything we’ve shared on Style Among Friends. The blog was busy last month with gifts for dads and grads, a recap of all things hair-related, and our guide to your head-to-toe swim look. Look and feel confident by the pool or on the beach all summer long with the right coverup, hat, tote, sandals and our favorite one-piece suits we’ve worn for years (and still love).

May was a busy month for me with three trips, and all of my best of picks were packable, perfect for my travels! Several got a lot of testing at Disney World and I’m here to tell you they all stood the test of Florida heat and crowds! All of these are highly recommended for your summer.
1 // This Zella dress was the favorite piece I packed on my recent Disney vacay. It’s a perfect summer outfit for travel or just running errands. Moisture wicking fabric, figure flattering cinch waist, pockets. Comes in 4 colors; runs TTS, but if you have larger boobs, you might need to size up.
2 // Don’t miss these sneakers! I was so worried about how my feet would hold up at Disney, but these FitFlop sneakers were THE BEST. No foot complaints from me after five 20,000 step days! I love how these look with casual summer or athlesiure dresses, too (very on-trend!). Color tip: they are not bright white, but more of a yellowy-creamy white.
3 // These new-to-me Bombas Cushioned No Show Socks were just right with the FitFlop sneakers. Socks didn’t show AND they never slipped!
4 // This SPANX AirEssentials Skort (a new addition to their AirEssentials collection) is another great piece perfect for summer vacations or just really warm days. It’s a great alternative to shorts, comes in fur colors, offers light smoothing compression, and the shorts have a phone pocket. The skort is going in and out of stock i most sizes, so add yourself to the waitlist – it’s worth the wait!
5 // I wore this WHBM dress for my son’s graduation and I loved it. Very comfortable, lightweight seersucker fabric, trendy asymmetric button front with a twist, and just dressy enough for a daytime event. Add this one to your closet and I know you’ll be reaching for it all summer long because of the cute style and lightweight fabric. Comes in regular and petite sizes, runs TTS.

1 // The Women by Kristin Hannah is my favorite book of the year (so far!). Pick up a copy and toss it in your beach bag, you will be glad you did.
2 // It’s not very glamorous but anything that get’s me flossing is worth a mention or two. I’m still addicted to Cocofloss, trying the Cara Cara Orange flavor this month.
3 // This white woven purse from Target makes me so happy. It’s the perfect size, goes with everything, zippers closed and did I mention it’s under $30?
4 // An impulse buy during the Sephora Sale, this Sephora brand daily brush cleaner is amazing. Full disclosure — I’m terrible about cleaning my make up brushes, this spray gets them CLEAN super fast and easy. Buying again in the full size.
5 // The Harlow Pant from Madewell comes in regular, curvy, petite, tall and 100% linen. I bought the tan regular at the end of April and loved them so much I quickly added the white linen. They are thick (not see through) and feel much more expensive than $88.
