Walk and Talk…plus What to Wear to a Cozy Movie Night In

weekly walk and talk

Welcome to the Walk & Talk

CHRISTA : The days are cold and a little gloomy right now, which makes it the perfect time to invite the girls over for a cozy movie night. It’s an easy, low-key way to catch up with friends and finally watch the movies your husband has zero interest in. Light the candles, grab some snacks, and text the group chat now. You can always pretend you’re there for the movie and end up talking the whole time anyway.

MEGAN : Wow, my house is quiet now, and not just because the kids are gone—it’s because life is shifting. Being an empty nester invites us to clear space, not only in our homes but in our hearts and schedules, too. If you’re wondering what comes next, take a break from cleaning out those closets and invite some friends over for a cozy movie night at home. YOU are exactly where you’re meant to be.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : The Night Manager (Prime) is based on the best selling John le Carre novel. Jonathan Pine is recruited by MI-6 to infiltrate and take down an international arms syndicate. Six episodes that are action packed and will keep you glued to the TV. Your husband will love it too, perfect show to watch together when the nest is empty again. Season 2 just released (10 years later!).

CHRISTA : My daughter is a huge horror fan, which means she somehow convinced me to watch IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO Max) with her. I am not exactly well-versed in the original IT movies, but good news, you do not need to be. The production value alone had me hooked, it feels every bit as polished as a big-budget movie. That said, I did let out a very real squeal in episode one when something jumped out at me, so we are already off to a strong start. I will keep watching, mostly for her… and partly to prove I am braver than I actually am. Wish me luck.

What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50

CHRISTA : My “Ziggy” sweatshirts from perfectwhitetees were basically my Orlando MVP. Light enough to keep me comfy during 70-degree days, but perfect for layering under a jacket when the nights cooled down. Cute, cozy, and effortlessly versatile (exactly what you want in a travel staple!). I paired it with these new “Reese” denim by Kut from the Kloth (my favorite denim brand).

MEGAN : This whole look is on sale. I love a cozy cardigan in winter and this bandana print in green will carry me through winter and spring. I’m imagining it on St. Patrick’s Day with white jeans and a white tee. My pleather pants have been in heavy rotation lately because it’s been COLD. Slip on loafers are always easy, especially if you’re just around the house.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing

MEGAN : I have it on good authority (from the check out lady at TJMaxx) that leopard is trending in 2026. Good news for me, since my wardrobe thinks leopard is a neutral. If you are looking to work more animal prints into your closet try a sweater vest. Layer a tee, white button down or a denim shirt under it and pair with jeans and loafers for a cute and casual look.

CHRISTA : Last week I shared this Old Navy SoSoft turtleneck sweater. Feels like cashmere, but super affordable. For Valentine’s Day, they have this red SoSoft cardigan. Love the heart buttons. It says Valentine’s Day without being overly cutesy (no one over 50 wants that!). This will be one of those sweaters you’ll wear all of February everywhere you go!

What to Wear to…a Cozy Movie Night In

Each week, we’re sharing an outfit inspired by a real-life destination, giving you fresh outfit ideas and a little nudge to get out and try something new. These effortless, comfortable looks will help you feel put together and ready to explore, whether you’re heading somewhere familiar or discovering a new favorite close to home. And remember, you don’t need a whole new outfit to make it work. Use these looks as inspiration, shop your closet, and then add one or two new pieces if you want to freshen things up.

CHRISTA : Valentine’s Day is almost here, which feels like the perfect excuse for a cozy movie night with the girls and a classic rom-com marathon. Hulu even has 22 solid picks if you need inspiration. This Valentine’s-inspired outfit is comfy enough for the couch but cute enough to wear on repeat, and every piece works well past February, making it an easy win for your closet and your budget.

MEGAN : What to wear when you Netflix and chill? Cozy sweats of course. These Champion sweatpants from Target are my all time favorite. They are thick and have that “old school” borrowed from your boyfriend feel. I’ll also tell you what I’m not wearing when I settle in for a cozy movie night at home. A bra.

Just for Fun: Smart Finds & Random Little Joys

MEGAN : Am I the only one that can’t keep track of all the passwords, pins, secret words etc? I guess my gingko biloba isn’t working hard enough. To assist my brain fog I ordered this little tiny address book to keep my passwords and sanity safe.

CHRISTA : Lately, I’ve been loving a small handful of daily newsletters that land right in my inbox and make it easy to stay in the know (and easy to stay off social media). Each one shares the latest headlines in quick, bite-sized pieces that are easy to scan without feeling overwhelming. I’m sharing my three favorites in case you’re looking for a simple way to get your news.

  • Wake-Up Call by Katie Couric Media – Katie’s daily emails cover all the news, plus her personal lifestyle tips, product recommendations, favorite things and more. It’s more than news…it’s filled with Katie’s positivity, too! It’s a nice way to start the day. She also has some weekly emails you might be interested in, too.
  • The 7 – get caught up every day with seven things you need to know from The Washington Post.
  • Morning Brew – love their tagline, “become smarter in just five minutes.” They have a great sense of humor and provide a thorough recap of current events across a wide range of issues and topics…plus they have some fun games!

Here are two more newsletters that I enjoy receiving weekly. Both are written for women and include lots of fashion and lifestyle tips/articles:

I just updated my flatware with this look for less from Target. Highly recommend.
