WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

CHRISTA : Who else keeps a list of shows to watch on their phone? Here’s a great list from Vanity Fair of the top shows from 2022 and Vanity Fair’s complete list of 2022 Emmy nominations – in case you need to update your list. What shows do you recommend? #friendssharethegoodstuff – leave us a comment!

MEGAN : I got off the couch and saw a real show! If Six comes to your area I highly recommend it. It’s all about girl power; all female cast and band. The show tells a modern version of the six wives of Henry the VIII. The music is amazing, the costumes won an award and you leave knowing more about history than you came with.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – 10 under $100

MEGAN :

  • This collection of Le Labo perfumes is a great way to try a new fragrance without committing to a huge bottle. The famous Santal 33 is included in the trio.
  • Nothing is as luxurious as a cashmere sweater. This 100% cashmere crew neck sweater in dusty pink (or 7 other colors!) for under $100 is a must have. Your fall wardrobe will thank you.
  • On Cloud Sneakers are my go to and the slip on style is the best. Just bought my third pair.
  • This long line vest caught my eye when Christa and I went to Nordstrom. I have a similar one in camel from last year, now I think I need to add one in black! Perfect layering piece. I can see myself wearing it for travel, over my workout clothes or with jeans and sweater.
  • You know what you need for your new bootcut jeans?  Boots! These are so perfect you might need them in brown AND black.

CHRISTA:

  • I somehow overlooked this faux suede jacket online. When I saw it in the store I immediately bought the burgundy one for my daughter who started her first job – perfect for her business casual office. She loves that it isn’t too heavy – looks great with the jeans linked below. (I copied and have the black one on order.)
  • These Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution itty bitty boot cut jeans are slimming and give you legs for miles! My daughter snagged a pair of these for work, and I copied her again and ordered some for myself.
  • There are so many great candle sets in the sale, including this set of four tins – perfectly thoughtful gift, or break the set apart for four smaller gifts.
  • These Barefoot Dreams blankets are sooooo cozy! Grab one for everyone on your holiday gift list!
  • This initial pendant is the perfect length – and another great gift idea!

Shopping for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends July 31.

FRIENDS SHARE THE GOOD STUFF

MEGAN : Our stylish friend, Georgi on the shore, recommended Archies Flip Flops ($39). Have you heard of them? Designed in Australia by a podiatrist, they are made of recycled material and are unisex. They have arch support, but looks like Havaianas. Georgi’s description intrigued me so I ordered them. And guess what, she was 100% correct! They are amazing. I’ve worn them three days in a row. Thanks, Georgi!

Have something you love or can’t live without? Did you find a great deal? Well, do tell! Share with us and we’ll pass it along…because friends share the good stuff!

WHAT MEGAN’S COOKING

STAY TUNED

I’m on vacation this week, so no cooking for me. But…I’m in France and I’m taking a cooking class.

SOMETHING FOR YOUR NEXT VACAY

CHRISTA : Here’s some style inspiration for your next beach or poolside destination…

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight

SOMETHING YOU NEED (TRUST US!)

MEGAN : Do you have a good online company you use to send flowers? Farmgirl Flowers are amazing. Just received a bouquet from a friend, they come beautifully packaged in a box, with the stems wrapped in burlap and ribbon. Such a treat. 10% off your first order.

WHAT WE’RE READING

MEGAN : Just finished listening to The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. The story is set in Chevy Chase, MD (a DC suburb) and the eastern shore of MD. Good little mystery, I would stop short of calling it a thriller, but it kept my attention. Would be a good addition to your beach bag.

WALK (AND TALK)…WITH FRIENDS

CHRISTA : Megan’s “out of the office” for our walk this week, but our friend Karen is joining the walk and talk with me. Karen’s a busy mom, an entrepreneur (she’s an interior designer and realtor) AND the founder of a local nonprofit, Food For Neighbors (FFN). Megan and I both have the pleasure of volunteering with Karen at Food For Neighbors. We’re not sure how she does it all, but she does…and does it well. What’s her secret? Well, we asked!

KAREN : FFN provides food to teens who might otherwise go hungry. We mobilize the local community by making them aware of the need, requesting food and monetary donations and offering volunteer opportunities to students, families and groups who want to be more involved. We utilize the schools to identify who needs the food and have them distribute directly to the students and their families.

KAREN : Knowing that my kids were in school with peers who might not know where their next meal was coming from broke my heart. It made me realize what a disadvantage those students had and I wanted to give them a better chance at success. My hope is that these students feel cared for, connected to and supported by people in their community. And if we can remove one barrier for them then hopefully they can focus and learn and participate in school which will offer them greater opportunities in life.

KAREN : Just do it! Think about what you value, what’s important to you, what you are passionate about and find a group or organization that’s working on those things. All non-profits need volunteers and donors!

KAREN : Honestly having a schedule and keeping a calendar are critical for me. Family time has become even more precious now that I have 3 young adults so they tend to get priority when they’re around 🙂 Health is high on my list so I actually write in workouts on my calendar so that I make time for it. Running a non-profit or a business can consume you because there is always something that needs to be done, a question that needs to be answered or a project that needs to meet a deadline. I’ve gotten much better about not working in the evening or when I’m on vacation. Baby steps 🙂

I’ve learned over the years that my “love language” is quality time so I always enjoy connecting with my friends and extended family. Making time to check in via text, plan a lunch, catch-up over coffee, go shoe shopping together, watch movies, go for a walk or have a quick phone call…these are all really important to me.

KAREN : Stitch Fix is my go to. I hate to shop but I like to look nice. They send me stuff every month or two and I always get compliments on those clothing items! You choose how often you receive a box, what styles you like and the types of clothes you want from them. I used to get mostly work clothes and then switched to dress casual mixed with comfy/workout items. It’s so fun getting a surprise box of awesome clothes regularly!

AND, HERE’S WHERE WE WALKED

A peek along our walk…our weekly walk and talks are usually about three miles (one hour). Today we enjoyed a walk around the nearby lake – always pretty sites to see! Varying your route can make your walk more interesting and you’re more likely to go – although with a walking buddy and lots to talk about, where you walk doesn’t matter as much!

Tell us about your walks in the comments. How far do you walk daily/weekly? Do you use a watch or app to track your walks? Do you listen to podcasts while you walk or do you prefer a walk with a buddy?

College moms, we’ve got you covered. Tuesday we shared some tips for dorm room organization and our favorite products from the Container Store. Between us, we’ve moved kids into five different dorm rooms, so ask us anything – we’re happy to help!

We know many of you like to shop at Nordstrom Rack, and their huge Clear the Rack sale just started this week. Check it out.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing. Have you shopped? What’s your favorite find so far? Have you stocked up on gifts for the holiday season (or is it too soon)? All our tips and links for the NSale can be found in this post and we’ve been updating it throughout the sale. If you haven’t shopped yet, check it out for some outfit and gift ideas.

Walking is always so much better when you go with a friend! We hope you’ll share our blog with your walking bestie. And let us know in the comments what you’re watching, wearing, eating, planning or shopping for.
