weekly walk and talk

Welcome to the Walk & Talk

Welcome to Walk & Talk, a weekly hangout for women over 50 who love good finds and great outfits. It’s all about easy looks, favorite things, and the kind of recommendations you’d text to a friend.

CHRISTA : What’s that little voice in your head saying when you shop? Is it telling you to play it safe, buy what you always buy, stick to what’s “practical?” Maybe it’s time to ignore her! Choose the color, the shape, the piece that makes you light up a little. Trends come and go, but loving what you wear never goes out of style.

MEGAN : One of the best parts of being an empty nester is that you are free to travel. Whether you are visiting friends that moved to another city or flying to a warm weather destination (to revive your soul), it’s helpful to have a cute AND comfortable travel outfit so you can hit the ground running as soon as you arrive.

Before we dive into this week’s finds, can we ask a small favor? If you’re enjoying our weekly Walk & Talk, we’d love for you to follow along on Instagram too. A follow, like, share, or quick comment helps more women over 50 discover what we’re doing here, and the more we grow, the more fun content we can bring your way. Thanks for supporting our little corner of the internet!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : I’ve been teasing this show for a while, anyone else watching Love Story on Hulu? The CBK and JFK Jr. biopic has stolen all my brain cells, my Instagram feed and now my shopping cart. The 90s nostalgia is real. New episodes drop Thursday nights.

CHRISTA : Send Help (in theaters) was such a fun watch! Rachel McAdams is fantastic as Linda, the quiet woman from accounting who secretly dreams of being on Survivor. When she and her boss end up stranded on a deserted island, she has that “no one is going to help you, you’ve got to help yourself” moment when her skills kick in. It’s equal parts impressive and funny…and perhaps a tad gory too, but we might all agree the boss deserved much of it!

What We’re Loving

MEGAN : Is it Sezane or is it Target? I’m obsessed with this plaid, denim chore coat. Not only is it super soft but it runs huge — size down one or two sizes. Will be perfect with jeans, khakis, skirts, white pants. This is the jacket I wasn’t looking for and didn’t know I needed for spring 2026.

CHRISTA : Week two of the bedroom refresh and today it’s all about the artwork. Picking art can feel weirdly hard, so I always build a quick design board in Canva or Adobe (using simple screen shots of the items) to see how everything plays together. (You could also do this in Powerpoint or Word.) What looks perfect in my head does not always work once you add wall color, bedding, and accessories. And honestly, sometimes the piece I almost skipped ends up being the one that makes the whole room.

I’m ordering both pieces from a new-to-me site Nordic Park (sign up for 15% off your first order). I love that each piece of art comes in so many sizes and frame colors so I can get exactly what I need in my space.

Sizing tip: Go big. Measure your space for your art and fill it with a large scale piece you love!

38″x38″
30″x40″ ea.

What We’re Styling: Things We ALWAYS Pack

Each week, we share easy outfit ideas inspired by real-life plans and places. Think comfortable, put-together looks you can recreate with what you already own, plus a few fun add-to-cart options if you want to update your closet.

CHRISTA : I’ve been singing the praises of my BEIS roller bag and trusty CALPAK carry-on duffle, both blog favorites for a reason. They fit everything I need so I can skip checking a bag, even in winter. The real magic is what’s inside and how it stays ready to go. I keep a second set of chargers in my carry-on and two perfectly sized toiletry bags packed with travel essentials at all times. I’ve pared skincare and makeup down to the true must-haves, which keeps packing simple. Having everything stocked and ready saves time and makes prepping for travel so much less stressful. ✈️

MEGAN : Is it a road trip or a plane ride? The type of transportation effects what shoes I wear and what bag I bring. What doesn’t change are my cozy, comfy pants and my cashmere hoodie (with a tee shirt underneath). If flying, my pilot friend, Eddie says, “ALWAYS closed toe shoes, preferably sneakers – you just never know.”. For a road trip I like to kick ’em off and let my dogs bark, so clogs in the winter flip flops in the summer. I’ve had my CALPAK roller for over five years and she is still going strong. (Remember when I did 10 days in Europe with just this carry on?)

Pro tip: A boat & tote is the perfect road trip bag. If you’re just going for a night or two you can even pack in it. Otherwise it’s the perfect bag to corral your snacks, magazines, sunnies – you know, the travel essentials.

Just for Fun

MEGAN : My book club is reading White River Crossing by Ian McGuire. Set in the 1870s in Canada, the intro got me with, “A breathtaking and cinematic novel about the lust for gold and its bloody consequences.”. This one looks good!

CHRISTA : You’ll want to bookmark this one! Is your mom or dad looking to maintain some independence but they can’t drive? I recently came across GoGoGrandparent for my mom…it’s genius! It’s designed to simplify the ride share process for seniors. From the GoGoGrandparent website: Getting from one place to another shouldn’t be complicated. But for many older adults, using apps like Uber can feel overwhelming. Smartphones, touchscreens, and login credentials can turn a simple ride into a frustrating task. That’s where GoGoGrandparent helps. We simplify the process by letting older individuals call to arrange rides—no app or mobile device needed. From doctor visits to lunch with friends or quick errands, you’re covered with just one phone call.
